Is Die Hard the only 80s action movie who is still worth watching?

Is Die Hard the only 80s action movie who is still worth watching?

Die Hard is the only movie worth watching.

Streets of fire

Die Hard is the only xmas movie worth watching

Lethal Weapons are still pretty entertaining. It's fun to watch the acceptable levels of sexism/racism in the 80s. Like when Danny Glover goes to immigrate to South Africa and the guy at the embassy is like Wut?

Thats the 5th element dumbass

Aliens is best.

Jesus. Go watch Predator right now

die hard is not a "who"

Blade Runner........?
Raiders of the Lost Arc.......?

Action Jackson

Nah, I hate it.

Looks like shiiiit.

I'll give you that.

Sci-Fi, but okay. Those are good, but I was looking for more real-world action films.

Blade Runner is more drama than action. Also sci-fi
Raiders of the Lost Ark is pure crap with only one redeeming feature: It got a sequel, Temple of Doom, which is alright.

Big Trouble in Little China

Masters of the Universe is good too.

Besides Bad Santa

I watched diehard on xmas

Alien

>thinking temple is better than raiders
top pleb

>who

It's not a person you dumb fuck.

Commando is pretty good

>pic related the greatest 80s action movie prove me wrong fuck you

Is Ghostbusters an action movie?

this and Tango & Cash

The first one is better
But not by much

Conan the Barbarian is badass

Nah thats a comedy

Nah not really. Like as much as Harry Potter is an action movie. GB is more like fantasy or something

all these people forgetting bloodsport

alien is not an action movie tho

Blackula

Not according to me. Loads of great action movies from that era.

Lethal Weapon series
Commando
Cobra
Rambo series
Alien series
Terminator series
Predator
RoboCop
Bloodsport
Big Trouble in Little China
Escape From New York
Missing in Action
Raw Deal

There are so many, OP. The 80s were the creative apex of the action genre.

Alien is a horror movie. Aliens is more action.

die hard is crap tho

>Rejecting Die Hard's Persongender
You cishet faggots.

What is the appeal of Raiders that everyone but me sees? I was bored out of my skull. I enjoyed Temple of Doom somewhat, but not that much. Raiders, however...I don't get why people like it.

>Raiders of the Lost Ark is pure crap
kys you're self

You have shit taste. They literally use it as a template for perfect movies in film school.

It's past your bedtime little boy, the grown ups are talking.

Predator still holds up, especially if you're a closet homosexual.

Have you heard of Derelict yet? It's a fan recut/mashup of Prometheus x Alien that ties the two movies together. It's really cool actually if youre a fan

I just watched the Rifftrax version of Predator about a week ago. It was the first time watching it in years. Good movie.

...

Cobra
Commando
Predator
Terminator
Lethal Weapon
Beverly Hills Cop
Nico
Death Wish franchise
Rambo franchise
Missing in Action franchise
Mad Max franchise
Chuck Norris movies
the start of Jean Claude Van Damme movies

etc etc etc etc

You literally chose the decade with the MOST great action movies made. So OK troll. 6/10

no

>Raiders
>Crap
wtf are you on about user

this is true

...

First time I saw wreckage at the end of prometheus

I blame cocaine for all the great movies green lit in the 80s.

kys you filthy homos

Oh, and I forgot to add American Ninja-franchise to my list as well.

...

>blame
You meant "thank" but, yeah, definitely.

Great movie, but it's more of a drama than an action really. Only got 2 big action scenes in it.

You're probably the guy who thinks 'Temple' was better than 'Raiders.'

not really action but here you go thank me later

Neat. Looking that up now.

>Lethal Weapon series
>Commando
>Cobra
>Rambo series
>Alien series
>Terminator series
>Predator
>RoboCop
>Bloodsport
>Big Trouble in Little China
>Escape From New York
>Missing in Action
>Raw Deal

See, this is why I made the thread: Almost the entire list have aged badly.

Lethal Weapon I still enjoy, though not as much as Die Hard
Commando, Cobra and Rambo feel goofy now, the acting and writing is sub-par.
Alien and Aliens still feel as fresh as the day they came out, same with Terminator.
Predator still is good action-wise, but it feels old and I've seen the formula repeated so many times that it doesn't capture me in the same way. Besides, The Thing did the same plot a thousand times better
Robocop's mix of action and satire is too much, and the action scenes are among the worst on this list.
Bloodsport I'll have to check out.
Big Trouble in Little China was kind of annoying actually. It's pretty obvious from the get-go that Wang was the more interesting character, yet it's all Jack, Jack Jack. I get that that is the point of the movie, but still.
Escape From New York...I had just forgotten that
MIA and Raw Deal have aged super-badly.

