>trick americans into watching this expecting a shitty thriller >it's a mockery of their faith >they go apeshit
what other troll-kino can you recommend? the way it tricked people with the trailer reminded me of the anne hathaway kaiju movie.
also will anyone be mad enough to make a porn parody? i'd like to see that.
Joshua Anderson
>>it's a mockery of their faith but God is portrayed as all-loving and benevolent
Andrew Phillips
my understanding was that he is a retarded narcissist who keep repeating a cycle of death and destruction for his own amusement.
Jackson Myers
>we humans are in charge of deciding whether god is a retard or not that ant I stepped on yesterday totally thought I was a retard
Nolan Richardson
More like God wanted to share the world with everyone because he is God and not selfish, all-loving. People couldn't handle it and destroyed the world so God wanted to try again.
Owen Hernandez
sounds like you guys are saying the same thing
Ryan Price
Why is God being a retarded narcissist the same as God loving us so much that he wants to give us a chance?
Jackson King
If a guy I was working with destroyed our entire project because while the result was working, it was not as he desired. He's a narcissistic twat.
Kevin Hughes
you probably are to be fair to that ant.
Justin Russell
I actually thought it was about motherhood in general -- the movie was certainly unforgiving to the audience.
Oliver Lewis
>ctrl+f "jew" >0 of 0
Julian Baker
>mockery of their faith
More like a shockingly illiterate retard's interpretation of "our" faith, unless you think Jeebus was the result of God schtupping the personification of the planet.
Weak metaphor game, tbqhwy.
Noah Wood
I thought It was an allegory about mother mature and humans destroying it
Jeremiah Parker
that's mostly it but with a good measure of biblical allegory and modern religion criticism thrown in the mix.
Sebastian Foster
DUDE ABENGERS XD
Justin Myers
Jewish conceit the movie
Mason Morales
Spring Breakers
Grayson Wright
>Our what part of Israel are you from m80?
Easton Jenkins
You're describing Jennifer Lawrence's character
Brody Thompson
I feel like the marketing for almost every Sandra Bullock movie since Speed has done this. The Blind Side was advertised as a sports movie, the one with the lake house was advertised as a spooky ghost movie/psychological thriller, The Heat was advertised as a thriller, Miss Congeniality was marketed as an action movie, etc. and they’ve all been either comedies or slow burn dramas with just enough thriller elements to fill the trailer.
Jaxon Stewart
Also that Robert Pattinson romantic comedy where fucking 9/11 happened out of nowhere.
Landon Butler
>Robert Pattinson romantic comedy where fucking 9/11 happened out of nowhere shit, that exists? I always thought if I got rich I'd fund a romantic comedy that devolved into an alien invasion/post-invasion resistance movie in the last 25 minutes or so.
Jordan Rivera
It’s a run of the mill drama, oh we’re poor bohemians in NYC, oh my rich father is so overbearing, oh but I’m so sensitive and thoughtful, we can make it work. Then Pattinson goes to meet his dad and make amends at the exact moment the plane hits the tower. Aside from a split second scene set in 1991 and some text saying it’s 10 years later during the opening credits there’s quite literally zero forewarning, and it wasn’t mentioned in any of the marketing.
John Davis
Ala-fucking-bama. And Aronofsky couldn't pull a metaphorical correlation out of his ass with both hands and a rope.
Landon Jenkins
Was it “working” ? was whatever “it” was a shared project between them too?
Xavier Kelly
>Was it “working” ? She was moved to tears by what he wrote.
Juan Jackson
Go back and watch it again kid Sheesh
Blake Collins
The only post relevant to the thread.
Brayden Davis
>what other troll-kino can you recommend?
Super Cabin in the Woods
Thomas Bell
>shitty movie tries to make fun of Christianity Haha based :^)
Lincoln Moore
>shitty how so? well shot, surprisingly well acted especially on jennifer lawrence's part, and it has a clear message if somewhat shallow. it's also something refreshing to see in a theater out of a festival.
