At least I am not the only one who considers this Lynch's weakest film. Not only that but as a film itself, this wasn't that good at all.

First hour is okay but then the pace of the movie goes to shit

Not only that but the cinematography, direction and visuals could have been so much better.

If only Jodorowsky made his Dune then that would have been WAY more impressive than this where it felt like Lynch wasn't even trying.

I doubt Lynch was a fan of Dune anyway because you can tell he didn't really care with making this while he puts so much more dedication into his other movies.

pretty much everyone consider's it Lynch's worst film

even Lynch himself

>What the fuck was Lynch thinking...?
He probably thought since everyone is creaming over Star Wars and no normies know about Dune, he didn't bother to actually make this look realistic or that good

>one of the worst sci fi movies ever has one of the best sci fi soundtracks ever
Ironic
youtube.com/watch?v=NMnM1Qww2xs

>implying lynch has talent

Why does everyone jerk off to the idea of Jodorowsky doing Dune?

youtube.com/watch?v=m4SwFhfNh1w

>he hasn't watched the Jodorowsky's Dune documentary
watch that first faggot then come back here before you continue to talk about Dune

It was really good.

I still enjoy this movie, though I am aware of its shortcomings

>H.R. Giger was originally going to do the Sandworm designs
No wonder they resemble a certain part of a man's body

...

>tfw no H.R. Giger Baron Palace with sharp blades leading up to the doorway that is a giant head of the Baron as the palace is his fat body
WHY COULDN'T JODOROWSKY GET FUNDING TO MAKE THIS MOVIE!!

Anyone in Hollywood reading the storyboards would have easily gone "THIS NEEDS TO BE MADE NO MATTER THE COST IT IS AN ART MASTERPIECE"

It was going to be bad
Not as bad as Lynch though

>a 10 hour artistic film
Not to be memeing but that would have been the literal definition of PURE KINO

Weirding modules was the stupidest possible reduction of the Weirding way. Can't wait for Villeneuve Dune.

Just watch the syfy miniseries. It's actually really fucking good, as is Children of Dune.
>Tfw James McAvoy will never reprise his role as Leto II in a God Emperor series

Lynch himself hated it and tried distancing himself from it as much as he could, so no.

i hope when i gonna die i will be able to watch jodorowsky dune on the other universe or some shit

im pretty hype for Villeneuve, despite Sup Forums becoming contrarians and shitting on him just because he became famous, he still hasnt disappointed me with a movie of his, but i really have a feeling that it will be another case of the studio fucking up the movie.

i really cant see Dune working as anything but Game of Thrones type of high-budget TV series or AT LEAST a LOTR extended trilogy style for 12-13 hours and i doubt the studio will allow him to do that

>Tfw James McAvoy will never reprise his role as Leto II in a God Emperor series
FUG I wish the new Dune movie was God Emperor of Dune with some flashbacks to the first 3 books.

That would have been better than trying to remake the first novel in a 2 hour movie.

I wish Sting got more movie roles in his prime.

>i hope when i gonna die i will be able to watch jodorowsky dune on the other universe or some shit
only if you pray to Lucifer and study certain occult spells of secret knowledge to get your soul to transform into one of the alternate dimensions.

Good luck with this

Honestly, at this point I don't want a God Emperor movie.

If David fucking Lynch couldn't catch the dark, psychedelic aspects of Dune then nobody can, and God Emperor takes it to the 10th degree.

I liked the piss suits, sandworm riding and sting :(

user, if your dong looks like THAT, then you should go see a doctor.

>If David fucking Lynch couldn't catch the dark, psychedelic aspects of Dune
This scene was pretty dark

>heart plug removed with blood gushing
was pretty brutal

I doubt we will see that scene in the new movie which will be PG 13 less violent I guess

Is there like a definitive version, a ten hour long fan edit, that's actually good?

As a straight man, Sting was fuckin hot in this

The problem with filming Dune is that most of the "action" in the novel happens inside people's heads. You can write what people are thinking easily enough, but you can't film what people are thinking in a way that doesn't look retarded / messy.

why did both Jodo and Lynch thoguht its gonna be a good idea to make Harkonnen fly

it was fucking retarded

>a ten hour long fan edit
watch the movie at 50% slow speed

The extended cut of the Lynch movie is actually pretty coherent.

