So second wave black metal has started to click for me, and I've listened to a fair amount of the essentials and was wondering, where should I go from here?
I've heard:
First 5 Darkthrone albums Mayhem - Live in Leipzig & De Mysteriis First 3 Emperor albums First 4 Burzum albums
I mean they're considered to be essential from what I've heard for the most part, but I'm trying to expand hence this thread. I do moreso enjoy the Mayhem/ Darkthrone sound though
What's wrong with burzum and why the fuck would you listen to anything Mayhem did outside of de mysteriis
Jayden Long
Gorgoroth
Alexander Hill
dumb frogposter
burzum is for nu-males
Asher Fisher
>why the fuck would you listen to anything Mayhem did outside of de mysteriis Horrible taste, Chimera is arguably Mayhem's best studio album.
Juan Carter
"i am so much of a nazi that i refuse to touch guitars anymore because black people played them in the 50s" is literally a base element of his milquetoast dark ambient
I would argue that only Taake, Emperor and Dissection matter on this list though.
Henry Lewis
Start branching out into regional scenes or specific subgenres. Les Legions Noires, Greek bands, Finnish, etc are all pretty big. Or just check out some of these lists, I think they're all great for finding new stuff.
So what if he chose to play instruments closer to his traditional culture because of political views? That doesn't mean the first few Burzum albums aren't masterpieces, nu-male.
