Watch samauri jack religiously when I was younger

>Be hyped for the final Season
>First episodes are great but feeling uneasy because there's a lot of focus on Ashi

>tartakovsky is going to straight up ignore The guardian for Ashi
>People will defend this

If you want the final episode of Samurai jack watch Episode XXXII: Jack and the Travelling Creatures

I'm sorry but as someone who has defended Samuri jack, and at first didn't have a problem with Ashi, I'm starting to realize that this final season isn't even about Jack, It's about Ashi.

I understand character development and all but the daughters of Aku were a mistake. Make ashi a side character in the final season or something. There's alot of wasted potential here, and I can't beleive I'm saying this to one of my favorite shows of all time that had a huge effect on me.

Very fucking disappointed.

The guardian is dead, Aku destroyed all the time portals. Move on.

>tartakovsky is going to straight up ignore The guardian for Ashi
Pretty sure he's specifically said he hasn't forgot about him. I understand your concern, but so far it's been very much about Jack, so wait a little before you're disappointed, yeah?

What implies that has been retconned?

Genndy confirmed that the Guardian will appear again and be adressed.

We even saw images of this episode on promo photos.

Now kill yourself.

I don't want to doubt tartakovsky, but I'm having serious doubts with just 5 episodes left. The guardian episode was way too important to retcon out.

>We even saw images of this episode on promo photos.

Was this leaked recently? haven't seen them yet

>Oh no! In just 10 episodes there will be no place for every developement regarding the span of fifty years!

>t I'm having serious doubts with just 5 episodes left.
Doubt all you want but at least wait for the execution before judging.

There will be a 2min cameo with him probably, can't have him take up too much screen time. That's all needed for Ashi.
Just like how the Scotsman would return but he didn't even get 3min before he died because Ashi needed more screen time, that was like a slap in the face to all fans.

It's still to early to tell, I am too worried about how much screentime Ashi seems to be getting and is going to be getting, but I really hope that in the end Gendy makes the story about Jack. We just have to hope.

Either way I wouldn't express my concerns just yet, Sup Forums is thirsty for a new cartoon so right now claiming that SJ is anything but a 10/10 literal perfection show might as well be a bannable offence.

>Tfw scottsman was pushed over for more Ashi screentime

Sauce

In the adultswim Q&A someone asks about the Guardian, Gendy basically said "We know he exists, and we tried to give a conclusion to all loose ends", so a pretty vague statement but at least it isn't like he forgot.

As for the images I think he's just lying, images of the Guardian in season 5 literally don't exist

The scotsman still exists as a ghost, he even said he was going to look for jack along with the hundreds of his daughters who all worship Jackimagine Jack surrounded by those thousands of amazonian women all craving for his sword

>Was this leaked recently? haven't seen them yet
Not leaked, they were taking photos of the studio and posting on twitter or something.

I dont have the picture now, but it showed the giant robot cemitery where The Gaurdian lives.

See this is what bothers me, as soon as something it's popular waifufags come around to ruin the disscution, and adding more women to Samurai Jack is not helping.

Someone repost the posts where Scotsman takes control of his daughter's body while Jack is fucking her.

Alright, Why is everyone shitting their pants over Ashi? Seriously?

Jack is broken and borderline insane by now and is still trying to make the right thing. He is completely tormented and hopeless. It is understandable with 50 freaking years passing by and he not being able to understand what's happening to him (no ageing) and coming to terms he's stuck in the future (all portals destroyed) and has lost probably the only known way to defeat Aku (his sword). This is the fall of a hero. It would be unreasonable to think he would bring back the hole by himself without the help of anyone.

Then you have Ashi, someone who didn't even conceived that the universe wasn't made by Aku, wasn't loved at all and was told she had the sole purpose of killing Jack. That she was explicitly born for that purpose. And then is taught that everything she knew is wrong and that there was a different time before Aku was even there, something inconceivable for anyone that future since they'll all been born in the times of Aku. And soon she'll be learning about Jack's travel from other people, reinforcing the idea that Aku is evil from third parties. This will enable her to understand Jack and question her upbringing.

Why is people bitching so hard about her? Why is it that triggers people to say this season is bad? This is still Jack story, but like any story, it's ok to have companions, and it's cool that they go along for the ride. I don't see why people is so triggered by having Jack share the spotlight. Otherwise this season would be nothing be torture porn

Its mostly one person.

>You'll just have to trust my word, an anonymous poster on a chinese cartoon board.

I swear man, every single jack thread I go there's people bitching about how this seasons sucks because of Ashi. And sometimes they aren't even jack threads...

i'm ok with ashi but this argument is retarded. you can't just go around saying anyone who disagrees with you is a single entity

>you can't just go around saying anyone who disagrees with you is a single entity
I can and will. I'll name it Sup Forums

Why do people even care about The Guardian?
Every character besides the Scotsman is a one shot character, get over it

I think and would've prefered a journey of self-recovery and so I think Ashi feels unnecesary and a little shoe-horned in.

>I never watched the episode

Even more reason for people who didn't watch the original series to not have a opinion.

By now Jack is well past that point as he has been fighting ever since his childhood and there's little to nothing left.
I think the problem is more about what people expected and what they got what stops them to appreciate the series for what it is.

It doesn't matter that "Jack was destined to use it", they wrote that when they had no idea what to eith the show, if they feel like ignoring it, they will.

