I know everyone will think I'm full of shit, but I want an opinion here.
I'm a 20 year old college student and I can choose between a new Subaru WRX STi and a slightly used Nissan GT-R for a new car. I know the STi is more practical for college and such, but the GT-R is... a GT-R. I can get the WRX STi in 3 months but I'll have to wait a year for the GT-R. I'm currently driving a Toyota 86. GTR or STi. I can't decide. They both have their advantages.
Hold out for the GTR. The 86 is still a fun car to get you there. New STIs aren't anything that spectacular.
Josiah Adams
I already have a Jeep Cherokee that my family has just for business. They never use it, so I can drive it whenever I want. I usually drive it in the winter. I just want some practicality in MY car.
Yup. I mean, I'm not bragging. I'm legit just getting opinions here.
Charles Anderson
GTR will be more fun
i've put about 200 miles on a 2015 model
i fucking hate sports cars, but if i was to buy one i would choose a GTR
Christian Turner
being able to buy a car doesn't mean you can afford to maintain it, I highly doubt you'll be able to keep up with the GT-Rs maintenance costs, the transmissions tend to shit themselves and if something goes wrong it's usually electronic such as the AWD system or all the other race car nannies. tires on them are fucking huge and expensive too. even a WRX will be hard to keep up with but that'll be far better in every way in your situation especially
Ryder Myers
Mustang convertible. Women like convertible over wannabe track cars.
Levi Lopez
That's probably what I'll do. I'll be happier in the long run.
I'm still deciding on the color I want. I could get a nice blacked out one that'll blend in, or be full on Arab with a crazy wrap.
Ian Morgan
Wrx. You don't race don't act like it. It's unironically one of the best cars ever made.
Cooper Brooks
How's the 86?
Noah Clark
A GTR and an STI are not comparable. If you're finding a GTR at the same price as a new STI, you're in for a lot of extremely expensive maintenance.
Lincoln Jones
Get something fun man. Just don't forget all the maintenance costs.
Chase Martin
New car known for being quality and reliable > used car known for being expensive to maintain
Wyatt Jackson
you will never know shit about what women want
Lincoln Cook
I've been told by many GTR owners that if I can afford the trashiest and most fucked up R35, the maintenance will be fine. The transmissions are only fucked in the 2013 and lower years. I'm looking at a 2015 or 2014.
Zachary Russell
Black looks good but it fucking sucks to keep nice. Swirl marks for days. Sliver stays clean the longest.
Hunter Rogers
???? 35k ish 4 door sedan vs 100k sports oriented car?
You sound like a fag if you're choosing between these two. Get a vette or porsche. Maybe even a viper. GTR's aren't super unique and are boring to drive.
As for the sti, just don't. Buy a dildo in the meantime and wait.
Blake Gonzalez
this. enjoy rebuilding literally every part of some dumbass ricer's handmedown, red-lined, beat to fuck rustbucket of a GTR
Aaron Lee
It's a great car! Just lacking in power and it's awful in rain. It rains a lot where I'm from so I like AWD and such.
I'm willing to pay 75k for the GTR.
I know. GTRs really aren't as bad as you think.
Used being around 7000 miles, though.
1995 Mustang GT convert in 5 speed was my first car. I miss it, sometimes.
Does street racing count?
Ethan White
Get the slightly used GT-R. If I was an Aussie I'd be driving a skyline r34.
Justin Torres
I own a 2015 STI and they're super fun, plus a ton of mods. The only downside is the gas mileage. Only getting around 18mpg city and 21 highway if that. Plus it takes premium gas. It's around $60 to fill it up, and you'll prob need to fill up once every 10 days.
I don't like Corvettes. Any Porsche I really like is out of budget. A Viper will kill me. I've just always loved the GTR.
I'll wrap it to keep the paint safe.
Landon Allen
If money isn't an object here, why are you even cross-shopping these cars? The GTR is better in every conceivable way but cost.
Anthony Perry
im 19 in the UK and in the middle of buying an r34
Evan Harris
Other note I paid around 39k with taxes for the 2015 STI
Austin Richardson
I know that feel. I drive my 86 like a hoon, so my mpg is absolute trash.
Andrew Gomez
Go the STI. They aren't as 'rare', but because of this parts are way cheaper and easier to come by, got a massive cult following so you'll be able to get any help you might need really easy. AWD is a bonus as well.
I've heard that the new GT-Rs don't feel that great to drive, usually people seem to say they are 'stiff'.
However if you'd consider it, get a 1998 or 1999 GT-R. IMO it's one of the nicest performance cars you can get and it's a massive head turner.
Jaxson Butler
the GTR will get you laid alone, no one sees an STI and goes whoa that looks good
Brandon Perry
This
The GTR and the WRX aren't even in the same league. If cost isn't a factor of course the GTR is better.
Levi Parker
STI owner in the pic above, more dudes will come up to you than chicks
Ian Nguyen
I like Subaru's AWD system, I'm a rally enthusiast, I like the 4 doors aspect, I like the blue paint, etc.