He has the body of a 15 year old boy, you may not want to admit what you just posted to anyone else.

THE TOOTH THE TOOTH THE TOOTH THE TOOTH

Rumor has it that there is a 4 hour cut of the movie as someone said they watched this on vhs yet the producers said there was never any 4 hour cut released so who knows

He literally has gravitational suspensories in the book

>He has the body of a 15 year old boy
what the fuck are you on about?

>If only Jodorowsky made his Dune then that would have been WAY more impressive than this where it felt like Lynch wasn't even trying.
This is such a reddit meme.
It would have been like holy mountain or el topo.
Just watch those if you want borderline unwatchable lsd flicks

Because none of those redditors ever watched one of his movies.

>not this version

youtube.com/watch?v=UWFm2LIYNjg

...

yeah, but i thought they were more like prosthesis that make him walk easier, not float like a fucking cartoon

You're grossing me out with your pedo shit is what I'm on about user

>What the fuck was Lynch thinking...?
Money. That's literally it. He had just got famous through Eraserhead and Elephant Man, so he thought he'd cash in on it. He admits to it and regrets it now.

The giger illustrations are on the books too. That thing with the body isnt baron harkonnen but the transformed into god hood paul.

Me too Jod
Me too

Just watch holy mountain and realize how shit it would have been.

BUT
WITH
LOVE

Finally someone posted it

>Villeneuve Dune

is this the thing that was hyped in like 2012 and had been dropped in 2014 or is this something different?

it was literally confirmed this year

Jodorowsky's Dune is one of those dreamteam projects where the only real problem was that the thing couldn't actually be made. It's like project Orion spaceships that used actual nuclear bombs to accelerate and would have been able to crew thousands of people. No way would hese things actually have been made to completion, but the fact that people did actually plan on making them is just mindboggling.

oh I'm thinking of that Pierre Morel/Peter Berg thing

I'd bet this never comes to fruition

>Peter Berg Dune

imagine the horror

yea maybe for once he will make a good movie

HE SAVES MORE THAN HE RAPES

jej

Villeneuve is making his science fiction trilogy user. Arrival, Blade Runner 2 and then Dune. If BR2 ends up being good and makes money, Dune is gonna be made and he'll probably have full creative control because of all the good boy points he's earned with the studio.

I hope everything from Lynch's Dune is ignored. The miniseries was way better than that shit.

why wouldnt it be, its a book adaptation, Lynch's Dune is not the original source

>it rains
>on fucking Arrakis
>RAIN

thats why i said its gonna be abook adaptation and there is literally no reason to think that anyone will take Lynch's Dune in consideration

Unlikely but the first article that came up
variety.com/2017/film/news/dune-reboot-writer-eric-roth-denis-villeneuve-1201998001/

Uses the term "reboot" rather adaption and writes about Lynch's film. Which could of course just be the writer's own lack of understanding.

im a fucking retard, i meant to say why WOULD it be*

Dune kind of proves that Lynch isn't really a good filmmaker. He knows how to do one thing, though he does it very well, which is make visually bizarre films that appear to be filled to the brim with metaphors and symbolism but aren't actually saying much at all, and when they do have something to say, it is very shallow surface-level stuff because that's as far as people are able to get with their interpretations, which according to Lynch himself are all wrong and irrelevant. What normies need to realize is that he mostly shoots things without knowing fully well what it is he is trying to say either. He is very """""spiritual"""" in that way.

>What normies need to realize is that he mostly shoots things without knowing fully well what it is he is trying to say either.

He's the epitome of post-modernism. Twin Peaks was good despite David Lynch being involved, not because of; Blue Velvet is a bad movie.
>plebs will HATE this one weird post

I haven't seen a movie of his I didn't like. Though to be fair, for Dune I saw a cut with the Irulan introduction, alot of deleted scenes added in and the Rain end substituted out with the one where Paul forces the emperor to abdicate and to give Irulan as his wife and then right after he promises Chani that Irulan would only be his wife in name.
