That album was pretty much only Dave, with guest musicians on a couple tracks. Then he brought in former members of Sunny Day Real Estate and shit went downhill, which I don't understand because SDRE is such a good band.

I guess the quality of music a band produces is dependent on the frontman. SDRE was Jeremy Enigk's project, and once Dave Grohl got his Cobain loss emotions out, he decided to ride the wave of success with the Foo Fighters by playing generic hard rock music.
