Japs like South Park? The Chinpokomon episode shitted on the entire Japanese nation.
Carson Scott
I'd imagine they do, only westaboos are a smaller community. Really feels like Japan has been opening up to the rest of the world recently.
They like shipping dem bois
Jacob Smith
>interviewing English-speaking tourists For what purpose?
Jacob Williams
That episode didn't air in Japan.
Xavier Clark
>Random twerking for no reason at around 2:00 Fuck this.
Daniel Gray
American cartoons invented anime so probably.
Benjamin Powell
Yeah. My guess is that they like the dark humour you are unable to get in most anime. Gintama and Osomatsu-san are examples of popular comedy oriented anime (Gintama has been running since 2003 and Osomatsu-san sold very fucking well) and they are light hearted humour, mostly slapstick and funny situations. The darkest comedy anime I know is Panty and Stocking and the show was inspired by Drawn Together, and it didn't do as good in japan as it did here. They also loved Happy Tree Friends.
Also shipping. Even in HTF.
Evan Gutierrez
Dude, don't even start that shit. It's a fucking deep rabbit hole.
Tyler Sanchez
The only reason the japs like watching simpsons is so that can get shota porn out of Bart Simpson. Refer to "Eat my shorts" By Dust6 doujin. But prepare to have the urge to kill yourself after reading.
Jaxson Sanders
Japan fucking loves South Park. They got streams to current episodes and everything and don't get me started on the porn.
There's more on ex but I'd figure people would complain about not being able to get past the panda Way more on Pixiv
Nathaniel Gutierrez
The Chinpokomon episode aired eons ago, most people have never even seen it.
Joseph Taylor
Without a doubt, Disney/Pixar is the only big successful Cartoon here in Japan. Some people like the Simpsons and South Park, but they definitely aren't popular as much as America. 99% of Japanese people see Snoopy as just a mascot character that representing America. They even don't know what Peanuts is, because I've never met a Schulz fan yet in my whole life in Japan. And nobody really cares Marvel, DC and whatever, because the art-style is too realistic and uncute, and the main reason is that Japanese people can't read English books. Damn I wish Sup Forums had flag display.
Jason Reyes
I do believe you user, but flags only cause derailing. What about other 3d movies? Like Dreamworks and the like?
This was never theatrically released in Japan. Not that they were offended or anything, it's more that it was such a small-studio release that they didn't particularly care.
Elijah Barnes
You should introduce your countrymen to the Loud House.
Also I cannot comprehend how you can enjoy 3D animation. It baffles me.
Cameron Cook
I remember a manga way back where the foreword was a translated note from the author where she talked about Charlie Brown:
>“I soon became a fan of [Charlie Brown], but even before that I had a surprising if naive realization, which was that ‘Americans also feel affection and sympathy for this sort of person.’ To us Japanese, Charlie Brown’s character seems ‘Japanese.’ When I think back it’s laughable, but at that time (even though I’d been a fan of American movies and listened constantly to American music since childhood) I only had a stereotyped preconception about Americans–cheerful, sociable, positive, and fair-minded, if a little rough-and-ready… [b]ut when I read Charlie Brown, ‘the scales fell from my eyes.'” (trans. Jules and Dominic Young, OL Shinkaron vol. 1 p. 7)
I would have expected he'd be slightly more popular, but the title of the recent The Peanuts Movie was turned into "I Love Snoopy - The Peanuts Movie" so I guess they like Snoopy better. Still, they managed to sell some cereal a couple decades ago.
There's a really sad story about DreamWorks here in Japan. HTTYD2 wasn't released in cinemas, so some enthusiastic fans started a campaign to bring the movie in Japan, but it ended up with nothing. So I'd say DW is unpopular here, and the BlueSky films are almost non-existent. Strangely, Minions recorded a smash hit, probably because they look cute and catchy.

Austin Long
The Chinese decide who is gay.
Nathan Bailey
I myself am not a fan of 3D animation. I prefer 2D. On that note, the western fans of Berserk (including me) were furious about the new series.
Cameron Evans
The Japanese do like much older western cartoons as far as I know. Wacky Races and Tom & Jerry (the latter being one of the favourites of Anno) are still very popular there, and there have been Japanese commercials from each. The Flintstones was also popular for some reason.
>Do Japanese watch American Cartoons >Interviewing a black girl who speaks perfect english k.
Carson Gray
You're assuming that all the Japanese are some monolithic group entity that are all patriotic. I'd wager that most average people in first world nations aren't really very patriotic, or think their country is the greatest thing on earth. Most people are just apathetic. I don't get insulted when anime or foreign films make fun of the US.
Dylan Murphy
>I do believe you user, but flags only cause derailing. Sounds like you're from Belgium, which of course, is pretty much, a non-country.
Jaxon Brown
The Japanese generally don't care for anything but anime though desu
Does RWBY counts as cartoon? Because i think it got a little popular over there.
Does the old school was a thing over there? You know The Flintsones, Scooby Doo, that kind of stuff
Blake Bennett
Yes, but Pokemon & One Piece out rank it.
