What do you want to know?

Black people talk fast. And rhyme. Over samples of music better then they could ever make.

Ok.

This man has listened to 5 hip hop songs.
Maybe a whole album if we're being generous.

...

After embarking on a long journey to understand hip-hop, I have discovered that Jazz-rap is all you need.

Missing a ton of underrated gems like Injury Reserve
Too much trap rap
Death Grips doesn't deserve to be there three times and if they do then remove TPTB and just do NOTM

Why would you remove TPAB?

reread teh post

listen to everything that isn't popular now and you'll be fine. i know it sounds like the wrong generation for rap but kendrick is a shit pop star that doesn't make his own music and mumble rap/meme rap are fucking obnoxious excuses of hip hop

Emotionally dishonest.

fuck white people

I thought about putting in Floss instead of one of the 16 albums.

(Protip: I'm not replacing The Suns Tirade)

I try to like hip hop but I just can't, I can only like MF DOOM, Danny Brown and OutKast. Guess i'm just too white.

Where's Kanye? Early Kanye is essential nerd rap

also the EARL mixtape deserves to be in the 2010 row. Has aged surprisingly well and the edgy subject matter isn't as jarring or detracting as you'd think

Maybe some Clams Casino as well? Or Beastie Boys- Hot Sauce Committee? Idk man, there's a lot of better stuff out there than Das Racist

>the EARL mixtape deserves to be in the 2010 row
Like fucking hell it does.

I'll consider the other two to replace Das Racist though. I was considering having a thread at the end of the year to add a 2017 row and swap out some weaker ones.

Okay just don't listen to me then bitchboi. Consensus here on the mixtape is generally what I've said

Cause calling me 'bitchboi' will get me to take your side, right?

>Consensus here on the mixtape is generally what I've said
When you get someone to back you I'll take your word for it.

You put Wolf and Jeffery on there. I'd take issue with that but the point of these charts are to put personal biases aside. Explain your personal gripes with the mixtape or refute what I've said or you're worthless.

alright sorry I'm rude but can't you at least concede that EARL deserves to be there as a sort of "witness the evolution of an artist" type thing? Sort of like how S80 is a lackluster project but it's fascinating watching Kendrick progress from there

I fucking hated Jeffery and I still put that on.

I tried to go with majority rule and I'm not gonna add an album just because some rude ass begs me too. It was annoying enough with YT stans. Plus Earl already has 2 albums that I thought were decent and represent him much better.

fair enough but the selection for 2010 is mediocre as it stands. Not your fault obviously but that just means putting EARL there wouldn't make much of a difference no matter your stance on it. And bro listen to yourself, I'm not begging for anything; I have photoshop and could easily propagate an alternate version of this chart. That's not a threat but you still haven't divulged your issues with the mixtape which is all I'm asking at this point.

>That's not a threat but you still haven't divulged your issues with the mixtape which is all I'm asking at this point.
It's the same issue I have with Goblin and a lot of other BS from early odd future. I hate the beatwork and the edgy shock-lyrics are one of my least favorite things about hip hop.

It's cool, that's understandable. Personally, and this goes back to my original post, I feel that in Earl's case the edginess doesn't undermine the music itself because of his lyrical prowess and technical ability. It's not entirely LEAGUES above the rest of OF schlock but it is in its own category, just a tier below Doris.

In a few months I'll be doing a thread to add a 2017 row. I'll be willing to do a few more swapouts too. Maybe I can take out Flocka or some other stuff I didn't like in 10. We'll see.

you're gonna listen for a while and think you know everything because you think the 90s were the best era and lil wayne is trash but in the end you'll realize that almost every scene of rap music has some great albums and we are in the creative peak right now

also theres this imgur.com/Svr0k4u

>and we are in the creative peak right now
Questionable but everything else seems fair.

cool. Yeah, I'd say Beastie Boys' final album and both the Injury Reserve projects should definitely be considered. As for the Earl mixtape wel, I'm sick of fucking talking about it but I still stand by my points

Agreed
