Are there any film series where the 3rd film is better than the first two?

Are there any film series where the 3rd film is better than the first two?

the bourne trilogy
star wars prequels
three colors
mad max

Even in this terrible picture with this terrible hair, he still looks good

Fast and Furious

A series where the first two are shit

Iron Man

Beyond Thunderdome better than the first two?
GTFO

Die Hard
Indiana Jones

I know I will get shit for this but
PUSHER 3

The Dark Knight Rises

Madagascar 3
Impossibly each movie in the series was better then the one before, probably because the writers changed each time and 3's was written by the guys behind Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Back to the Future

RETURN OF THE KING, YOU LIMP-DICKED FAGGOTS

I'd say The Good, the Bad and the Ugly but they're all great so it's not the undisputed best, just a matter of opinion

transformers

He looks like Caleb from Bates Motel

>The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

that's not a film series.

Dollars trilogy

LOTR

fighting > faggy story

the fact that autistic people call it a trilogy doesn't make it one.

it's a standalone movie.

the fact that autistic people call it a standalone film doesn't make it one.

It's part of a trilogy

do I need to see the previous 2 movies to understand anything?
are the 3 movies about the exact same story?

the answer for both is no.
the only reason it's called a trilogy is because the marketing deparment called it that, and literal autists call them a trilogy, the only thing they've got in common is a character that we can't even tell is the same because no one ever mentions his name.

and if anything, he's called by a diferent nickname in the good the bad and the ugly.

your argument was great though, copying my coment and changing a word, very insightful.

>tfw never seen 1 or 2
>still love 3

whatever 1 and 2 were setting up mustve been pretty fucking useless cause as a standalone 3 works perfectly

that's because they are 3 unrelated movies, my friend.
and yes, everyone should love the good the bad and the ugly.

>Beyond Thunderdome is better than Road Warrior
kys immediately

pretty good bait desu

would you consider the Cornetto trilogy a trilogy?

Bourne
Die hard
M:I

ofcourse not.

even Nick keeps saying that he doesn't understand why people call it a trilogy.

Ghostbusters 3

interesting. agree to disagree on definition of a trilogy then.

tbf Cornetto is hardly a trilogy but if they want to call it one, i'm not going to complain

...

>tbf Cornetto is hardly a trilogy but if they want to call it one, i'm not going to complain
they don't.
just like it happened with leone's movies, the people in charge of marketing decided to call it a trilogy, and retards now just call them trilogies because they can't think for themselves.

Also there's a difference between a trilogy and a sequel. When people think trilogy or series, they think 1-2-3 of one story, not 3 movies with loose thematic ties.

Antichrist, Meloncholia and Nymphomanic are a trilogy, but they ain't a series.

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN

GOLDFINGER

STAR WARS EPISODE VI: RETURN OF THE JEDI

THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM

INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE

ARMY OF DARKNESS (BEST)

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY (Dollars trilogy, which includes A Fistful of Dollars and A Few Dollars More)

Indiana Jones

Ocean's 13

your post is very confusing.
are trilogies and series the same or not?

Ocean's Thirteen is better than the last two.

No. When people think of a series, they think a serial about the same characters. Indiana Jones, Riggs/Murtaugh, McClane, etc.

They don't think of a director exploring different ways of looking at a theme, like Von Trier in the films listed. One film has nothing to do with the other.

Batman Forever
TMNT 3
Terminator 3
Alien 3

sure, but would you consider the dollars or cornetto trilogies to be actual trilogies for example?

Rush Hour
The Godfather
Nolan Batman
Lethal Weapon
Mad Max
Blade
X-Men
Psycho
Jarhead

No. They weren't intended to be.

>Terminator 3

This is some tasty bait

Die Hard

I know why you said that but no.1 still the superior

Harry Potter
Indiana Jones

This. Also Mission:Impossible

Scary Movie

>This. Also Mission:Impossible

No fucking way, i like 3 but it's not better than 1

That's fair. They're all equally good. It just depends whose story appeals to you most so for me it was 2.

>Any of them except AOD
>Trilogies

Toy Story

This.

Totally agree.
This was the first one I saw cause it used to be on Netflix,so I may be biased.

I prefer Army of Darkness to ED1 and 2

It's the continuation of a character's life. What about any die hard movie requires previous instalment reference? If it's about the same setting with the same characters, it's a series of those characters' stories. In fact you don't even need the same setting. Ernest movies were all stand alone but part of the Ernest trilogy. Like marvel cinematic universe is the marvel movie series, but because of all the different characters that are used as focal points it's divided into trilogies.

That's like calling melancholia, antichrist, and nymphomaniac a trilogy
