I feel like stuff like Monty Python and Mr Bean and all that crap is far more popular in America than it is in Britain anyway. I'm British and have lived here all my life but I've never seen any Monty Python TV shows or sketches. I think I saw the Life of Brian when I was really young. Mr Bean I've never watched either besides that movie he did. I may be an anomaly but I've never enjoyed that kind of humour and never bothered watching it much.
The best British comedies are the dry ones, without silly accents and funny walks and laughter tracks and all that shite, such as The Thick of It, The Office, Extras, etc.
