Any Britfags here? Amerifag here with a serious question.

When you learn about the US seceding from Britain, what are some key points they teach you? Trying to compare it to American history.

We don't get taught it tbh. We have millennia of history and this was a minute chapter.

I took history in highschool and it was never taught. I don't know anything about it other than we got btfo.

This.

Some scumbags were butthurt about taxes and dumped tea in a river, lesson over, next.

I enjoy how they get to learn about their empire once being great. Now they get to learn the quran.

This actually makes sense. America's (All of it) history is short since school don't give a damn about prior civilizations. I've have this question myself with Spain instead.

Britfag who moved to the US here. British schools don't really go into any detail on the Revolutionary war.

Interesting, that's always a huge part of our American History classes.

Yeah, we don't really learn about it, except that there were 13 colonies, war with france indebted us (fuck the frogs), and tea was taxed high.

Also, when learning about the English civil war, we were told that after cromwell up and died, a bunch of his puritan followers, who didn't really like the sinful joyousness of Charles II up and went.

Other than that most brits are under the assumption that there was a war, and we patched up and were great friends after, but it seems to be post world war one when that happened.

Because it was an important part of American history. We, on the other hand, have a lot more material to cover. Also, we're still somewhat asspained that we lost.

We did win 1812 though, while we were fucking up the midget.

War of 1812 was really a draw, mate.

I get that you have more history, just thought it was interesting.

It wasn't a huge part for me in Mn I mean sure it was like a week or two in 7th or 8th grade American history and little bits before that.

America doesn't have much history so it's only natural it's a big deal for you.

Do your schools teach much about the pre-genocide era of America?

no shit

Mexifag? Filipinofag?

People who take history further as a subject will learn about it all.

From the highland clearances up to the War of Independence.

And it comes from George III's crazy taxation, including the infamous Stamp Act.

It was boiling away, and of course the Boston Tea Party as many think is the starting point wasn't.

Although Mass. was the first state to rebel in Concord (yes all your Fallout 4 fans, Minutemen vs Lobsterbacks in Concord). Shots were fired and it started the war.

The reason for the taxes was because of the French and Indian war, George III tried to tell people the taxes was for the protection of the colonies against the possible French attacks.

Colonists didn't believe it and refused, but it was done anyway.

Blah de blah blah... long war.

In America specifically, Pre-Christopher Columbus is usually one sentence. "There were Indians here before him."

no like a week maybe, not a ton to tell when your land was previously inhabited by peoples that didn't have a written language.

Which actually, What do Aussies teach about the Abos before they got there?

America has loads of history, but native americans left few records and much of what remains can't be read.

It was a huge part of American history, probably one of the most important events for us. For England, it was just another problem caused by the french and loosing (some?) of the colonies was more of a footnote as there were plenty of other colonies still under the empire.

I was never taught anything about it at school.

Yeah, sour relations. The Brits burned downed the original white house

Teacher here.

We teach American history starting at the Magna Carta.

You are grandma house. That's it.

Didn't get taught it. We did do the great deppresion and the proabition in year 10 and 11 though

Wow you are a sissy faggot

I wouldn't like remembering a right ass stomping either

thx m8

u mad m8?

No worries

We do give a damn about prior civilizations but there's so little we know about them. There's no recordings that the Natives made, so we can only speculate on events that were Pre-Columbian

But apparently not English classes.

Lol this.

They also skim over where the Mexicans came from

dude its called Mexico. Their fucking early grazing practices in the American west completely fucked it over

What the fuck are you talking about? American school spend a great deal of time teaching about central American native civilizations and the Spanish colonization.

Lol literally what I'm talking about.

Mexicans were mostly raped into existence as a part of Spain's exploration and conquest of the Indians. Some were born as the result of loving relationships between the Spanish and Indians.

The future is what we should be considering, history is useless.

This sounds interesting

We smashed, then you bashed us, nothing like a good fight between family

India is on the other side of the world, retard.

we're ready for the next round when ever you are, we wont use our guns this time, i swear... kek

Honestly, British primary education is generally pretty awful.

all education is shit

Could be that my schools had a biased curriculum than yours, but Spain's conquest of America was super downplayed in my education

>feather not dot
>casino not helpline

American Indians
Native Americans

I don't give a shit what you want to call them, but don't pretend you don't know what I mean

lol u madd

livid even

Having a major landmark burnt to the ground and then a peace treaty being signed doesn't sound like a draw

Yeah, it's not like we could rebuild it or anything

Because most history lessons are now built around the idea that white Americans are bad. Leftists took over academia and this is what we get.

neither side achieved their aims and the fighting was at a standstill. It was a pretty clear draw.

I guess it depends on where you live/go. I went to private schools, and while we were taught that some explorers waged war and fought the Indians, we were also taught that the Cajuns in Missouri got along with the Indians and that most Indians died from disease and not war.

We don't learn about it. It is a minor part of our history and most probably don't even know about your independence war.

>we got BTFO
Not really. We were fighting 4 other wars all around the globe. Napoleon was destroying us and laid siege to Gibraltar. We hadn't quite completely controlled the seas yet. We were bankrupt from the Seven Years War just a few years earlier. We were wrestling for control of India. We had to defend our island, Canada, USA, India, and our European holdings.

All this and we still managed to destroy France, defend Canada, completely control India, bankrupt Catholic Europe, defend our European colonies, and destroy all other navies.

>burned down the white house
>Americans burn the Canadian capital
>fighting was at a stand still
>everything would be different if the battle of New Orleans actually counted

I thought it was only the Canadians who got butt hurt over the War of 1812 but I guess it's the brit bongs too

We successfully defended Canada, got enough men to defeat Napoleon, and burned your capital to the ground. Why would we be butt hurt? Most Brits won't even know what the War of 1812 is.

not much. it's exactly the same.
the genocide of the abos have some funny parts.
my favourite is when they burried little black kids up to their necks alive in the ground and have competitions on who could kick their head off first.

also we have less history than america so we mostly learn about hero's like ganghis khan

In England they're more concerned about whether Edward II was really buggered to death with a hot poker or why they allowed Catholics to be put to death by some upstart Protestants.

They blow up policemen
(or so I have heard)
and blame it on Cromwell and William the Third.
–Flanders and Swann

In point of fact, the Mexica came originally from what is now called Utah, aka Aztlán. That's pre-Columbian history. Citizens of New Spain and the Mexican Repubic had colonized much of what is now the US.

You talk shit! Majority of uk fucking hate/does no tolerate the scum bag Arab Muslim faith
. Sad! But true
