Underrated Cartoons

Pretty watchable/10. All characters are totally better than their original counterparts and the world was alright.

More like wasted potential

More like WHY DID THE CREATORS HATE LION O

i thought the world was fantastic and the characters were just good.
except best kittens of course
but hey Sup Forums can only bitch about this show or report it for deletion, so we're going to have to work hard to actually have real positive discussion here.

I thought it was alright for what it was. The start was pretty great and the episodes that sort of explained the characters and their origins were okay. Then it just sorta went flat but it was still watchable.
The kittens were tolerable, and not totally useless I guess.

Whole-heartedly agree.
Lucy best character

she was great. that whole episode was great. mumm-ra becoming one of the most creative kaiju designs ever was as welcome as it was unexpected
it's pretty clear the best thing about this show was its art and designs. Weird too since if you look at the preliminary sketches they aren't that great, but they had some fantastic turd-polishers in their studio

Uh why did they give the girl cat almost no clothing.

>nuMumm-Ra
>better than old Mumm-Ra
Stop

Because she is built for SEX

Useless maybe, but super adorable.

better than the original 100%

actually good and watchable 0%

It was way better than the original Thundercats but god it was awful, I hear it redeemed itself a bit later on but after an amazing first episode it basically jumped off a cliff in terms of quality for the entire rest of the season

they started the show as street urchins in ragged tunics, but on their way out of the ruined city they looted a lizard caravan which had presumably recently itself looted a circus, and kit chose an acrobat costume. Kat chose something a little more tactical, because he's the kind to whip out some useful trinkets in a pinch, while Kit's usual tactic is befogging men's minds by dancing and playing the flupe

Her organs aren't ready for that though

>Pretty watchable/10.
Bullshit

their treatment of the villains was top notch. they had individual monstrous personalities and they were deadly serious threats

wildcats are built small. she's not fully grown yet but she's older than she looks
lion-o's the opposite, lions are built huge. he's nowhere near full-grown if you look at his dad
interestingly neither is tygra, though he's closer, about a head below his dad's height.
the question is whether lions and wildcats can ever safely mate without splitting the poor dear in half. who can say?

>It wasn't watchable

Reasons? It was an action show and there was action. Even snarf got turned into less of a meme character. The only episode I'd call pretty shite is that robo bear one.

Agreed. Not that there aren't any issues but Sup Forums over meme hates this too much.

i loved the robear one, the villain was pretty cool and the various other creature-races we saw were very well-designed. the fact that they managed to make the berbils so much less lame than the original while barely changing them really says something.
some plots did annoy me a little, some made little sense, but for the most part I still enjoyed every episode.
>meme character
I know what you mean, but I don't think that means what you think it means.

but Sup Forums just loves to shit on this show because it really didnt live up to its potential at all.. but that's only because the potential is so high. it was still by far the best of its kind at the time, aside from avatar

I'm surprised we don't see more thundercats OCs. It's a really fun art style to play around in, almost anything's possible. the various animal people could be almost all the way furry or barely furry at all, depending on your tastes.

We did come up with an idea for a remake where the first season focused on reestablishing the empire and pushing out Mum-Ra with the second season taking place six or so years later dealing with Mum-Ra taking advantage of a Lunatac invasion to stage a comeback against the empire.

Wily Kat was chief of the Empire's Ranger Corps looking for lost cities and buried technology, Cheetara was head of Lion-O's secret service, Tygra was the General of the armies, Lion-O was King, and Wily Kit was a teacher specializing in Thundera History who later starts getting romantically involved with Lion-O.

Their romance is frowned upon by Tygra and other powers that be because although she's their friend Wily-Kit is still of low birth. This causes Lion-O and Wily-Kit to steal away leaving the crown in Tygra's hands. Tygra leads an expedition to hunt them down and bring them back bringing along Panthro who feels he's too old for this shit and Wily Kat who purposefully fucks up the maps to give his sister and Lion-O more of a chance while also leading the expeditions to beaches and towns full of pretty women that just "happen" to be on the way so he can get some fun out of the adventure.

And while this chase goes on the Lunataks attack, and the Thundercats have to set aside their differences to repel the invasion.

I also remember Cheetara challenging Wily Kit to a catfight to prove herself as worthy of being Queen and Wily Kit impresses Cheetara enough with her willpower to pass even though Cheetara makes her tap out.

surely tygra, being adopted, gives no fucks about being of low birth
making tygra a straight up villain just sounds like vindictiveness. christ, all we want is for him to be written like a nice guy. for you to hate him just because the writers hated lion-o is hypocritical as fuck
but yeah we did have a lot of good continuation ideas, back in the day. good times. it's sad how there are so many great ideas for fixing pumyra but their actual intended path for her was so shite

>Gives no fucks about being of low birth

Being adopted into the royal family is one thing, but having a girl go from street urchin to Queen of the Empire is another thing entirely.

