English is international mean of communication (proof - Sup Forums), so no wonder Britamerican bands tours round the world.
Russian music is rarely original then it comes to the sound of it. It started in USSR, when you could easily "plagiarize" western music without anybody knowing due to iron curtain. Even if somebody did something original, it most likely sounded meh.
Russian music really is tied to it's lyrics. I'd say on average Russian songs far exceed the counterpart. But once again, you have to understand language to get into it.
