If you want to get rank fast and get your dick sucked by leadership, try to get your tab. Even if you fail ranger school, your leadership will see you as someone who tries. If they make fun of you for failing say "wheres your tab fgt?"

well 270 is pretty hard to pull off, if you're not in great shape when you join.
BUT, this user is correct that the higher your PT score, the better you're treated in the army. I figured that shit out and 3 or 4 days a week, I worked at PT on my own for a year. It brought my scores up substantially. Pushups were the hardest for me. I was happy when I got to 55, not many guys can really do that many.

Question about uniforms, when is the acceptable time to get your name tape sewn on?

I dunno the regs for the new uniforms. I got out before they were mandatory. On the ACUS, if you got US Army and your name tape sewed on, you had to get your rank sewed on also. It's a more crisp, professional look than shitty velcro (hook and loop fasteners)

With the new unforms, which I love to death. (I hated the ACUS) The name tape is all Velcro which in the field is annoying as hell to pick it up if your IOV takes it off with certain movements.
I've heard that before, is there a certain reason as to why? Do you /have/ to stay at Specialist for a while? Or could you get Corporal in some way?

If you're not a dirt bag you can make SPC quickly. You need 12 months as a specialist and 18 months in the Army before you can goto the promotion board for your SGT, if I remember correctly
My numbers could be off. Could be 8 months time in grade.
Either way, a lateral promotion to CPL can only happen if you're promotable, meaning you've gone to the SGT board but don'thave points to get picked up.
Ask your first line when you get to Germany. If they're not an ass, they'll steer you right

How do I make SPC in less than 6 months? I'm just a couple of months in and people are still treating me as a bitch boy, carrying all the shit in my pack that people don't want to carry in theirs.

Get a 300 on your pt test, show up 15 minutes prior and be the guy that always volunteers even if it's gay shit. If your body is cut out for the army it's pretty easy

Commanders want to be on my good side because the BDE and Div commanders get a report of our media outputs. Love my life- probably the only Army person that says that. About two weeks later I got into an Ivy league college and cried like a pathetic snivelling pussy to my step dad (ex-green beret) about not wanting to go to war. My mother threatened to leave him if he didn't convince the army to let me stay. I guess it worked because I didn't go to the airforce.
