OP here, we did have a European league at one point with the London Monarchs, Scottish Claymores etc.. but the fascination died of death after a few years. Nobody was really interested that much in the sport that future players were not easily being found to keep it going.

Also they never allow top stars to perform in basketball, baseball etc in world championships because if they field a team with all top 10 stars in basketball for example and are beaten that breaks the fantasy of being the best.
