Ulsterfag here. Hunger is pretty good. A rather experimental and quiet film about Bobby Sands. Doesn't get caught up so much in the politics and is more so about the experience of the hunger strikers starvation. Steve McQueen's a pretty GOAT director imo.
That being said it's still another movie about the troubles. Honestly really wish that there was more variation in the subject matter of Irish films but I get that the troubles were obviously a very defining part of Ireland's history.
