A lot of the best punk stuff going right now is bleeding into other genres. Some bands are almost indie, like Touché Amoré, Beach Slang, and PUP. Others are crossing over into extreme metal, like Oathbreaker, Martyrdöd, and Sarabante. Now crusties are bleeding over into Appalachian folk, like Rail Yard Ghosts and Days N Daze. It seems like things are in transition right now, and punk is evolving in new directions, to the point where soon it may not be recognizable as punk anymore.
