Is a film adaptation that lives up to the source material possible?

Is a film adaptation that lives up to the source material possible?

no

>guy kills demons! the movie
It would be boring

There was one and it sucked

just play the damn game

Of course its possible, but Hollywood executives think it's more profitable to employ talentless hacks that follow orders instead of actual artists.

Animal Crossing and Mortal Kombat nigger.

No.

No, because the source material works best as a game. DOOM is good because it is fun to play. If a movie existed, it would lack the gameplay, and not be good.

But my interests aren't vindicated unless they have a movie.

The first Mortal Kombat movie was as close as we are ever going to get.

This is complete nonsense. The gameplay is not relevant, they are making a movie. They are adapting the story and setting. It's a different medium.

The Godfather, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining, American Psycho, and No Country for Old Men were pretty good adaptations.

>source material

it doesn't even exist. this is why the new doom was so well received, the owned the fact that there isn't a story

This is actually a really good book.

THERE IS A DOOM MOVIE

It does have a story even if it's very basic. And it has certain design elements to it. The movie could have been much more faithful to the game.

Explain the story, characters and plot of Doom.

If you don't know, then why are you arguing about this?

Regardless of certain statements from Carmack, DOOM always had a story.

>RIP in peace Daisy
>never forget

Scientists on Phobos open up a portal to Hell, and unleash hordes of demos upon the research base. Everybody but one is either killed or turned into a hellish beast. A lone marine battles his way to the center the anomaly, where he is ambushed, dies, and goes to Hell. There, he kicks the asses of the leader of the attack, the Cyberdemon, as well as the mastermind behind the invasion, the Spider Mastermind.

As the marine fights his way out of Hell, monsters from Hell have already invaded Earth and killed his pet bunny, as well as the majority of Earth's population. The marine returns to Earth, saves the surviving humans, returns to Hell through a portal in the middle of this hometown, and defeats the ultimate evil, The Icon Of Sin.

It's not a very deep story, but it is a story.

There's also some minor backstory in the manual for Doomguy.

...

>evil dead is boring
also that was what it should've been in the first place
evil dead+aliens

You will need to go full hardcore henry but with demons.
Actually it sounds pretty good.

Postal.

unlikely but the prequel already exists and its great

> If a movie existed
> Doom

hmm

They should remake it using Doom 3's storyline. It's a little more detailed.

Doomguy was sent to Phobos after he shots some civilians. He is a fucking psycho who only can feels good when he have a shotgun between his hands.

You don't need a deep or complex plot to make a good movie, though. just some poetry. But a Doom movie should have too much personality and charm for modern and bland Hollywood

And boring

If written by Raimi

This is true. A movie/ series based on the book series would be watchable.

I actually liked it :-) Nice atmosphere

i enjoyed it, i just dont consider it a Doom movie

Doomguy assaulted a superior officer for ordering them to fire on civilians.

>DOOM always had a story.
ya reach the end of the level asap

>YOU'VE DONE IT! THE HIDEOUS CYBER-DEMON LORD THAT RULED THE LOST DEIMOS MOON BASE HAS BEEN SLAIN AND YOU ARE TRIUMPHANT! BUT ... WHERE ARE YOU? YOU CLAMBER TO THE EDGE OF THE MOON AND LOOK DOWN TO SEE THE AWFUL TRUTH.

>DEIMOS FLOATS ABOVE HELL ITSELF! YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF ANYONE ESCAPING FROM HELL, BUT YOU'LL MAKE THE BASTARDS SORRY THEY EVER HEARD OF YOU! QUICKLY, YOU RAPPEL DOWN TO THE SURFACE OF HELL.

It's kind of kino
