I am a sucker for long sequence shots. What directors nail that and where?

Children of Man for sure
That guy who did The russian ark
Goodfellas.
Did you grow up watching a lot of 90's music videos, OP?
'Elephant' by Gus van Sant.
Flick is about the Columbine shootings. One of the best examples of long ass takes in my opinion. Movie will be good or bad depending on your personal taste but has a gay shower scene so I am sure Sup Forums will love it :]
Yea, a lot of movies have tried to do that "one continuous take" thing lately, but The Russian Ark was fucking amazing.
Paths of Glory
the ong bak i'm going upstairs scene?
>Show in local tv
>Long shoot episode aired
>They put commercials in the middle of the long shoot
I kek'd too fucking much at those retards complaining in the internet about it.
On my phone but look up the music video for Los campesinos - avocado
Henry & Karen taking the back way into the Copa - goodfellas
not the longest but I really like the overhead shot of the prison in Shawshank Redemption at the beginning, when the bus of new prisoners drives up
As long as we're doing music videos

The GOAT
Just watched this. Fucking beautiful
Also. Children of Men
two of my favorites are the opnings of
Altman's The Player (8 minutes in perfection)
vimeo.com
and Welles' Touch of Evil
youtube.com
also watch Victoria if you haven't seen it. The whole movie is shot in one 140min take, the story is ok, though It worked for me, but the camera work and most of the acting is fucking brilliant

Steve McQueen uses it a lot. His long takes are effective, but not very flashy.

This particular scene was shot in one take with two cameras, one filming Fassbender and the other filming Mulligan.
The opening of Boogie Nights
The opening of Pride and Prejudice (don't judge)
The climax of The Royal Tenenbaums
The hallway sequence in Exorcist 3 (simple but effective)
Collecting the votes at prom in Carrie
Head Over Heals sequence in Donnie Darko (more like 2 semi-long takes but still neat)
Rope has a bunch
PTA
Robert Altman
Max Ophuls
Joe Wright
Tarr's Macbeth which consists of two shots - one 5 minute long and the other an hour long
Angelopoulos
Weerasethakul
Tarkovsky
Tarr
Diaz
Victoria
That start of one of the season 2 Better Call Saul episodes had a GOAT long sequence shot of border control.
Naturally.

A Dutch/Indonesian director called Leonard Retel Helmrich does amazing shots using cheap digital cameras and simple improvised rigs and mounts

It's a TV Show but I really like this one.
Gravity had some pretty good long takes imo, despite being Gravity.
Birdman had some damn good ones too.
>1:28
Made my heart skip a beat. This looks interesting

It's a movie without a single cut.
Spielberg does it well.
You usually don't notice the without successive viewings.
Pride and Prejudice is fantastic.
meme movie
first post best post
The hospital shootout in Hard Boiled is pretty cool.
Can't believe no one's mentioned Birdman yet.
...
Well, aren't I a spastic. No idea how I missed that one, but I'll accept the revocation of my Sup Forums kino-club card.
creed had a great boxing long shoot, caught me by surprise
>that typical surly nigger face
No thank you.
>Hardest to stomach is Inarritu and cameraman Emmanuel Lubezki’s ever-circling, see-sawing visuals. Unlike Bogdanovich’s audaciously timed staging in Noises Off or the sensual, blissful, visionary camerawork of Mexico’s greatest director, Julian Hernandez, this style calls attention to itself, which precludes perception and feeling. A pause, or a cut, might provide intellectual rest and allow contemplation; Birdman’s antics just beg for applause. Banality, thy name is Inarritu.
>Almond
Inarritu is the one of the best pleb filters
Pseuds absolutely adore his pretensions of art an enlightenment when really he's only good at schlocky genre stuff. He's like a more stylized Nolan.
>spank bank
Tarkovsky films have a ton of long takes, Stalker and Nostalghia have ones that go on pretty long
Can't forget the one redeeming point of specter:
Pretty much all Tarr films but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.