>Straight up Villain
He'd be more exasperated than outright villainous. His straight-man nature would play off of Wily Kat during the chase arc for comedy but it would be clear he cares for Lion-O and Wily Kit. He just wants them to stop making a circus of Empire politics. Panthro would be on his side and maybe Cheetara as well.

>Hypocritical as fuck
The purpose of the Chase arc is to provide world building by revisiting places from the first season to see how they change and to provide a cool down from the climax of the first season. It would not be a hit piece against Tygra.

>Fixing Pumyra

I think one idea we had was to have her continue on the fight behind enemy lines in whatever small bit of Thundera Mum-Ra has left.

...

it's a good job nobody has any embarrassing records of anything you've done online

Damn Pumrya caused this

youtube.com/watch?v=NQwgIZ__WrY
No many how many times I try, Sup Forums almost NEVER wants to talk about this.

>All characters are totally better than their original counterparts

Your Bait-fu is weak, my son.

it's not like that's much of a compliment. they didn't have personality in the original

originals were all pretty much shit except Lion-o

she doesn't look like a man tho. Her shoulders a bit manly but other than that it looks like a tough girl.

More like the "Watch Lion-o get literally Cucked" Cats.

like, their PERFORMANCES were good
I think they meant her eyebrows, her "hairline" (it's nebulous, but whatever it is it's the masculine "upward points at the temple, widow's peak in the middle" hairline), and her general sharp look.

their PERFORMANCES were all good back then, they were quality actors, but the writing was so wooden and the famous rankin-bass expressiveness was largely saved for the villains.
you've heard the outtakes right? everyone's heard the outtakes. they are a joy

This.
This was my main gripe against the show

you know what though
lion-o went through some shit, and he showed valor at every challenge. both in-universe shit and spiteful writers. he rose to the occasion and proved everyone a chump

They did cool and fascinating things with Mumm-Ra, at least.

I liked how he was toned down but still felt totally in charge, and had roughly the same voice and mannerism but felt way less MON-STARRRR hammy
and then we got a mon-starr cameo even

most underrated show of all time. starts off as any typical AS show, but turns into a full out drama and its amazing

They were pushing the Lolicat route by the end of the season anyway.

When it was good, it was great. When it was bad it was totally random.
>>Cheetara goes from literally never interacting with Tigra to being in wuv wif him in 1 scene
>>suddenly Lion-O hates technology outta nowhere
Trials of Lion-O was one of the best examples of how to do a storyline reboot/tribute. Takes an old plot that amounted to "Lion-O is just objectively better than all the other thundercats" and changes it to actually addressing his personal weaknesses and growing as a character. Then of course it all gets forgotten the next episode, but still.

>watching a man throw a temper tantrum over several months via the method of claymation telenovela

It's certainly interesting and unique, but I never thought it was good. Season three was the worst: it should have ended when it peaked at the season two finale.

that's a gross oversimplification. season three was more about the town and its people than just about Clay throwing a tantrum. how could you consider episodes like "Dumb" bad?

problem is the network actually TOLD them to go full grimdark with it, which ruined the careful balance they had

holy shit that girl cat.

*blushes*

Such a shame the show was cancelled because I really wanted to see Lion-O's character progression after Pumyra's betrayal.

...

so we all heard the shitty plans they had for pummy, but what would you want? I'm split between two things based on one distinction: is that really pumyra or not?
if it is her, then she should get redeemed, probably realize they had no choice and it wasnt feasible to go through all the rubble for half-dead people to try to resuscitate
if it's just a demon piloting her corpse though, then I'd want cheetara to use her sage training to try to summon her real ghost jaga-style and have it fight the evil spirit for control of the body, taking it back over and bonding somewhat with the others, but then once she's won it's like 'yeah but this body's still dead, so uh bye, back to wherever i was'

The 2002's He-Man and The Masters of the Universe. An awesome series, with an epic to max 2nd season, which unfortunately never concluded.

I saw bits of that. It looked like a huge improvement considering the shittiness of the source material. Still couldn't hold my interest though

For me it was more epic show than the Thundercats. As for the source material, i agree with you, for the Filmation cartoon. But the MOTU mini comics and comics from the 80's were a blast, with a very deep mythos behind it.

Does she have a bf?

not yet, but you have to hurry up before lion-o gets in on that. she's got one year til she's old enough, two tops. and that's assuming her brother doesn't swing in for some twincest. she might even be old enough now, sometimes poor malnourished underdeveloped kids look younger than they are.

He looks like a completely different character without the mom hair.

...

Didnt the original writers get replaced after the first episodes?

Feels like this series had amazing potential but CN or the studio or someone fucked everything up.

The Filmation cartoon is just one version. He-Man at the beginning in the mini comics had typical long hair.

