Overhyped actors

Why was this guy so huge at one point?
I don't think he has even one good film under his belt.

Hero and Fearless are propaganda kino you pleb.

The one was pretty badass. I liked it as a child and still like it.

Simple story, likeable characters, evil bad guys, happy ending.

his once upon a time in china movies are great

When I was in college I took a film class about asian cinema and the asian professor chick showed us Hero. When it was over she asked for opinions. All the white chicks gushed over how beautiful and poetic it was. Then the asian professor chick proceeded to eviscerate the film and called it pointless fluff that had nothing to do with real China or history. It was quite an amusing swerve.

Hollywood wasted him, Fearless was pretty good.

The Jews don't like leading Asians.

Why would she show everyone a movie if she thought it was crap?

It's film school. She was probably bored out of her mind.

Hero is on the short list over the best action films of all time.

Your professor a shit. The rule of cool is a thing and Hero does it with splendour.

Learning how to analyse bad film is as important as learning to analyse good ones.

Unleashed and Fearless are kino you little shit.

Did the chink professor think she was teaching a history class or is she just an idiot.

Oops I meant unleashed not the one.

This guy was big because Hollywood noticed how Hong Kong action movies were making a big impression overseas, so they tapped into that.

Early on it was the directors, like John Woo an obvious first choice, his former partner in crime Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam, Kirk Wong and Ronny Wu.

After that it was the actors but only at the tail end of the decade, like Chow Yun Fat, Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Collin Chou.

Why was Jet Li, in particular, big? The Matrix was the biggest exponent of the whole "bringing HK action to Hollywood" movement, it was produced by Joel Silver, who had also produiced by him and Jet Li had made an impression as the badass kung-fu villain so Silver pushed him as the next big action star.

Shame his movies aimed low and were targeted at teenagers, I enjoyed them back then, but not anymore. And even his best Hollywood stuff isnt' a scratch on his Hong Kong work.

*who had also produced by it

>I am Yulaw, i am nobodys bitch! YOU are all MY bitches!"
implying the one isnt absolute kino

lethal weapon cucks

...

This and Kiss of the Dragon are his best non-HK flicks.

kiss of the dragon more like kiss my ass

>Kiss of the Dragon

"My name is not Johnny.." wrekt

>Danny and the Dog

Is this what it's called in America or something? Holy shit, that's bad.

Unleashed sounds much better, and even makes more sense.

Danny the dog. My bad. Whatever. Still a gay name.

it's a shitty movie and you have bad taste

>not knowing jet li's most sadkino
Ocean Heaven

Im sorry to hear that user. It must be frustrating to have to attend a bad university.

to show off her film opinion

>filmed and set in Glasgow, not a Glaswegian or Scottish accent to be heard.

lel.

>Is this what it's called in America
No.

Romeo Must Die is good.

The One was fucking great. Except for the whore character.

I have amazing taste and you are shit.

My favorite ending from any kung fu movie. Everyone gets what they wanted, good guy saves the day, bad guy gets a dimension of infinite fighting to rule over.

>film class

OH, it SHOWS

The first Once upon a time in China was pretty gud.

>kitchen hell tier joke
kek, still good
