Maybe the people old enough to comment on the internet about it are just too aged out of CQ's demographic. I know that excuse doesn't fly all the time for children's media, but I could see myself buying the first volume for my nephew (who's just starting to learn how to read).

Gigi went full tumblrtard.

Man, hiimdaisy was incredible. Why couldn't she just do that instead?

For Gigi? Not much, she just landed a publishing deal with First Second.
I actually wonder if they'll let her do whatever or if they'll take on a more editorial role.

videogames are dum lol

It feels like it wants to do too much, and is rushing to do those things. Shit like Nightmare Knight secretly being extremely affable and redeemable should be built up to super slowly, but now it's just kinda there and it's like "shit the comic's only half-done?" I actually have no idea how they're going to keep it interesting. I assume it's supposed to be a TEC situation since a lot of Cucumber Quest feels like Paper Mario, but TEC still spent most of the game as a strict antagonist before turning around.

There are probably other examples of rushed plot points but that's the only one I remember.

Though I still think it's funny that Gigi didn't realize she made a trans character that was all about deceiving people, and by the time it was pointed out to her it was way too late to change it.

I dropped CQ right after that chapter. Am I missing much? It just seems boring.

videro games are for sexist little boys

did she seriously. christ
I just stopped reading when the pace became glacial. before that i loved it.

I haven't read the comic in a while. What's tumblrtard about it?

That's what I want to know. Fuck, even if she wanted to stop doing video game comics she could have at least left the existing ones alone, rather than deleting them. I fucking hate when artists do that shit, there is never a goddamn reason to purge your old, well-known and well-liked shit.

The newest update is Cucumber doing a sailor scout transformation into crossdressing. Also the Rosemaster arc was pretty much nothing but tumblr shit.

Kickstarters always kill momentum for webcomics

It's basically a fact at this point

See: Ava's Demon

And the extremely slow, extraordinarily painful death of Homestuck. Something so unique and charming brimming with potential decayed into a desolate desert of despair and disappointment.

Remember the god who fell from the sky and bled; the man, the myth, the monster: Andrew Hussie

It progresses so slowly that it's not worth following.

And it got so boring that it's not even worth reading up on it once a year.

What about Glitchmaster being the true villain?

She left Tumblr though

Are you listing another example of rushed plot points or a hypothetical way to make Nightmare Knight's shit interesting?

well, I guess a bit of both, but I meant the second

Yeah the Rosemaster thing was hilarious. "Oh she has power over people's names and uses that to trick people." What was she thinking? Doesn't she actually have trans friends? It's as baffling as it is funny.

The real question is does Gigi have any friends at all?

I doubt it

pls explain, I read all through Rosemaster's story but I'm a fucking dumbass who doesn't know the context behind this Gigi controversy

The most common stereotype about trans people IRL is that the only reason they're dressing as women is to seduce you and trick you into letting them rape your ass. It's not common nowadays but that used to be their thing back when the discourse hadn't kicked in yet. So making a trans character all about lies and deception feels like a Sup Forums joke, almost.

How long until she has her traditional fit that her comic is being discussed on an anonymous public forum.

Ah man I just remembered, back when the MSPA forums still existed and they had a Cucumber Quest general, as soon as it was revealed Rosemaster was trans a mod stepped in to declare anyone caught using male pronouns or referring to her as Thornmaster was getting banned.

Is she wrong? The usual 'WHY DOESN'T SHE MAKE THINGS I LIKE INSTEAD OF WHAT SHE LIKES' was posted before anything even close to an actual criticism, and it's pretty legit the pacing's shit.
But it doesn't matter because someone dumb said something stupid so everything said is yet again dismissed.

twitter.com/gigideegee/status/813519371377090560

...

I still remember when the paranatural auth. literally said "if Sup Forums likes my comic then I must be doing something wrong"

I see. Thank you.

Maybe my timezone's set wrong but that says she tweeted about eight hours before this thread went up.

It gets fucking funnier. Her response to accidentally making a stereotypically deceptive trans villain was to make another character trans, who wasn't like that.

