>inb4 tired potty mouth Spider-Man swears because of broken door memes

This scene is an exemplary instance of Raimi executing a directorial VISION. You look at every capeshit release since the advent of the Cinematic Universe, interchangeable, uniform, production line assembly. They are more like episodes of a television show, anything even close to this level of experimentation wouldn't leave the fucking writing room.

And yet it conveys an individualist spirit, it makes the character that Maguire portrays even more empathetic, the montage has a comedic bent, not based on the overly laboured and Whedonist "quips" that have been rigorously formulated. But instead on the basis of what the character is thinking and feeling. It truly was a different time.

Agreed. Don't even like that many capeshits desu. This and the first movie have so much more quality to them. It's hard to believe this much effort went into a superhero movie. There's a lot of drama, romance, very unique/likeable cast on top of all the usual superhero tropes. I never thought I'd get emotional over something so superficial.

By the the time the third movie came out, the profit driven studios wanted more and more squeezed into movies because they believe that's what audiences want. 50 superheroes all in the same movie and continuous action. I can't even stand The Amazing Spider-Man series but it's not as bad as most capeshits of the 2010s.

Fucking this. The way Rami mixes humor and drama in this film is exceptional, making the protagonist's situation all the more relatable. The humor isn't a distraction from the drama -- IT IS the drama.

And how alive does New York feel in this movie? I have never seen a mainstream movie that captures the awkward eccentricities of your modern day city so well.

Premium Rush is my favorite "New York City" movie. Spiderman is a close second though.

What an exquisite centerpiece.

I call it "Shill Replies to Self."

uh huh

This. The emotions felt by Peter in this scene aren't contrived or forced to fit the filmed scenes. They are completely natural, which helps the audience relate themselves to the character, from the everyday quirks he faces.

IMO the dance scene in Spider-Man 3 did the same thing, but people took it all too seriously. I thought Dark Peter was hilarious.

>"Rosemary? Ha ha, yeah, great actress, very great, I was always a huge fan. We had a little thing while filming the 2nd movie, you know. There wqs a lot of sexual tension during the first movie and by the time the second rolled around it just erupted. Not anything serious...we just fucked a lot, lots of roleplay stuff mainly. I used to wear the Spider-man costume and have 'Aunt May' spank her favorite nephew for being nasty ol' spiderman. Of course, due to the complexity of the suit it took two PAs to get me into it. I used to make them stay and watch us fuck, it was part of the thrill."
>-Tobey MacGuire, Vanity Faire interview 2008

I never knew anyone who took that scene seriously, until a certain website gained prominence.

I personally love the scene, It show's the goofy/fun side of the character without having to result to "quips" or the constant joking that modern films have.

You know a good capeshit when the first few seconds of the start give you goosebumps. It's a shame all the good composers have exhausted their talents/died/retired. The rest are Zimmer school hacks.

>fucking fleeing away from him
That was such a funny contrast to the music playing in the scene

This is an excellent point. You look at the humor of modern Marvel films, they are continually laced in irony and subversion of the medium. When they make a quip it is an interruption, it is deliberately making you removed from the drama of the film so that the writer can worship their own epic narcissistic "deconstruction". there is nothing is specific to the character or what they represent, it's all the modicum of comic reading Jews who think they're above the medium they write for. There is no sincerity to any of them. I'm not claiming that the orignal two Spider-Man's were masterpieces, but they fucking knew that the humor came out of the fact that Peter is an incredibly fallible and relatable character that had problems of identity, relationships and responsibility. It had nothing to do with subversion of comic-book tropes or trying to be aware of its own silliness, because otherwise what's the fucking point? What are you trying to say?

If you notice in newer films, there are little to no background characters. When they are present, they don't react to protagonists action. Almost as if the protagonists actions don't matter at all in the wide scheme of things

I agree. The joking destroys any atmosphere or tension that the characters are placed in. It seems that some people have forgotten that silence is golden.

very poor soundtrack in the ''''Amazing'''' Spiderman.

