It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.
Last one died while I was about half way through wtf

Stopped reading there!
I blame moot for not implementing an archive on all boards.
This was the defining moment in the anime. I had never read a manga and this was what did it. After the ending of the anime I had to read more.
End of Chapter 73
Onto Chapter 74
The Eclipse is pretty unrivaled in terms of massive shifts in a series. It's the kind of thing where you just know you have to find out what happens next, and how the world will be changed.
End of Chapter 74 and end of dump for tonight
In this moment do you think Griffith is in regret. I never understood his emotions prior. He obviously knew this was going to happen from the beginning.
That's a difficult question.
I think deep down he doesn't regret it, because it's his dream. I think all his life he was willing to sacrifice anything for his dream. On the surface, though, he probably never expected it to actually happen. I'm not sure if he took the Behelit seriously, and maybe he kept it more as a reminder of his dream than anything. Perhaps is expression here is shock and "this is it, it's finally happening." Possibel regret on the surface level, but if he thought about it, he'd realize that he didn't actually regret his actions since he was commited (deep down) from the start to sacrifice anything necessary for his dream.
bump for yet another day without a chapter update
the only thing he loved was Guts, he was the only thing he wanted to control, his only true agent.
When he left he was shattered, with Guts he would've conquered the world regardless of the behelit. Him falling into hell is a direct depiction of his sadness.
Maybe tomorrow!