The character was Bacon, a complete and utter joke character whose whole thing is being pathetic and weak.

Which is odd because he shilled the comic pretty hard here

What if Gigi actually doesn't like trans people very much.

Is that right? I thought it was just implied he had a sister.

>Bacon is trans now
wtf I left CQ because I thought it would never update and I come back to this?

Well he did shift the comic to be more, diverse and lbtq+++++ friendly after that.

On an unrelated note, he also fucked up the pacing and the artstyle. Which is what actually made the comic worse

Possible

I wonder what group she does like

It's a webcomic it was never meant to be good.

wait
twitter.com/gigideegee/status/813177597731295233
is she referencing that one fetish blog? the one where Bubsy the Cat is now a psychotic trans woman? who still has her dick?

Wait, when was bacon revealed as trans? Been a while since I've read since her updates are at a snails pace now.

Do authors not realize that including current-era trans issues is going to make their work ludicrously dated and embarassing to read in four-five years time.

I'd let Rosemaster have her way with me.

Seriously? Well I'm happy I stopped reading a while ago

She goes by "Pancetta" now.

>the creator of this soulless comic is fucking the creator of Undertale

The range of expressions in this comic are so boring.

I think Pancetta is just a character on Punisher Pumice.

>Toby Fox is fucking a hack

Sad!

>Toby made a fun track using the soundfont from based SNES Kirby games for her
m.youtube.com/watch?v=t43ZIrsfof0

You're not wrong but basing it on a character that's supposed to be stoic makes you look retarded.

>one hack is allegdedly fucking another hack

Hardly. she's jealous of how popular it got after she "threw it a bone" by advertising it at release (because her comic did not benefit at all from Undertale's popularity)

Their child is gonna be fucking so fucking 1337

>Toby Fox is a fucking hack

>he's been inside her Donut Kingdom

If your character is limited expressively you play around with angles. 90% of these are the same 3/4s view.

Did it kill Unsounded?

I completely missed the subtext that implied Rosemaster was trans. I thought when they talked about Thornmaster he was like a previous version that got killed or something, and that's why she was sad.

I don't really read this comic with my full attention.

ohhh from the part where they were watching the superhero thing? I thought it was just bacon playing a character, since s/he did the same thing in the play and everybody still called him "him." So did GG confirm that bacon is trans now or is that just something people were inferring?

She's questing for his cucumber

Ew

Yeah, I thought Bacon was just a goofy guy who doesn't mind crossdressing.

She's signing his sword with her tongue

I thought it was a joke about how Nautilus doesn't remember anything from history right

Gigi's problem is that she's not a good writer. She has great comedic timing in short bursts but this is beyond her. She would have created a much more interesting comic if she had just made everything a textless art comic. Any dialog people have in their head is going to be way better than what Gigi spews ruining pretty good artwork.

No Unsounded takes periodic hiatuses and still manages to have a better fucking pace than every other webcomic out there.

Fucking gunnerkrigg. Could that be anymore glacial.

what if Bacon being women was meant to be a joke? I mean Bacon the little snot being called an attractive girl on tv has some comedic potential

In the near cyberpunk future "hack" will replace "fuck".

He's punishing her pumice

She's sealing away his Disaster Master

Some artists want to be the next Philip K. Dick or Ray Bradbury, where they tackle moral and philosophical issues long before they're prominent in the future's sphere of public consciousness so they can be known as a prophet. Some others just want to show off how progressive and inclusive they are to their liberal-minded friends and fellow artists.

It could be worse: they could be going all-out on the 2010s social issues and date their work harder than The Warriors.

>Some others just want to show off how progressive and inclusive they are to their liberal-minded friends and fellow artists.
This is most of them, and if they don't do this, they'll be demonized publicly.

At least with The Warriors, all you need to know is "Manhattan was a piece of shit once" and you get the point. Even then, the stereotype over urban gang violence hasn't COMPLETELY gone away, yknow?

