Horrible taste, Chimera is arguably Mayhem's best studio album.

this is a great and important post.
I would argue that only Taake, Emperor and Dissection matter on this list though.
Start branching out into regional scenes or specific subgenres. Les Legions Noires, Greek bands, Finnish, etc are all pretty big. Or just check out some of these lists, I think they're all great for finding new stuff.
