Trying to work on mixing. I fell in love with the technical side, and I believe in trying to get songs to their full potential.
Going to force a short snippet at least every 3 days to check progress by the end of the months.
If anyone is willing, I need songs to work with. Love or hate the result, it's constructive criticism for me, and you might end up with something you like for free.

REC:
Looking for hard criticisms lads.
I've re-recorded both songs after getting some great advice from Ghostball. Tried to let loose more and have fun.
Left feedback before, rec hard
funky indie shit I dig, clean sounding as fuck. Vocals a little quiet?
Could be in an ipod advert circa 2006
i liked dr2am aga!n the most blade runner synths with zelda samples is a really good mix. Loved the overall atmosphere of the project
I'm sure you've had people saying it's sigur.
I really liked the icy atmosphere you've made
cover art made me lol, voice sounds a little weak and is over shadowed immensely by the blasting guitar. liked the toned of you voice though and the rambling riff towards the end
"lo fi anime hip hop beats to relax/study to" springs to mind but i really fucking dig it so far, currently on the 5th song.
lo-fi mfdoom beats to study to
nice, i appreciate the honesty and the thoroughness in listening to the tracks
your criticisms are one of the best in these kinds of threads, i don't know if that says more about you or the threads
bit of both i'd imagine. seems like the threads used to be a bit more contructive but maybe not acually. there should be a way to incentivize criticism
Next time I post i'm gonna link like 2 tracks with descriptions. I wanna give everyone criticism and having a few tracks to look at specifically would speed that up.

Thanks, if people are gonna take the time to listen to me, the very least i can do is reciprocate.
Plus listening to all this good shit that is lightyears ahead of my music is really spurring me on to be better.
listening your wip, reminds me of something from soused by scott walker/ sunn o. the levels seem to be really good, i liked how you opened hard to throw the listener off and then drift into disturbing choral to keep them on edge.
liked praalwagen and oeoeoe, the second making me unsure just how deep the irony was on this supermeat boy/ kraftwerk banger.
People Controller reminded me when i dropped some pcp a really intense fever dream. Definitely like where you're going with your music.
think i left feedback before, feedback loop was fun
liked road trip past the moon, think the vocal could be louder as i had to crank up the volume to hear and felt it ruined the chilled vibe. loved the guitar riff.
yuka peno was to me what mgmt have been trying to create ever since their second album when they went contrarian. really liking you stuff, definitely could be on spotify and see you playing at indie fests.
am
heard this last time and loved it but forgot to follow. how do you keep your vocals so clear? could go full on with some autotune and i believe you could honestly have this unironically played at the club reccing hard.
loved the moody beat of slippng, would love to rap over it.
also really liked jst off urslf, but the first 20 seconds were quite offputting and i could find myself skipping over it when listening to a random mix of songs at the gym.
please be careful goes hard as fuck is all i have to say
like your album artwork, contrasted a lot with what i was expecting your music to be. not sure if i'd listen to your music by itself but i could see it being put as soundtrack music or used for samples/ videogames. there's just enough there to keep me listening but you create a really strong atmosphere with the tracks i checked out.
quite similar to bundle of sticks above in the sense you've created a strong atmosphere. i wondered where it was going and then was pleasantly surprised when it kicked in, in the second half of the track
recc happynbright165, reminded me a lot of lost Prophets first album and that era of hip hop laced metal/ hard rock. just wish it was longer.
cinematic stuff lived up to it's name. standing on cliffs staring off into the distance, and then the beat kicked in the last few seconds like a video game boss was starting and i laughed out loud.
super chilled, similar to a few tracks from artists above. don;'t have too many thoughts other than it's good shit and would liked to hear more
am
okay i dont have time rn, but i'l listen to your shit by the end of the day and get back to you. if thread is archived, i'll message you on soundcloud

fuck yea, the beat seems to go in a few place so would be quite a challenge to rap on, but i could think of a verse or two to do for it.
you want a download link or something?
maybe message me on SC
that would be dope as fuck man
also, thanks for the feedback

recs:
Thank you so much for your support. I record in a professional studio and I have an engineer who does generalized EQing, compression, and leveling to give me good dry vocals. I then group every vocal to one big bus and just compress it to high hell since my engineer typically mixes a bit too quiet. Afterwards I do wet-mixing: I add autotune, reverb, delay, among other things. Once my vocals sound good enough to me, I start mixing the elements of my instrumental- I make EQ cuts in my vocals to make way for the drums. I also EQ my melodic elements in the same frequencies. Mid-side processing is very important here. I cut the center on everything that isn’t a vocal, drum, or bass and Pan it mid-left or mid-right. I also filter the shit out of the synths too- I cut below 200 hz and above 5Khz. All of this combined makes my vocals and drums sit super well

Really nice production, I love this beat.
That bass is like... weird, but like really really good weird, it's hard, I like it.
For a bedroom recording this is fucking amazing. Fuck yeah.
The swamp ain't drained indeed. Instrumentation is really good. It's like Ska Rock.
This has some really nice beats, idk what I think of the rapping but his beats go hard.
Such nice Lo-FI
That flow caught me off guard. Nice production.

Beat by Augustus the Great.

Not a bad start. I like the bass rhythm, but I do think it is taking up a lot of the space in the track. Turn it down and maybe bringing a mid-high range synth melody over the top would help a lot.
Love some of those dark, low sounds you use. I like Omens the best for the really strong groove. Would be great for a rapper.
Pretty clean. I love the beat. Could have used more interesting flows at certain points for the first rapper. The second guy has great energy.
Love the beat and bounce of both the verses. You two work well together.
Thanks also I made that simple beat but the bass is my favorite part
