Is this what you guys mean by "Calarts"?

Is this what you guys mean by "Calarts"?

Is this Loss?

Yes.

Daily reminder that many beloved show creators such as Stephen Hillenburg, Butch Hartman, Genndy Tartakovsky and Craig McCracken went to Cal Arts.

daily reminder that some talented people have also emerged from third-world countries

They also all had distinguishable styles.

That was long before calarts began teaching a single homogenized artstyle while discouraging anything that deviated from the so called "path"

Like?

>People here actually believe this.

It's tru but there is a in house style at calarts currently
It's hard to find a style so having a default one properly helps out on projects etc.

Well obviously. Cal Arts is old. It was started by Disney a long time ago.

it's showrunners making compromises to create a simple and appealing show for the network. Quit being a shit user

the style that calarts teaches is actually kinda glen keane like

>It was started by Disney a long time ago.

>mfw the 'saviour' of animation planted a time bomb as a parting gift to the world at large

>felix the cat

That little shit was the first bad cartoon.

Okay but does anyone else hate this style of advertisement art? You know, the one so creatively void of vision everything is simplified into literal simple shapes for readability and to come across as more "neutral"? The sorta art that Chris Ware really popularized in the last couple of years?

And I don't mean the actual good shit chris ware makes that's just kinda minimalist but still has craft put into it, I mean stuff like this that asshats in silicon valley propagate as modern commercial art

Never got the deal with that bear show. Looks boring to men niggas.

Usually its regurgitated as this kind of art and its usually used for trite shitty political opinion pieces and it just reeks of deluded indignation and cognitive dissonance and pretentiousness

Is that scene on your pic from night in the woods? Or where is it from?

I can think of a few google guys from India but that's about it.

"feminazi stole my ice cream", I was hoping not to link it since it would likely derail the thread.

This is the kinda shit I really detest there are ads in this style all the fucking time and its so shitty and bland and boring to look at

This one is at least tolerable because of the cheekyness, but it still sucks because they could've animated something with actual style instead of this post modernist art nouveau garbage

Thanks dude, i was not giving the game a chance because i thought that video was a cutscene from it

That CalArts look with the slanted oval eyes and C-shaped ears is definitely tired and played out. If you look at most creators' concept art, it looks nothing like that, but apparently studios insist on giving everything the CalArts treatment to keep the animation relatively standardized and easy to draw, which saves animators a lot of time and effort having to learn different styles.

Is that Bendy lol

Just because you wasted money copying noodle arms and thinking you were going to get somewhere doesn't mean you have to lump yourself with the actual successes.

nelson mandela

Honestly, I'll believe this is CalArts fault when people start leaking lesson plans from them that actually show them saying "yes do noodle arms and circle eyes to anger the Sup Forums"

Yeah, South Africa is doing so great now and the black population is so much better off now than it was in the 1970...oh wait.

read the first word of each panel

Agh! That hideous animation. I'm not a great animator, but the ease in, ease out is on the whole arc of the ball so it doesn't seem to have any gravity, there's no force in the movement of the legs, and the ball doesn't even squash and stretch. .

At least its not Zimbabwe.

Are you asking him to literally list famous people?

You ain't a real man, that's the problem.

how do you actually believe that?

I guess we have some einstein here!

...

>At least its not Zimbabwe.

Not yet, at least. :^)

>violently drive out the white farmers
>society begins to crumble
>beg white farmers to return
>gets colonized by the Chinese

/gd/ here, it has nothing to do with pretentiousness, readability, art nouveau modernism etc, it's just simple as fuck to draw and animate in Illustrator and After Effects, especially for designers who don't really know how to draw.
