It is beautiful. But in his ambition to stand out, he ruined this film. He overdid the long-scenes-trope. His pacing was much better in Turin Horse or Werckmeister. I don't mind endurance tests, but it needs to make sense.

I don't know. I watched all of these, and I didn't like Werckmeister Harmonies. Somehow it felt boring even though it's much shorter than Sátántangó. Same with The Turin Horse. The movie is 3 hours long, and all they do is change clothes and eat potatoes. At the same time 7 hours long Sátántangó is actually, believe it or not, action packed, in a sense. It has a plot and multiple storylines, it's not just nothingness for 7 hours. I've seen much more boring movies that were just over an hour long.

Tarr is an amazing director. I loved Werckmeister Harmonies, i liked Satantango but i the style of extreme realism was endurance test in this one. The Turin Horse and Werckmeister Harmonies were shot great as Satantango but the length of Satantango is obstacle for me in fully appreciating it as The Turin Horse and Werckmeister Harmonies which felt really short. I had to divide Satantango in 3 parts to get through it but still a very good film.

Hard to say way, but it felt super intense to me. A bit like the cat killing scene in Satantango.
The hopelessness and desolation in Turin Horse were so tangible, I felt awe.
