I really enjoyed this movie

I really enjoyed this movie.

Good for you

BRAP

Not very intelligent then

its a good pleb filter

Is it as fedoracore as the anime?

I watched the 1995 movie, the Stand Alone Complex series, and the new Arise movies, but I haven't seen this one yet. How does this one compare to the others?

No, it's actually less reddit.

Reminds me of this.

cuts out most of the garbage philosophy that only appeals to 13 year olds, there's still a bit of it though

No, they turned it into a YA movie

I have not seen this movie, but I am sexually attracted to the lead actress. However, I am open to the idea that the movie is good, although I suspect that it is not.

It's alright. Some visuals were cool but it needed a better script and a better director. Like the user above said, they turned it into a YA movie. Shameful.

You are the only one, then.

If you liked all the rest of Ghost in the Shell it's yet another take on the world with it's own high and lows. I'd definitely check it out as a fan.

I thought it was just fine

I thought the original was just fine too.

Nice homage movie, but had so much potential for a nice franchise if they wouldn't have white washed the shit out of it

Did anybody got the Avalon reference?

>the major was an orphaned asian runaway that wrote radical anti technology manifestos with her other asian runaway friends until she was kidnapped and had her memory wiped and had her brain placed in a white robot suit by an evil white man who fights her head to head in a stupid looking cgi tank
yes that's actually what happens

When you present it that way it sounds worse than it actually is. Both scenes with her mom are actually really good.

I agree with OP. After all the shit reviews I expected it to be bad, but it was actually pretty decent. Lots of comfy neo-Tokyo visuals and the whole movie is basically a compilation of the best action scenes from the animé.

It's basically just light fanservice for people already invested in the series.

Nope. What was it?

Avalon is virtualrealitykino, btw.

...

What's your point

I did also but mainly because of the impeccable performance of ScarJo.

Motoko's mom lives in Avalon apartments, Major has it on that little card given by French actress.

It started off well, like a decent Ghost in the Shell movie, then they were just like "fuck it" and turned it into the Bourne Identity.

Having said that I thought the film was unintentionally brilliant, contained some next-level meta commentary on the state of the action film genre. The plot (spoilers) involved the Major trying to resist the Big Bad Company from turning her into a soulless war machine and retain her authenticity, while the film itself takes a hugely beloved classic story and guts it, making the film itself into a soulless money machine.

I liked it a very, very spesific GitS sense.

Namely they tried something new for GitS,
which was both having amnesia in a Major,
and this Major being very very young. Other Majors have been aloof and whilst not comfortable in their skin at least aware of it and themselves. Having a Major question/break with that was interesting.

Although it messed up alot and is overall a bad movie, that one aspect of it was enjoyable to me at least.

Best boi

Best GitS coming through.