James Peterson
I remember my brother wrote a short story that was exactly this in high school. His teacher liked it so much and told him to submit it to a contest. He thoight it was a dumb rushee gimmick ending cause he didnt know how to finish the story prooerly. He never won anything but years later this stupid movie came out with the same stupid twist at the end and i died of laughter while the chick i watched it with cried.
David Thompson
dude are you serious hahahaha It's more like this. t. raised Christian and not an atheist
Chase Evans
Well actually this makes complete sense, but the laughing at the love stone thing had some pretty sinister undertones I thought. But on the other hand maybe he was happy at another chance to try again? I don't know.
Oliver Morris
the laugh was unambiguously sinister I think.
Alexander Price
I felt that way the first time I saw it. I was entertaining his argument though.
Ethan Diaz
>>trick americans into watching this expecting a shitty thriller According to the box office receipts, this part didn't work very well.
Anthony Diaz
his argument works on a theological level, but in the context of the movie I think he was painted as, at best, a clueless and unintentionally harmful figure.
Luke Parker
These were basically my feelings as well.
Kayden White
Do they even have movie theaters in Alabama? Also, "metaphorical" and "correlation" are big words user, well done.
Logan Sullivan
Not even Alabama-user but nice post redditor.
Thomas Williams
>all these faggots discussing mother instead of posting troll-kino
Kevin Stewart
It didn't mock anything you kino spewing idiot. It's just a bad film
This topic proves once again that teenage retards that push the forced kino meme are all low IQ imbeciles
But at least the op was good for a laugh. It's always fun to laugh at the stupid
Ryder Flores
the pure, seething rage of people who don't get something never fails to amuse, thanks user.
also this user is right, post more troll-kino
Cameron Edwards
I understood and laughed at things in this movie you haven't even touched on in this thread. Keep looking for depth in this "art" flick. I assure you, it isn't there, only self-important navel-gazing that pretentious fucks like you mistake for profundity. If this really is a masterful use of metaphor, explain to me why God is pretending to not be God. Explain to me why Mother Earth is giving birth to the Messiah instead of some random "house-crasher."
Most of all, prove you're not just a poseur and explain the meaning of Mother's "potion."
Charles Stewart
Thanks, here's your upvote.
Asher Moore
>damage control this hard
It's ok son. You got humiliated on the internet. It happens. Probably happens to you a lot.
Ian Perry
Hold your horses Alabama man, lest you pull out your NRA badge and impress me with it. Be careful when using big city words like that, you might end up getting accepted into a university.
Robert Thomas
I've already got my degree. Two of them, in fact. Now stop dodging, poseur.
Josiah Morris
I saw an advanced screening of this a theater near my was doing 2 weeks before its release. I felt bad for making my friend see it with me afterwards.
Henry Lewis
...
Isaac White
>while the chick i watched it with cried. lmaoing @ america rn
Tyler Davis
I almost took a friend, but thankfully didn't. there was only me and another unemployed dude in the theater, I think he enjoyed it as well, but it clearly isn't a movie to go with friends. they only screen it once a day here at 1pm so I guess that's as full as it gets.
Kevin Morales
>allegory 101 >mockery /brainlet/ general? I need muh narrative or else I'm lost xD
Matthew Martin
are you implying allegory can't be utilized to mock certain ideas or concepts, even those it alludes to?
Liam Gonzalez
Can you prove this particular allegory was designed to mock these ideas and concepts? I have a feeling you're just triggered.
Jaxon Parker
why would I be triggered by a movie that mocks something I have no connection to?
I don't think anyone can prove the intentions of an artist through an observation of his art unless he himself states said intentions very clearly. however, the nature of creative works allow us to interpret our own understanding of said intentions. in this particular instance my understanding was that both god and religion, especially christianity, were scrutinized through mockery. I've based this assertion on the way the characters were depicted. I also listened to a few interviews which seemed to support my understanding.
seriously though, why would I be triggered by a movie? I'm no burger.
Sebastian Ward
>Super Christ almighty talk about a film that turns dark af Press F to pay respects to Boltie ;_;
Brandon Harris
Im canadian. She wasnt crying for 911 she was crying because the the character in the movie she just spent an hour and a half with died.
