Probably one of those mid-2000s death/dethcore bands.
Not their biggest fan but job for a cowboy was heavy. That was a very new sound when they debuted.
Lot of heavy, explosive music at that time. Even power metal bands like dragonforce had some explosive sounds.
My guess is that it was a reaction to emo, which was very popular in the mainstream. Cannibal Corpse's "make them suffer" was an amazing example of the metal reaction to emo/screamo.

Seems to be a kind of innate split in the way people hear aggression/heaviness. There always seems to be this definite line between people who are into tech death and people who are completely opposed. I like tech death and for me, the mechanical feel is part of the aggression.
