I don't understand why this board hates Dick and Mortimer so much.
>its nihilism is literally the philosophy of 2007 Sup Forums, back when it wasn't 99% porn dump threads and things were done 4tehlulz™
>Every episode feels like a climax, the kind of writing which you would in other shows only expect at the end of a season
>explores neat philosophical ideas without care for any pretentious moral lesson or deeper meaning
I really don't get that passionate hatred for it. Is it because of some political message people didn't like? Seriously. I mean yes, leddit likes it but come on, could it be that they like it because it's genuinely good?
But yeah, I guess fuck me for genuinely liking something in 2017 without hiding behind ten thousand layers of irony.
It's just not that good. It's always a bit hard to explain that when it comes to a comedy but eother the humor lands or it doesn't and very often it doesn't when it comes to Rick and Morty. It has its moment but mostly it's sub-Futurama Science Fiction parody, sub-South Park shock humor and not much else.
And I mean, that would still be fine in that "mediocre but watchable" way but then it tries to make us care about these characters and play them for drama once in a while when it makes a point of all of them either being dumb, assholes, or dumb assholes.
Take Rick. He's meant to be that super smart genius who's just kinda stopped caring and devoting his life to shallow hedonism. Which could be interesting and funny but they write him as an obnoxious overgrown fratboy who's by no means a good enough character to carry a show.

>>its nihilism is literally the philosophy of 2007 Sup Forums this isnt Sup Forums though

>>its nihilism is literally the philosophy of 2007 Sup Forums oh shit I forgot about the great philosophers of Sup Forums shit your right reddit and Morty is actually great!!!?
Adrian Lee
The more I see of this faggots face the more I despise him and the show.
This guy is like the new Minions.
Brayden Bell
Sup Forums was never good neither was this show
Ethan Jenkins
Because We Republicanz Now Most of the people crying about it here clearly have not watched it. Rick said god doesn't real once and it hurt their feelings because they are delicate little snowflakes.
Ryan Baker
Le reddit boogeyman. Only complete retards desperatly trying to fit in hate it, anyone with half a brain either enjoys it or doesn't care about it
Lucas Murphy
A lot of people here don't like it almost entirely because it's got a late fanbase on Reddit. At the end of the day, it's a good cartoon. It's not groundbreaking, super intellectual comedy like some make it out to be, but it's a good cartoon that as you say explores some fun little scientific and philosophical ideas. It's no worse than other shows people here claim to love in the departments it's so often criticised. It's accessible to a large audience and a lot of ay audience is on Reddit, so its shit

>2007 Sup Forums
reddit incarnate
Jayden Roberts
Sup Forums loved this show until reddit latched onto it, that's the reality.
Oliver Sanchez
Nihilism is basically normie meme status at this point.
Also mind pointing out these 'neat philisophical ideas' because i'm pretty sure you're just going to go back to (like everyone who raves about this show) that one fucking episode where they jump universes and assume the roles of their dead counterparts like it's so fucking deep.
Moral Orel explored ideas. Rick and Morty dips its toe in ideas and people suck its dick for it.
Charles Rogers
The philosophical ideas are explored at an extremely superficial level. It feels thrown on and not genuine. They could just have dropped most of it. Nor is the nihilism genuine or challenging, it's just reddit nihilism, which just means "fuck god and authority", ie a reframing of basic progressive views in a format more appealing to slightly edgy teens.

>I dont understand why this board hates Rick and Morty
The last season was literally made for 10 year olds. It was embarrassing to watch.
and season 1 was hit and miss. That's probably why.
Jace Young
it's shit
Nathan Evans
Also i'll say this, i really do enjoy the show, but i find all the attempts at drama pointlessly maudlin and shallow as fuck, usually it's like like a 20 second scene with sad music like WOOOW DOOD SO DEEEEP.
Maybe harmon will get his way and next season will focus on his self serving depressing bullshit and give it some actual depth, but i doubt it.
Nolan Taylor
Are there any cartoons that trigger this level of crybaby from progressives? At this point the alt right are 10x worse than SJW ever were. Endless streams of rageful tears. It's a dumb cartoon, who cares, get over it.
Carson Hughes
One of the creators or whatever was on the H3H3 podcast and he said that he would shill his show on this board all the time. Are you him?
Remember everybody if you see a rick and morty thread its probably the voice actor shilling his show.
Nathan Baker
if you think it's actually a nihilist show it went over your head. it's a christian show that makes fun of the bullshit nihilism crap. and yes it's pretty good
David Gray
>all of Sup Forums is Sup Forums >therefore you should like my favorite show because it fits with a certain idea I have constructed in my head to rationalize why I enjoy watching bullshit cartoons
Blake Diaz
Gonna need myself a source here friend.
Hunter Allen
OP here, so what would then be a good show that's like Rick and Morty but good?
Gavin Cruz
I don't mind rack and mormer, season 1 was good but it got kinda stale.
My problem is the same problem with any cartoon. The fanbase. They all think it's god's gift to man and will never admit it has any problem.
Julian Gonzalez
>>its nihilism is literally the philosophy of 2007 Sup Forums, back when it wasn't 99% porn dump threads and things were done 4tehlulz™ Yeah, exactly. It's reddit.
