They gave full creative control to Tartakovsky, and so far everything is perfect, on par with what you expect from the old Jack, and giving us the darker side in a way that blends and makes sense.
It's simple, Jack and She demon fight Aku, Aku kills her, but Jack defeats Aku.
Jack goes back into time and his fight with Aku is like Yamcha (Aku) fighting a saibamen (Jack).