>Derelict
Where can I find that now?

If you don't appreciate the camp value of the films you're deriding in that post then I don't really know what you're looking for in action films.

Action films are dumb fun. You didn't appreciate it when you were a kid because you were a kid so you took it seriously. Don't.

>doesnt like john carpenter
stay pleb

weird science

Oh shit it's Sup Forums

Yall done goofed!

action movies are never worth watching user

god-tier

if it had been made 25 years later they'd just call it autobiography of a /btard

Not from the 80s dumbass

No but It is the best christmas movie

>Commando, Cobra and Rambo feel goofy now, the acting and writing is sub-par.
I personally enjoy all 3 of them, but I can see why someone thinks the first two are goofy. People said they were goofy at the time they were released.

However, I need you to explain what is goofy about Rambo- first blood. Go on, I dare you.

Also not really 80s. But yeah, awesome movie.

But Die Hard works *unironically* and it has NO camp value, and that's what I want. It can be dumb fun, but I don't want to be reminded of how dumb they actually are.

Looks like the zodiac

>The God-King Carpenter
I saw The Thing when it came out on tape.

I was 7.

I f'n love that man.

The Breakfast Club?
Ferris Bueller's Day Off?
Stand by me?

Howard the Duck

Xmas time at my house:

Home alone 1 and 2
Die hard 1 and 2
Bad Santa
Silent night, deadly night 1 and 2
Gremlins 1 and 2
topped off with Star Wars the Xmas Special

>Lethal Weapon I still enjoy, though not as much as Die Hard
Agreed.

>Commando, Cobra and Rambo feel goofy now, the acting and writing is sub-par.
Rambo? Sub-par? Nigga, are you crazy?

>Alien and Aliens still feel as fresh as the day they came out, same with Terminator.
Well, that's for damn sure.

>Predator still is good action-wise, but it feels old and I've seen the formula repeated so many times that it doesn't capture me in the same way.
So you knock the original because it's spawned poor imitations? You're fucking doing it wrong.

>Besides, The Thing did the same plot a thousand times better
Carpenter's 'The Thing' is a 10/10 film. Very few movies will get close to it.

>Robocop's mix of action and satire is too much, and the action scenes are among the worst on this list.
No, no, no. Everything about that statement is wrong.

>Bloodsport I'll have to check out.
The only Van Damme I still like.

>Big Trouble in Little China was kind of annoying actually. It's pretty obvious from the get-go that Wang was the more interesting character, yet it's all Jack, Jack Jack. I get that that is the point of the movie, but still.
Heresy.

>Escape From New York...I had just forgotten that
Remember it well.

>MIA and Raw Deal have aged super-badly.
Maybe. Haven't seen either in a while now.

Snake Plisken will skull fuck you for your ignorance

not actions, fam

Raiders is one of the best films in the series, along with the Last Crusade.

48 Hours

That is better than any Christmas I have ever had

But still legends that need appreciated ;)

Is it not pretty goofy how First Bood is completely overshadowed in the mind of us plebs by Rambo 2 and Rambo 3? In fact, so overshadowed that I almost posted without correcting Rambo 2 to Rambo: First Blood Part 2

fam, i think you just don't like action movies.

>Action Movie
Breakfast Club

jesus christ

I can think of a few others:

Lethal Weapon, Mad Max 2, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Predator, Aliens (Alien is more of a horror film), Terminator, Robocop, Total Recall, Commando (I know it's goofy, but that's the appeal), Conan the Barbarian (also pretty goofy and not a good adaptation of the source material, but still fun)

Just to name a few.

But seriously though, anyone who hasn't seen the Mad Max films should. High quality post-apocalyptic action classics.

This must be advanced bait. Everything you said was incredibly accurate until the last line.

Maximum overdrive

Rocky my dude. When you can still understand Stalone. As well as a good movie.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High as well if my years are correct.

Big Trouble in Little China is still a blast to watch

Fucking SW Xmas special. How in the fuck can anyone watch that unironically?

Kek.
Stephen King was seriously coked out when he wrote that and (whatever role he was for the movie's production)

SNAPCHAT

2 and 3 are good actions imho, but clearly inferior to First Blood. But if you dislike First blood because of the sequels you have even greater incentive to hate Die Hard.

Yes, agreed. All great movies.

To be perfectly honest,
check out Cinemassacre's "80's a-thon"
Short synopsis of decent-great 80's movies of all types.

Beverly Hills Cop

Legend of Billie Jean

thats more of a comedy than an action movie

its pretty bad, but it's tradition

I also tend to drink a lot during Xmas
