SOMEBODY

ONCE TOLD ME

1st

THAT YOU HAD A BOYFRIEND

2nd

AND HE WAS FUCKING YOU IN THE ASS

...

...

Definitely the first.

2 has its moments but the first is a much better parody of fairy tales.

Shrek 2 It might be a bit more dated the Shrek 1, but just having a passing knowledge about the stuff it jokes about makes it consistently funnier than Shrek 1.

Also, I liked the big dance at the end more than the one for Shrek 1.

>people stone cold sober saying Shrek 1 was better than Shrek 2

Shrek 1 had more memorable dialogue and a better story. 2 relied on too many pop culure references so it feels more dated by comparison. Also, the message was just a rehash from the first movie.

I always liked the second one. The interaction between shrek and his in-laws was hilarious and fairy godmother and charming were easy to hate. Songs were nicer too. Shucks, I remember buying picture books and stickers as a kid when this movie came out

>And then I saw her faaace!

Shrek 1 was much more subtle with it's humor. It's one of the few non Disney CGI animated films that treats the viewer like an adult. The sequels just felt more childish by comparison.

Shrek 1, for It was a glorious stab at everything wrong with Disney (movies). Shrek 2 lost it's edge there.

To be fair, Shrek 2 was more creative in its parodies and had better humor.

Yeah, but I loved Shrek, because of it's subversive humour and that was kinda toned down in the sequels

Regardless of which movie is better, I think the whole "I need a hero" montage is the best part out of both of them.

bump

It felt refreshing at the time too, such a shame Dreamworks no longer does any unique movies that put Disney to shame.

...

This entire scene is pure sex.

Shrek 2 is the best.

2nd.

Granted, the first wasn't bad, but the 2nd had my attention the entire time, which is an impressive feat.

Shrek 2. Puss In Boots is so badass to me.

1 was great and 2 was the perfect sequel.Everything after that was unnecessary.

Shrek the Third

Philistine

My vote's for Shrek 2

I know you're joking but stop joking.

so....is Fiona part frog part human and part ogre?

No, because her dad got turned into a frog waaaaay after Fiona got cursed to be an ogre.

I thought he was always a frog who turned human?

me too. fiona's half ogre because her father used to be a frog.

I like Shrek 2 because I really liked how we got to see more of the world. It just has more interesting stuff going on.

Shrek 1 film
Shrek 2 kino

Oh man, I forgot, the King and Queen are aged up Princess and the Frog.

These movies were greats but god they looked terrible.

Shrek 1 tells a better story.
Shrek 2 is ultimately more entertaining.

The original Shrek was directed far better and was insanely atmospheric for a CG movie.

Switch

it was a novelty at the time, of course they tried their best.

Shrek 2 was funnier, but Shrek 1 had more depth/heart, in my opinion. Shrek 1 was just better overall, but Shrek 2 is the more entertaining movie if you're not as worried about anything other than humor.

Anything past Shrek 2 is shit.

Lewds Dragon pics, pls?

...

The fairy god mother is so much funnier than Farquiad. I don't even know what fairy tale Farquiad is supposed to be making fun of.

He's not one. It wouldn't make sense for him to hate all fairy tale creatures if he was one, would it? Also I'm pretty sure he was based on some disney CEO that the movie creator hated.

having watched both at least 18 times, i'd say shrek 2 but shrek 1 was a good introduction to shrek.

what about that new shrek movie comming out in 2019?

michael eisner. he basically stole katzenberg's chair.

otherwise we'd have more disney musicals (varying quality though) instead of another dark age.

Kinda unrelated, but I sorta liked Shrek forever After, how much of a pleb I am?

The funny thing is the Disney animators thought Katzenberg was just as big a tool as Eisner and mocked the shit out of both of them in office caricatures.

I came here to make sure this was posted. I was not disappointed.

There wasn't anything really wrong with it. There just wasn't anything special about it. It was mediocre, but not offensively bad like Shrek the Third.