Yes, especially Tiny Toons.
Caleb Johnson
Yeah but those are giants, one is a multi-national billionaire franchise and the other has become already part of their culture. If Rwby only got outranked by them it's a huge success, but i don't know.
I see, it's good to know. Anime has been a great influence here in the last 20 years, but has cartoon influenced someone?
Chase Jenkins
You should watch some pre-WWII Japanese animation, most were about Japanese folklore creatures defeating American cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, there even a anime about Momotaro bombing Pearl Harbour with the help of monkeys, the US sailors are shown a Popeye Brutus caricatures.
Jonathan Clark
Theres a issue with that however.
Daniel Johnson
Why is Laura in there?
Bentley Morgan
Best thing in the 2000s that is not a hold hover from another decade (Sinpsons, Futurama, Spongebob).
Nolan Parker
Superman however was known to slap a Jap. Try finding this in HD, the whole of Fleischer's Superman cartoons. Amazing stuff.
I fucking adore it when americans appear in anime. They're always boisterous, loudmouth aryans who wear american flag bandanas or bikinis or something. Always my favorite characters, hands down.
Camden Ramirez
>No budget plus fun in the 80s = good >No budget plus fun in the 10s = BAD
???
Lincoln Baker
WHY DOESN'T TMS ANIMATE FOR WARNER BROTHERS ANYMORE
>A Famous Studio production. Only the Famous shouts delt with war stuff, the Fleischer shorts never deal with WWII.
In fact theres only 1 Fleischer cartoon that had Japanese stereotypes in it, the rest are "Name your enemy here" in order to stay timeless. youtube.com/watch?v=ahM7HaYY9wk
Grayson Butler
Uhh. Why are lucy and Sally making the kissy sounds and have hearts? I'm guessing Snoopy ate Charlie Brown's cereal? This just raises questions.
Nathaniel Lewis
2010s is not fun, it's incompetents. Kenji Hachizaki spoke to Toshihiko Masuda (who he called a ultra long time acquaintance) about such a thing and that they were exciting to go back to their prime, so who knows.
>Thinking that the modern day version of StarToons & Disney Australia is bad.
Seek help, they're just chincy 90% of the time, Luluco's episodes were only short because of labor laws.
Eli Turner
They're literally on par with Shaft. There's far better Japanese studios to choose from, Trigger is a pretty low tier one.
Ian Rivera
Dude, we debunked that, Shaft is just Japanese Wang Film.
Christian Cook
wang film is shit though
Juan Adams
Wang is not shit, thats Encore.
Gabriel Moore
every single one except for TMS and StarToons is shit new zealand freelancers are decent
Noah Peterson
No, read this.
Justin White
Has anyone itt ever seen that American cartoon The Simpsons? I hear it is really really dark
Wyatt Davis
Later seasons are not as dark.
Jaxson Jenkins
how is sunrise that low
Daniel Thomas
>Black people in Japan
How is this even possible? I thought they hated immigrants.
Kayden Anderson
It's a chart of Warner Bros' TV output, they did not do a good job on Batman:TAS due to ditching most of their work to Korea (SMIP) & China.
What was done in Japan became The Big-O.
If Mir was on there they will be under depression due to being founded by ex-JM staff as well as containing some ex Moi, Dong Yang and DR.Movie staff as well.
Liam Moore
This is why.
Andrew Smith
Not really.
It's just harder to immigrate there because the language barrier is even more daunting and there are less institutions designed to make the process easier. The actual people do not give a solitary shit for the most part.
That was tongue in cheek, you retard, Trey is a huge weeb
Lincoln Sanders
That's the best way to get the natives' attention though. People absolutely love to discuss the episode when the Simpsons came to Brazil, especially because it rustled so many jimmies.
Leo Campbell
Daily reminder Masuda is a hack and TMS refuses to work with Warner Bros. anymore on anything.
Brayden Scott
That is 100% false, he is the Bob Clampett of the east and they are trying to get back with Warners.
Nathan Hall
She teaches English in Japan.
Charles Nelson
When was the last time they worked together though? All I remember was them working with WB again for the DVD release of Wakko's Wish.
Cooper Stewart
So what was the Japan opinion on the Tweek x Craig episode? Did they liked it?
Benjamin Powell
Those were retakes, they're setting up more works.
Read No, she hated Bush so much that she moved to Japan.
Brian Ashcraft moved to Japan for the same reason.
Gabriel Kelly
>Telecom will never animate as good as this ever again It sucks that their glory days are over.
Nathan Sanders
The episode that made their decade old crack paring canon? They loved it. iirc they were pretty excited on twitter and 'Creek' was trending on pivix (or in the front page however that site works).
Jaxson Harris

But that's not mentioned anywhere in here. She says it started with a song about Kyoto, just like Henry Stimson. enlightize.com/blog/page/2/
Justin Gomez
How the fuck can you say that when real shit studios like DEEN and CLAMP exist you filthy fucking memer