I didn't like it either. No standout themes. This is coming from James Horner who composed some great scores in the 80s and 90s.

I think what made Raimi Spiderman so relatable was the fact that it was so rooted in the Silver Age of comics and didn't shy away from it. It's corny, it's goofy, none of the dialogue is anything anybody would say ever...but it works. It works because Raimi knew it was a comic book, so he made a comic book.

Then look at the Marvel films. The cast constantly quips with each other, like they're embarassed to be there...It's like they want to tell the audience "we know this is stupid, and you guys know it too, right?"

I'll give credit where credit is due: Chris Evans genuinely seems to enjoy being Captain America, which might have something to do why Cap's movies are the better of the Marvel films. Hugh Jackman also enjoyed being Wolverine, and it showed: He took the films seriously.

But you can see, particularly in Scarlett Johannson, RDJ, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany's performances, that the others just do not give a shit.

>when he races away from Columbia he is supposed to be headed downtown yet he is clearly headed to Tiemann which is uptown of a Columbia
Ruined the movie desu
>how is that appropriate?

Oh shit what's up James I'm a big fan

I'm dead senpai.

Hi

>an hour too long
>two face was superfluous
>joker was anti climactic (granted more due to heat legends death than anything else.)

It was a good film but by and by was not superior to spiderman 1 or 2

"No!"
Nolan retconned the entire Joker story by giving him a real name, and it was kind of a stupid name too (Izzy)

For you

Good movie but severely overrated

no

The characters didn't feel branched out enough, they were kinda interesting, but you hardly understood them well.

Hello beautiful

Jesus, what a twisted mind this guy had. Truly 100% crazy.

In order:

TDK
Spiderman 1
Unbreakable
Batman Begins
Spiderman 2

>reddit

fuck off marvel children

Spiderman 2 is overrated. It's in no way better than the first and no where near as entertaining as 3

>Logan
>capekino

I don't think I could count Logan as a comic book movie. If you took out all the superpowers, you'd still have essentially the same film.

In no way is that a complaint, it's easily my favorite film of 2017.

...

List of capekino:

1. Spider-man
2. Iron Man
3. Spider-man 2
4. Batman Begins

That's it. Fuck everything else

No homo, but , not bad at all.

Seriously samefag. It's embarrassing.

I used to fantasize about waking up in a new body and casting away my glasses like Peter.

was Toby natty? are mutant spiders natty?

After he leaves Columbia he heads down Broadway though, he loses Michael Shannon under the elevated subway platform around 125th there.

>was Toby natty?
You could attain a body like that using only bodyweight exercises natty

>granted more due to heat legends death than anything else
He was done filming his scenes dummy, he had even begun filming a new one

It's a body double

[spoilers]RRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE[/spoilers]

>something like this will never happen today

youtube.com/watch?v=yRhRZB-nqOU

Davey?

god tier capeshit

The fact he was unmasked added so much extra drama to this scene and the end where he is lifted up by everyone is actually quite beautiful.

>unbreakable

How embarassing.
Did you seriously make this thread for the sole purpose of posting your autismal essay or was it a lucky accident ?

>The Dark Knight
>Watchmen
>Days of Future Past

that movie is surreal

youtube.com/watch?v=qtx18tPNda4

Don't summon the fucking jammies.

Defendor
The Shadow
Black Mask
Blade

Top 10 superhero movies, in no particular order:
Avengers
Burton Batman
Batman Begins
TDK
Iron Man
Logan
Spider-Man 2
Superman
Winter Soldier
X2

Spectacular Spiderman did Spiderman way better than any of the movies and its a fucking kids cartoon.

>people suddenly ignoring X2

Oh but it did. Except now it's all a cartoon, probably his own fuck-up and it's gonna end on a quip to reassure the audience that the bad stuff is over.

I absolutely adore Raimi's Spiderman films but come on the real competition is between this: youtube.com/watch?v=-waJsBs0eBQ and Watchmen

and the masterpiece Man of Steel
