The Fall

Underrated masterpiece? Or total lazy garbage?

I'm actually loving this and have been listening non-stop lately. Especially picturing being on the road in all the different locations.

I see this album written-off as the "iPad album", but I don't see why that matters if the music (or most of it) is catchy.

Thoughts?

it's a B-side album with one notable song.

Still better than humanz tho

but revolving doors and hillbilly man are 2 songs

I pronounce "Humanz" like a ferengi would.
what a dumb name

>B-side album

You know what is a "B-Side", right user?

In between Plastic Beach and Humanz I think it comes out on top

desu

DD = PB > D-Sides = Humanz > The Fall = s/t

jumping in here

honestly there isn't a bad Gorillaz album, and yeah I'm including the fall and Humanz.

This and s/t are the lowest for me because they happen to have less songs I like than others, but they're still solid in their own right and 10x better than a lot of shit out there these days.

Wth
PB = DD = TF = Gorillaz >> DS = GS > Humanz

I seriously do not get all this hate for Humanz. It's a great record and loads better than GS or The Fall, even if they both have great songs.

>DD=PB
what is this meme

I thought the thread was gonna be about the band the fall. /mu dissapointing as always

Lazy garbage, made to advertise the iPad. I don't even consider it a studio album.

Self Titled=Plastic Beach>Demon Days>D-Sides>Humanz>The Fall

But those two albums are universally regarded as their most important (and highest quality) albums

s/t has good cuts but is all over the place, the fall is interesting conceptually but not musically, humanz is their worst album and hardly even has damon singing on it. DD and PB are clearly their peak

Where should I start with The Fall?

>s/t has good cuts but is all over the place
How is self-titled all over the place but Demon Days and Plastic Beach not? You can just say you don't like it as much, because that's a ridiculous criticism.

Demon Days and Plastic Beach are all over the place in a fun way but I think s/t takes it too far with the genre experiments. I guess the main problem is that lots of songs on the s/t sound very unfinished and a few just seem like weird jokes that the audience isn't in on (namely Punk). At least Plastic Beach and Demon Days are sets of coherent songs

I guess I understand that. Personally I love self-titled and every single song on it. When that shit came out it sounded like absolutely nothing else.

This doesn't get mentioned enough.

This super whacky gorillaz album which is so unique and special because it was recorded on a fucking ipad so underrated bwah bwah bwah

Because it's not worth noting. It doesn't deliver anything near what their other albums do.

Someone explain the iPad meme to me please.

This board is able to praise experimental albums with 2 songs of lengths of 0:19 and 53:22 sounding like bonobos screeching and hitting wooden sticks but somehow making an album on a iPad is the worst thing ever.

I really like aspen forest.

not sure, but I have been listening to this on repeat for an hour

Plastic Beach>s/t=Demon Days >The Fall >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Humanz

Nobody likes that CONTRARIAN POSEUR SHITE here at r/mu dont worry fellow redditor we only like lowest denominator music here

Where are all these field recording loving weirdos hiding? I've been on here for like 5 years and I see people like you pulling these weird extremes out of your asses to make a point 10 times more than I see "field recordings of icebergs melting" or whatever getting talked about. There actually aren't that many avant teens on here who listen to music for it's inaccessibility.

Making an album on an ipad is a gimmick. If the music was good, it'd be an interesting experiment, but the end result was a bunch of demo quality material and in that sense was a failed experiment.

mu is filled with underages who think they are too cool for only listening to what p4k shoves down their throat so go figure

It's not a gorillaz album is why

the band are better

Amarillo is one of the best tracks they ever put out.

This.
>And (and) (and) you put the load right on me

Congrats on being underage

Not a masterpiece, but for what it is (an iPad album), it's actually a good listen. Sure, the songs are a bunch of amateurish GarageBand demos, but come on, Damon Albarn made these while bored on tour. Were people really expecting Plastic Beach 2.0 or something like that? And it was released for free back on Christmas 2010. Amarillo is a top-tier Gorillaz song desu

what do you have against s/t you cuck

I love it, it's a great concept album and an interesting experiment.
The Fall = S/t = D sides > Platic Beach >> Demon Days=G sides >>>>>>>>>> Humanz

it's okay. worst gorillaz album but a good listen!

Nothing, I love all of them, I just see it in tiers of how many songs on the album I would delete.

Tier 1 - DD = PB
Tier 2 - DS = Humanz
Tier 3 - S/t > The Fall, although not by much.

s/t has good cuts, but over all doesnt do much for me. Some of the remixes are much better than the originals, textbook example would be 19-2000.

>he deletes songs off the album
pathetic and weak

Bobby in Phoenix is one of the best songs they've put out

this

i found really good tunes on this album, but its nothing special. Phoner of arizona and revolving doors are my favorite.
