What's the best pop punk album?

What's the best pop punk album?

There is no such thing as good pop punk.

milo goes to college

Exactly. This is a trick question.

Would you consider the Buzzcocks pop-punk? If so, one of their albums probably.

Jawbreaker - 24 Hour Revenge Therapy
The Lillingtons - Death By Television
Green Day - Kerplunk
Descendents - Milo Goes to College
Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady

*blocks your path*

Descendents- Milo Goes To College
Dillinger Four- Versus God

Add Screeching Weasel and yeah

Theres no afi rabbit in that pic

I guess its settled theyre a hardcore band

Rise against aren't pop punk except a few songs

That's emo, user.

melodic hardcore

...

...

Pop Punk in itself in its own terms is pure shit.

Enema of the State and Blink's other stuff is good as suburbancore / 'happy hardcore'... despite itself.

Can't think of anything else in pop punk I like though. Hate Green Day, Lagwagon, Nofx, Pennywise, Rancid, Guttermouth, etc.

I guess I can kiiiiind of tolerate Descendants.

No, that's not Emo, it's pop punk and it isn't good

1: It's Alternative Rock, Emo and Pop Punk.
2: It's one of the most consistent Pop Punk albums of its era, and Okay I Believe You is perfect in both emotional delivery and lyricism.
3: It's an 8/10 at least.

descendents
rosenstock
blink 182

There's a bit of po punk influence on some songs and they are part of the pop punk scene for sure but that doesn't make them a pop punk band. Much more alt rock and emo than pop punk.

Jeff Rosenstock

Brand New isn't entirely a Pop Punk band, but their first two albums were definitely Pop Punk, while the rest is Alternative Rock, Emo and Indie Rock. The OP asked for the best Pop Punk albums, not artists.

this post is scripture

>The Clash

Jawbreaker - 24 Hour Revenge Therapy
The Thermals - The Body, the Blood, the Machine
Leatherface - Mush
PUP - The Dream Is Over
The Menzingers - On the Impossible Past
Shelter - Mantra
Beach Slang - The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us
The Ergs! - Dorkrockcorkrod

I would include 7 Seconds, but I'm not sure if they're too hardcore to be "pop punk"

>PUP - The Dream Is Over
>The Menzingers - On the Impossible Past
These for sure, except After The Party is better than On the Impossible Past.

Why is Blink so worshipped in the pop punk scene? I listen to a lot of pop punk but I can't fucking stand those guys.

>The Menzingers - On the Impossible Past
Man, I forgot about these guys.

Also, does The Offspring - Smash count?

pic related for me

It's because every pop punk band of the 2010s, as well as most of the post-hardcore bands, grew up on blink-182. Most of them probably grew out of it as well, but that doesn't change the fact that blink-182 probably remain a significant part of their musical consciousness/DNA.

I'm 28, and blink-182 was my favorite band in middle school (ages 11-13). Now they sound like glossy pop to me, but that doesn't change the fact that they were a pivotal, formative band for me.

They were always just a worse Lagwagon with obnoxious vocals though, I don't understand the appeal.

Objectively

Try again.

this thread just confirms pop punk is a garbage genre.

...

Find a flaw.

Thread shot not have proceeded past this post.

I hate pop punk as a rule but really like Blink 182.

Their music just really epitomizes the bittersweet feeling of late era suburbs in Southern California, while sounding aptly McDonalds-y enough to really capture the place and time.

This, Kerplunk! is also an acceptable answer.

This is the official approved emo list

Damn, I was looking for the name breakwater for a week. Thx

Ocean Avenue or Lights and Sounds.

first 4 albums

assuming we are talking pop punk in a narrow sense (post-Bad Religion), my favorite albums have got to be Dude Ranch by blink-182 and Smash by The Offspring.

props for the Lillingtons

definitely not primarily a pop punk record. shit sux, too.

i so don't get The Ergs! appeal
