But don't you want to keep it relativel intact? If you kill it with a stone then it's mushed and crushed, which I'd assume makes cooking and eating it either harder or less nice.

Daniel Watson

I don't know mang, our version of saying is about shooting hares, so it makes sense. Ask the dudes from relevant countries. Maybe they hunted with a fucking sling in some ancient times? Who knows.

Joseph Wilson

The "stone" in this sense isn't a stone exactly, it comes from the old French "Stoen" which was a name for an arrow

Jakubmarian is really fucking dumb for a czech with language so similar to polish. Half of his maps relating to languages are wrong or extremely imprecise.

The idiomatic phrase in polish doesnt say "pieces of meat" but rather "roast" aka entire animal roasting over the fire.

That's a memeful translation. The actual phrase says means something similar to "to bake two bakery products at the same time" which is still retarded, though. (I am not a polish expert, we need to summon an actual poolander)

Samuel Walker
Samuel Walker

upiec dwie pieczenie na jednym ogniu
If I read it like Russian "выпeчь двa пeчeнья нa oднoм oгнe" it says "to bake two cookies on the same fire"

Leo Johnson
Leo Johnson

to bake two bakery products at the same time
But you usually bake two or more in an oven. These sayings are all old from these times. WTF.

It is supposed to mean that you managed to do something incredible a.k.a. do two things simultaneously and successfully finish them.

It is supposed to mean that you managed to do something incredible
Says who?

A perfectly adequate example:
Cycling to work kills two birds with one stone. It saves money on car or public transport expenses and will help you get fit
There's nothing impossible or incredible about cycling to work.
It solves two problems at once (cost and exercise) which is what matters.