...

urban myth
that's a slight improvement but god dammit youve gotta cut the front and sides.
not to a stupid curtain fringe like the original
but just so your front and back are separate. like the way people always draw jesus.

massive improvement. still needs changing though. a woman can't pull off wolverine-points, they're intrinsically masculine. that's why wilykat and tygra look so great in them
now if you moved them down to the bottom, bottom-corner points are great. even better if they end in puffs like short-pigtails.

First few episodes yes (and the episode where Lion-o relived his great great great grand father's memory) it was but CN kept on replacing writers and that fucked the show royalty

It was the characteristic barbarian fashion of the early 80's. Even Conan had the exact same haircut, during this period.

Ok yeah without boobs it looks like a man

Admittedly, it looked like ass, but the story wasn't terrible.

yeah you see it on some old princes too. fucking baffling. the rules of sexual geometry are very clear: anything larger at the bottom has 'hips', anything larger at the top has 'shoulders'. it even extends to fucking invertebrates, even blind ones.

She looks fine when she's not scowling or angry, but her look definitely needs softening. She's too sharp looking, and sharp looks masculine. Its why tough anime heroes have spiky hair.

I fell sorry for any show that aired on the Hub that had to deal with being overshadowed by Pony.

that show just looked like Canadian Flash Yugioh Attempt #35

I NEED TO FUCK HER.

MY LIFE FOR A CATGIRL

she's just a drawing, user
the plus side is you can get more drawings, doing anything you want, for a modest fee

Nigga, does that look like flash to you?
It still looked a billion times better than what the Japanese version was doing at the time.

standing still it did. as i recall the animationw as significantly less impressive
but my point was that it LOOKED like it was another of those, not that it actually was. at that point nobody was giving new shows like that a shot. I can't even remember the names of the others, they were all totally generic.
their descendant is bullshit like skylanders and all of ITS knockoffs.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I NEEEEEEEED IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

Agreed, fucking CN, fucking Sup Forums

At least Voltron is doing well for itself

Maahox was a 10/10 villain and he deserved to be in the Netflix series.

Pidge isn't quite wilykit but she IS like sailor mercury and radical edward wrapped into one cute sweaty package, so she's up there for sure.
go look up all the fanart on the interbutts, then commission s'more

Mark Hildreth needs to come back as Lotor.

Easiest game of spot the furry.
Don't get me wrong I love wilykit too but damn keep a lid on your autism

Man, there is not a single version of Teela, who is not hot as fuck!

None of you seem to understand the situation....

I NEED THIS I NEED A CAT GF

well you might be able to find one willing to cosplay
or if it's just the rubbing on you and purring part, honestly most girls are like that if you make it clear you won't laugh at them for it.

...

You realize he's more than likely a fat sweaty neckbeard with social anxiety.
You could commission a plush I guess or track down a toy on ebay

find a girl with cri-du-chat syndrome

having a girlfriend is great exercise motivation

I liked how there was an actual physical transformation between Adam and He-Man. It removed most of the "how fucking stupid are the people of this planet to not realize they're the same person" factor.

not to mention 'if the he-man transformation doesnt make him more muscular then what the fuck DOES it do?'

>Sterility

WTF's going on with his left hand?

it would appear... a heavily stylized thumb, tightly curled fingers, and the middle finger bent down while the others are up

My organ is ready

>Grass on the field

It looks like a golden raisin.

yeah that's pretty bad art but really it's no worse than samurai jack's square fingers.. it's just the opposite.

Snerf

>I’ve been making fun of you with my buddies since you sent this stupid fucking post in the first place.

And we make fun of you, Danny Boy. Funny how that works.

I love this show

for a serious action show they spent a lot of time either teaching bad morals or teaching morals badly I'm still not sure which

the episode with the duelist comes to mind, as well as the episode with these Pikman like people

Furthermore some shit just never made sense and was never explained, like Panthro and his tank, he came from a society that not only didn't have that type of technology but didn't believe in it at all, but he just happened to find and be able to work a fucking tank

add on top of this stuff like the Cheetara love triangle and how whiny Liono could be at times and after a little while I found it hard to watch

I will agree the villains were the strongest point of the show but most episodes weren't spend on Mummra they were spend on random adventures that quickly lost their charm

the tank is one of mumm-ra's. his tech and his animal slaves populated the fuck out of this planet way back. going to search for it was part of his and grune's mission in the first place. not the tech specifically, since at this point they stopped believing it existed, but something to plunder and bring back.
what was wrong with the duelist moral? or the petalars?
lion-o was never whiny, he just got shat on a lot
the love triangle was awkward but in fairness it was total 'this girl is nice to me, she must be in love with me!' shit.
i liked the random adventures but yeah we could have used more villain shit so he wasnt just a 'suddenly shows up'
