>cbr.com/detective-pikachu-filming-january-2018/

>After Legendary Entertainment acquired the rights to make films based on the popular Pokemon series in 2016, it announced Detective Pikachu as its first project. Now, according to Omega Underground, production on the live-action Detective Pikachu film will begin January 15, 2018 in London.

>Detective Pikachu does not currently have a release date, and its currently unknown who will star in the film. Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) is set to direct the film based on a screenplay by Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) and Nicole Perlman (Captain Marvel). Universal Pictures will oversee distribution of Detective Pikachu outside Japan, while Toho will handle the release within the country.

Will it be kino?

>UHH YAEH RIGHT, I AIN'T GOIN BACK IN DAT BEOWL CHAWLIE

>movie peeks my interest

>finally make a pokemon movie
>don't bank on nostalgia and do some shitty non anime related shit

Going to FLOP

THE YELLOW RAT IN CARCOSA

Tom Hardy

will Detective Pikachu join the list of /our movies/ alongside Blade Runner 2049 and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice ?

Why hasn't Danny Devito been cast yet?

>it announced Detective Pikachu as its first project
first and last desu

I will boycott if Danny Devito isn't Pikachu.

>le Danny Devito as pikachu maymay *Upvote*
Sure is awfully reddit in here

>le contrarian neckbead post

sure IS reddit in here

>getting defensive cuz his meme for 12 year olds is shit on
Sure is REDDIT in here

DID ANYONE MAKE A DANNY DEVITO JOKE YET?

Did you even read the thread?

>after 21 years, finally make a live action pokemon movie
>not related to the main games, nor the anime, nor any of the manga
>it's based on an obscure game noone cared about

damn

Danny Devito shouldnt voice Pikachu.

Tom Hardyshould

Reminder that if they just went with Ash/Misty/Brock and put just a little bit of effort into bringing Kanto to life, this movie could have BTFO IT.

Will this movie have other pokemon or just pikachu?

Adrien Brody as Ash
Christina Hendricks as Misty
Idris Elba as Brock

they all play 10 year olds

yfw it will have a true detective vibe

>emphasizing the next word for le ebin maymay
sure is reddit IN here

You didn't hear it from me, but the project has been pitched to Harrison Ford, who has "expressed some interest but made no commitments".

>Adapt Pokemon Special
>Use real kids
>Go full Cat in the Hat live action tier set design
>make the fights good
>literally print money so much you can get Weinstien off with a slap on the wrist if you wanted

>Mumblechu
I buy it

(((Rob Letterman)))
(((Nicole Perlman)))
(((Alex Hirsch)))
wow

>pokemon
>flop
>when movies like minions and "literally what" original IP animated movies are top grossing each year

When I think of Pokemon I definitely don't think "detective story". Who's stupid idea was this?

>(((Alex Hirsch)))
delete this

>yfw the film opens up with a murder suicide scene in a grimy hotel in the south side of Chicago

I don't want see Pikachu die in the sequel man

This, Pokémon is about adventure and exciting battles, not fucking detective peekaboo or some shit

>not doing an earnest, live action version of the anime series
>not designing an initial trilogy around the three starting poke'mon

I can recognize kino potential when I see one

Someone's career will live in purgatory forever as a result of this movie.

>animated movies
Exactly. This is going to be live action like that shitty Garfield movie with Bill Murray

Seriously.
Ash and Pikachu alone would do well.
Misty and Brock would bait all the nostalgia manchildren.
Easy money.

This.
I'm assuming it has something to do with always sunny which I don't watch.

>designing a trilogy around the three starting poke'mon
>Not having each arc of the the first film be a fight using them

based cast.
good taste in women too, and I usually don't agree with Sup Forums shitters on that.

>live action Pokemon
dumbest idea I've ever heard

It prints money.

>red and leaf existing simultaneously

>not having two separate directors film a red version movie and a blue/green version movie

Pikachu in New York solving stupid mysteries with dogs and cats

they did it to avoid the "muh animal cruelty" shit

This is a Russian psyop btw

Go back to r/Leddit, fucktard

>>finally make a pokemon movie
>>don't bank on nostalgia and do some shitty non anime related shit

Don't be stupid, the whole point is that Nintendo doesnt want to be dragged by fuck ups like with the mario movie, this is just the tip of the dick, if this movie makes them happy (not even about money). The fight for the rights of this movie was the biggest fight between studios since HARRY POTTER, pretty much if nintendo is happy they will greenlight all the 150 million Zelda, metroid and pokemon movies. This is a smart move, a 40 something million movie, a safe bet instead of risking a huge fuck up that would kill any other movies

Fuck off faggot, it's a youtube meme that started with the trailer of the game

It's based on a game, and it's just testing the water. The japs want to see what the jews can do and the jews know that with nintendo you only get one chance so they dont want to risk the potential for multiple IP's on a huge movie. It's a smart move.

>based on a game never released outside of Japan
Of all games to base it on, they choose one that literally no one has ever played besides the weebs on Sup Forums?

Is that Scrafty supposed to be CIA and the Mega Latios the plane?

oh fuck i didnt read the file name, forget i said that user

i'd watch it

So whos more famous now? Mickey mouse or this yellow rat?

>knowing the names of nu-pokemon

Kill your self

Who the fuck is leaf? Who the fuck is Daisy? Also who the fuck are your lead actors?

>Detective Pikachu in: The Toe Knife

MAGNUM

among kids? i would say pikachu. modern disney sucks

>200 million minimum just for the cast
never ever user

They need to make a pikachu movie to shift merchandise of him. There hasn't been a legitimate Mickey Mouse film in years. Why? Because Mickey Mouse doesn't need a movie to sell t-shirts and novelty phones.