Also it was just fun to watch, but that's just me

They broke up? For all the flak Undertale gets, the story was more interesting than the comic where hardly anything happens at a snail's pace

Aw
What a shame
I was hoping they would get married

It's probably easier to keep a relationship where each is involved in a pretty different thing. Less risk of accomplishment jealousy

not listening to Wisdom instead of People You Know on the Internet

A straight "lol, jrpgs" comic made a tonal shift it wasn't originally meant to have. The issue stems from Cucumber only being able to ask "why" so many times before actually putting his foot down or before it becomes too unbelivable that literally no one else asked the same question for the whole 500,000 years that it happened, and because the story would've just been the same joke over and over with no real narrative meat.

Honestly tho, I haven't really been let down by this comic yet? The moods and lighting are still excellent, and I find that each chapter still manages to resolve itself just fine, developing the main story and leaving new questions for the next chapter.

If there's a point where Gigi's less-excellent writing skills will ruin the whole thing, it'll be the current chapter, because she'll have to explain why we're taking such a big detour from the chapter's Disaster Master in favor of wand backstory, premature Almond drama, or whatever thebestmaster's supposed to be doing. But the chapter's not done yet, so I'm still watching until it is.

Source on that? I do believe you but I want to see it for myself.

Old shame and IIRC gets pissy that it's still more populare than CQ will ever be.

Papyrus and Sans are named after fonts because a friend of Toby's named Jones is the creator of a webcomic about a skeleton, both of which are named Helvetica. Toby's characters were a little joke on that.

Jones's comic faded completely into obscurity as a consequence of their busy life as a graphic designer and Papyrus and Sans are more widely known and beloved than anything Jones could ever hope to make will ever be.

>find porn artist
>found out only 3 images were saved because he/she went full retard and deleted everything

Which country are they from? The might have been compelled for legal reasons

Thebestmaster is painfully unfunny in every respect, which makes a complete waste of his very good character design.

Sad!

>What went wrong?
Terrible fucking pacing and twists that weren't earned because we didn't even know enough in the first place to be surprised.

I doubt it that legal shit had to do with it
>any gook should have been imprisoned for browsing sadpanda or minus8 only ended up doing his drama shit once
I'm not even going to talk about aus or britbong's stupid laws on porno

>because she'll have to explain why we're taking such a big detour from the chapter's Disaster Master in favor of wand backstory, premature Almond drama, or whatever thebestmaster's supposed to be doing.
The truth behind this is that the kingdom they're in right now is gemstone-themed, and people already like to draw comparisons between CQ and Steven Universe based on incidental things like both stories having a villain-turned-tsundere named Peridot and a heavy "cosmic" aesthetic that they both borrowed from Kirby games, so she basically decided that she had to completely redo a lot of this chapter or else risk more of this nonsense from readers by delving into a bunch of other gem characters she'd risk drawing parallels to characters from a show she doesn't even like all that much with.

That's dumb. I think the comic is slow as shit but she should've stuck to her guns

She already said she didn't give a shit about the SU comparisons, and she's already set up an alternate plot in the interlude. And honestly, who the fuck can account for a new cartoon that shares aesthetic with one of your future chapters suddenly becoming mainstream ?

It does explain this sudden and poorly written detour, though

I don't see why an in-universe unfunny character can't exist, let alone when thebestmaster's main mystery is why he exists at all in-universe.

Ironic bad writing is still bad writing

I don't think so, this chapter's not nearly done yet. Taking an explanation just because it fits now isn't going to help if you're wrong as all shit later.

>this chapter's not nearly done yet
And it won't be for 3 years

>no one is allowed to write an unfunny or canonically lame character ever, for whatever purpose

I can wait. Don't see your argument here.

Wasn't Helvetica some Sup Forums meme for a while? Or a header image?

I don't know about that, but it was appreciated when it was started. Wouldn't say it was quite popular, but it had high recommendation rates around here.

Most artists don't realize they won't have time for passion projects if they have to primarily work for other people until it's too late.
