Japanese cyberpunk is just brutalism squared. Ugly intense shit for the sake of it.

Try-hard edgy cringe garbage

Absolute worst shit I've seen. Nothing but a bunch of disturbing images edited together in a vomit inducing way. Can hardly be called a movie.

Someone called me a pleb a few weeks ago when I said this was shit. He said I didn't get it. LMAO

Aids

It's a loose and basic narrative to allow for the brutalist imagery in the film, not that there's anything wrong with that.

The plot you can read on net. Other than that there is not much to explain.
Either you are the type of person who just wants generic derivative escapism in movies or you seek adventure. You enjoy originality and brazen deviations from the trodden path. In the latter case TETSUO will be perfect for you. In the former case just watch starshit or capeshit or some other bland piece of culture industry.

>explain bizarre Jap shit
lol okay buddy

yes

...

mushi mushi?

Basically an intense and hypnotic visual experience, nothing else to it.
The plot is simple but there doesnt need to be anything more to make it work.

so fucking annoying

THIS DRILL DICK WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS!

Cyberpunk, the merging of machinery and humanity, the inauthentic existence of late XX cetury Japan brought to its logical nihilist end at escape velocity, the brutality of empty relationships and the way we costantly hurt each other - there's also the voyeuristic aspect of the Metal Fetishist being able to look at and interact with the Sarariman, but that's played up more in Tsukamoto's later movies. Great fucking cinematography, if you didn't get an hard on for the practical effects (the final chase, the movement of cables and wires) I don't really think you can appreciate cinema as something beyond the spectacle.

All that said, I think Electric Dragon 80.000v is the better and more enjoyable movie.

I also recommend everyone in this thread watch Evil Dead Trap, it's a 1988 "giallo" gore movie inspired by Argento and the grotesque hyperviolence of '80s Japanese cinema. Good shit.

>Evil Dead Trap
there's two sequels, are they worth watching?

I've been told that the second one is the best out of them all, but I've yet to watch it. Thought it wasn't available anywhere, turns out it was put on YouTube
