neither can most Americans to be fair.

How is this even possible

>But determining that benchmark for the rigorous new test won't be easy. Forty-three percent of third-graders were "minimally proficient" in reading and would have been at risk of being held back, according to the latest scores.

This thread is about australia friend, not aztlan

I guess they were not kidding when they said aussies are very americanized

>Ausillterians

Wot?

啊在不他我

>Uses video of an elderly white woman to make it seem like this is a problem for all australians

>It's actually probably just Abos.

什么?

Abos are a small % of the population.
I really don't think this is an issue. My parents both quit high school early but can read novels. I can read this thread.
Maybe some that are particularly elderly struggle, not that I've ever seen that case.

>I can read this thread.
*pats head*

Here you go little buddy

whew, and I thought my country was bad with it's 25% of functionally illiterate people.

Is this a developed world thing? Like the more well off a country is, the more dumdums they have, because they don't have to fight for resources, food and such?

>My parents both quit high school early but can read novels
jesus christ

It's not.

>It's actually probably just Abos.
Even the drunk aboriginals who spend their days shouting at people in public parks can read better than what the bullshit in the op insinuated.

>Is this a developed world thing?
It's not. The actual source of these statistics is a biased selection done by an organisation which financially benefits from lower literacy rates, because they can be given more government money.
It would be rare to find people under 60 who couldn't read. Those people basically have learning problems or are mentally retarded.

I have no idea what you're on about.

>mexicans

user, I think you may have literacy problems yourself, lol. Functional illiteracy means people can read the text, but not understand it.
>It would be rare to find people under 60 who couldn't read
Oh yeah. They can read. They just have serious trouble summarizing what the hell was the book about.

It's very simple. Immigrants can't read English. Hard to be literate when a translator is needed.

And the proportion of 'aussies' that are foreigners is massive.

>the Aussies that are on here are smart ones

...

...

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE

It's a meme. Explained in this thread already by Only Tasmania would be anywhere near that number

>go to Sydney cbd and north shore for your survey on literacy
>ask every slant you meet
>half of them don't understand anything
Shocking

一看就是用谷歌乱翻译的

it wasn't even a translation, I changed my keyboard to "wubi xing" and typed random letters

Fuck off we're full.

>there are even dumber aussies in real life

I saw an article the other day saying 73% of Americans will believe a completely absurd thing if you give it some percentage.

They did a survey of republicans asking them if they supported the bombing of a Agrabah, and they got a 30% number.
The only problem is Agrabah is the fictional country in Aladdin...

Fuck. Jesus Christ.

Come on OP, that's not real, portugal has the lowest literacy rate in the civilized world, and even they're sitting pretty around 95% or so

It keeps raising every year because old people die.

._. Kinda feel bad for them.

Yeah those cunts deserve to die I don't care if it's fictional

We have a culture of not giving a shit in school, especially public school. Combine that with their druggo parents giving just as little a shit about their child's education and yes, I can imagine the literacy rates in poor areas would be low.