It would be cool to get a Skyline GT-R but I don't want dude bros mobbing me every 12 seconds.
Ryan Phillips
No car gets you laid. Girls only see a nice car and think nice car = $. They are just fucking you hoping you will be their sugar daddy.
Cool cars just attract other dudes. Cars that look expensive attracts gold digging sluts.
Dylan Roberts
I'm only attracted to Asian girls. Don't know if they'd be the type to fall for a GTR. They're more BMW impressed, right?
Brayden Perry
If you cant wait 12 months for the current king of rice burners then you sound like a ignorant little shit that gets things too easy.
You dont have kids, a 2 seater should be fine
Hudson Torres
GTRs are gay and overpleb3d
>bbbut.. muh drem carr
you and every other 13 year old. get the STi and be a real man.
Thomas Scott
...
Chase Sullivan
...
Lucas Johnson
I can respect that. Honestly, I would recommend the Subaru. It's going to be a riot in the streets and still be fun while not getting you killed or arrested trying to find the limits. Unless you're going for the prestige and utter ridiculousness of its capability, a GTR isn't a very inspiring car (coming from someone who idolizes the thing's performance).
Jacob Anderson
The gtr is only available in autotragic, fuck that shit, be a man, get the STi.
Zachary Barnes
get an older sti. they look better that the new ones with the retarded spoiler
Jacob Adams
youre dumb. youre a vapid cunt who has sex . being attractive and interestibg. all 3? > get outta here. crazy intelligent attractive. pick 2. youre crazy and attractivr therefore you are dumb as rocks. when youre old youll have no value. your looks will fade. all the time you learned to market yourself, network, and build valuable relationships? that will be gone as well i know this because im a retarded it worker with no friends and a stem degree which means im a critical thinker
the best you could do is fuck some old man and get preggnant and divorce him for hald his stuff because the courts are biased against men and men do all the work and women get half their stuff which is friggin bullshit
Ayden Hill
I love that interior so much. That is something I don't like about the GT-R. Always loved Subie interiors.
I just like speed and I love Asian cars. A dream car, though? Hell no. Any well budgeted adult can get a GTR. My dream is a Pagani Zonda.
Aiden Rodriguez
learn to modify and youll be able to go fater than youll ever be able to really use in the STi
Cameron Sanders
nice essay hombre
Liam Young
Yea the leather is nice as fuck, and the center of the seat is this soft teflon coated cloth so nothing ever really stains the shit. Liquid just beads up and never soaks in
Jacob Adams
Nice trips
Easton Harris
What was Tupacs relationship with the prison system? Does he talk about how many blacks are put in jail?
John Torres
I'm a 19 year old who's currently building up multiple businesses while in college, I've had sex quite a few times, and I've had more girlfriends than I can count on two hands.
I mean, I'm doing pretty well. I didn't want to be a bragging douche here but you asked for it a bit.
Jack Foster
Only complaint about the STI is the stock high beams. The normal headlights are LED and then the high beams are just that regular bulb bullshit. But it was an easy $120 replacement to get halogens
Jaxon Collins
I like the older ones but good luck finding one that isn't modded to shit.
Yeah. Modding a GTR isn't really for someone my age, to be fair.
It has more of a supercar feel than the GTR does, really.
I'm actually half black. I don't like black people, though.
Jaxson Bell
Car fag here...
This is a piss-poor place to get car advice, as I doubt even 20% of the fags posting are old enough to drive.
I don't know exactly what your decision criteria is, but you need to do whatever it takes to spend a little time with both cars and figure out which one you like the best. Both are similar in terms of operating cost and insurance cost, so simply buy the one that you think will be the most fun.
And ignore the fags telling you to buy XXX...just get whatever the hell you want and can afford.
Ryan Jones
Hypothetically, if I'm a cunt who wants attention, what wrap should I go with on both the GTR or STi. I think I can do something crazy on both. Chrome gold, baby blue, etc.
Angel Stewart
I think I'll probably go with the GTR. It's more flamboyant and attention grabbing, yet subdued in a way. I think the STi looks too kiddish with the spoiler. I'm so fucking indecisive.
Jonathan Brown
i meant modding the STi, because there is an overwealth of info out there on modding subarus. i have one myself and have spent a lot of time and money making my subaru an evo eater
Dominic Walker
Your rice burning faggot cars
Easton Kelly
Check out this page, a bunch of cool wraps and other shit you can do to the subie, I prefer the Tiffany blue wrap
Julian Howard
Will do! I like that purple!
I've had an obsession with Asian culture and specifically Japan since I was a kid. I don't even like anime, though. What car do you drive?
I've driven them a few times and for some reason, the STi doesn't feel that fast to me. Am I the only one? I don't understand why.
Henry Johnson
GTR, easy. You'll get laid.
Colton Rodriguez
well then youve never driven one who was owned by someone who gave a shit about increasing the power. my guess is youve only driven one stock. if youre not into modifying cars and you just want to get in and go fast, then your obvious choice is to go gtr
Christopher Thomas
Even a slightly modded STI can smash a Stangs and Camaros
Lucas Collins
Just get a fucking civic. Why do you need a sport car for university?
Juan Hughes
Well, yeah. STis are fast but they aren't mindblowing like I expected.
Yeah, they were all stock.
Brayden King
Because I'm an enthusiast and I have the money.
Jordan Stewart
Your best bet is to buy an STI and just mod it up. And if you get the right shit it'll blow a GTR out of the water.
Henry Garcia
it becomes mind blowing when you revamp your whole turbo/fuel/intake system. put 10k into that STi and i bet youll see 5-600awhp easy peasy
Jayden Torres
then ringlands
Carter Turner
An "enthusiast" wouldn't be deciding between a shitty tuner and a more expensive shitty tuner..
Chase Ramirez
tru
Luis Brooks
EJ257 were notorius for this
the EJ207 AND FA207s do not see as much failure in these areas
Christopher Foster
Then what car should I buy, all mighty car god?
Austin Peterson
Supraaaaaaaaaa
Gavin Cruz
...
Easton Carter
I don't want an older car. I like them, though. Plus, AWD
David James
Goodluck ever selling that vette for a reasonable price. No one is buying those privately and trade ins are shit
Liam Lopez
>Corvette
Of course. What else would someone who can't respect other tastes in cars drive? Aren't you the dude from Texas or Oklahoma?
Jaxon Morris
How about a Lexus IS 350 F Sport RWD? Or maybe a Mustang?
Nathaniel Morales
>Jeep Cherokee XJ or grocery grabber?
The thing is, for a vehicle in that price range, you can get something way more unique and cool than a GTR, and definitely way more than an STi.
Land Rover Defender? Willy Jeep? Old CJ? Fully restored Land Cruiser?
I just don't get why you'd want to look for something so boring, tbh.
Jackson Bennett
MUSTANG?! GET THE FUCK OUT NORMIE REEEEEEEEE
Dominic Jackson
the GT-R if it is anything below like 45 it def has transmission problems. all the first few years including up to now have glass transmission. that car is actual ass and has the build quality of a sentra.
Gabriel Watson
Honestly, they aren't boring to me. They're extremely exciting. I'm not that much of an American car fan, honestly.
Grocery grabber. Some 4x4 limited shit
Parker Baker
I'll spend 75-80k on the GTR.
Xavier Price
Fine, then how about the Lexus
Carson Clark
Does anyone own an STi or GTR here? Please timestamp.
Noah Evans
I was in a similar position as yourself OP. Instead of an STI, I grabbed a Focus RS instead. Same price range with a little more power
Evan Walker
Lexus is a bit slow and I like AWD.
Lexus would be best for attracting Asian girls, though.
Jackson Morris
>jeep Why the fuck would you suggest an unreliable car, you faggot? Also, camaros aren't practical.
Alexander Long
year / miles and has it seen track use or has the owner ever engaged launch control?
William Cruz
Yes....you remembered. Are you the one that cried bs, then I sent you the bread on the hood pic?
William Ramirez
I love those but I'm worried that they're a fad in the US. I'd give it 3 more years before thinking about one.
Matthew Peterson
No. I saw you like, a year or so ago. I don't post much.
Plus, why would I call BS on an old Porsche and an old Vette? I see them all the time.
Levi Martin
Can't timestamp but I'm the owner of the STI in the pics above. It's 1130pm here and I'm not walking outside
Aiden Watson
Back when I first got her :,(
John Sanders
Ford marketing definitely had a hay day with it. My choice was more based on not copying all my buddies with Subaru's
Oliver Stewart
It's a 2013 gs I love it!
Jace Collins
But a GTR is so basic, OP. I'm not saying every kid has one, but when it comes to upper-middle class around here in Nashville, that's not very uncommon. I mean even the Nissan dealership in one of the smaller towns around here has a few on the lot. They're just so bland in comparison to some other vehicles when it comes to higher price ranges.
Because it's fun, you learn a lot about your vehicle, can go innawoods, and have some some fuccboi's gf checking you out when he pulls up to you at a red light in his civic and you and your pup are chilling with a canoe on the roof.
They can't be as bad as the JK fad.
David White
2011 S 400hp v8 German engineering way better than the Chevy
Jeremiah Fisher
...
Kayden Rivera
>Because it's fun, you learn a lot about your vehicle, can go innawoods, and have some some fuccboi's gf checking you out when he pulls up to you at a red light in his civic and you and your pup are chilling with a canoe on the roof. >fun Not really. I like being able to go 0-60 in... at least some time. I drive a 300 hp beast that feels very planted around corners.
Eli Rodriguez
What are you saying "not really" to? Are you talking about the fun part? Because if so, I don't think you've ever been off-road, m8. Have you ever torn down a dirt road in the Rocky Mountains doing 65 with no issues and a couple mild bumps here and there? Or do you like having to to slowly creep over a speed bump in the Publix parking lot hoping you don't scrape mom and dad's car and have them yell at you?
Unless you're the type of potato who doesn't even go /out/, in which case I guess there's probably no saving you anyway.