That doesn't excuse bad writing.
You can't have something of that significance, and just ignore it because you want to shoehorn in a romance subplot.

You are literally defending bad writing. I love Samurai jack but that doesn't mean I can't criticize obvious flaws.

You know the drill

>makes claims of images
>doesn't post images

You're lying.
If you can't post the images you're automatically lying.
We saw Ashii leaks.
We saw Aku fucking shit up.
We haven't seen the Guardian.

I can't believe we have to say this shit in 2017:

Pics or it Didn't Happen

>You are literally defending bad writing

No, I'm saying the bad writing is in the first 4 seasons they wrote of just wandering arround instead of takin the plot somewhere

Alot of those episodes had self-contained plots, but the show still had an over-arching theme of jack returning to the past. The guardian episode was significant because it was one of the few episodes that had a direct reference to jack's main goal of returning to the past.

For being fair it's not like what I expected (and many others) was out of the realm of possibility, nobody expected Ashi when the new season was announced, some people, including me, are bound to not like it.

>hello fellow samurai jack fans I am a samurai jack fan like you but let me tell you why you should watch Steven Universe instead

And that's cool too. You don't have to like, but if you (or anyone) don't like it, you're not bound to stay and watch it either. You're always free to drop it and call it shit.
But not linking it, bitching along the way and still watch it it's kinda of an oxymoron. It's not like you're being forced at gunpoint to stay

Well I mean personally I still think it can be good, not as good as it could be, but I'll enjoy it for what it is. I think Sup Forums is overly sensitive to criticism towards Samurai Jack for some reason, just because I don't like Ashi it doesn't mean I think it's shit, I still thought the last episode was great, for example, but judging by the promo, I'm not sure if I'm going to like the next one, and I don't think Sup Forums can deal with opinions like that for some reason.

We'll most likely see Guardian related stuff in due time. I just worry that it could be too rushed, like various other things thus far.

>have such a poor sense of writing that you would think blue Morpheus could ever be anything other than a shitty MacGuffin
The reason people like you never get nice things is because you don't deserve them.

Because your opinion boils down to waaaaaah ashi exists for the next episode instead of looking at the big picture, we get to see what effect Jack has had on the world in his decades of wandering and if what the Scotsman said was true, episode 7 is likely going to show us exactly how Jack lost the sword, what event finally broke him, and likely closure to the mounted samurai that's been following him around but I bet you'll still complain because ashi will be there

>we get to see what effect Jack has had on the world in his decades of wandering and if what the Scotsman said was true
You could do this without ashi and it would be great, you could do all of that without ashi, actually. After the last episode Ashi is really unnecesary, but she's still there for some reason.

Genndy said he didnt forget the Guardian in the livestream before Episode 1

>t. Ashi

>point out you're being autistic whining about ashi
>proceeds to whine about ashi
Start wearing a trip so we can filter your unrestrained autism

Do freaks actually like that shit? I saw something describing the show once and it looks like nothing but a giant dyke fan show while also promoting trannie freaks.

Judging from other threads the main issue people have with Ashi is that she's a girl rather like is that is somehow inherently bad. I still want to see where do they go with all that and wait until the end to see if the whole ordeal was worth it or not.
And as were I'm might be as invested in the series as you, that could be true; but after spending so much time on Sup Forums in general, I started getting fed up with people disliking thing for the sake of disliking or be contrarian.
People tend to be just repetition boxes of crappy opinions just to trigger people. I really wanted to see if there are valid points to dislike this season of SJ.

Screeming autism doesn't make you correct or me incorrect.

This is precicely what I meant, Sup Forums is sensitive against any criticism regarding anything in the new SJ season, and act like everything it's completively perfect, damned be anyone that disagrees.

This is exactly the problem. Ashi is not inherently bad as a plot device to explore Jack's doings in the past. And it will serve to aid Jack by having a better understanding of him.

That's one way of doing things, some people don't like it and think it could be better, I don't know why it's so hard to understand this.

Nigga, I don't care.

Because you're basically bitching about how they didn't do things your preferred way rather than actually criticizing the show

Whenever I try to explain why Ashi doesn't fit the SJ formula from past seasons I get called a nostalgiafag to deflect from the argument at hand, at this point I just don't bother.

All I'm saying right now it's that Ashi isn't objetive narrative perfection, within Samurai Jack or not. Although for granted it's episode 5 and it could be redeemed.

>doesn't fit the SJ formula
How, he's had plenty of sidekicks through the series, most notably the Scotsman
Some of them have tried to kill him, only the Scotsman has been shown as going after him though
If anything doesn't fit the previous formula it's Jack himself but that's been the driving theme of this season so far

OK, so how does this doesn't fit?
Because Jack was a lone wolf? or because Jack was episodic?

I'm gonna throw away the fact that this is what we got instead a movie (which would probably be 1:30 long) to complete the series and that the tone of this season is meant to be completely different to the previous ones.

From where I'm standing Jack being a lone wolf would be only torture porn, completely a la Evangelion.
As for being episodic, well, they wanted to make a movie so they would had probably strung everything together.

>ITT

Sidekicks isn't what doesn't fit, it's the fact that ashi and Jack seem to be co-dependant on each other for the show's plot to progress.

Right now it doesn't seem noticeable, but as soon as the 5th or 6th Ashi episode in a row comes out there's going to be more people in this side of the argument

>pic related
Holy fuck, stop. I agree with the issues with Ashi, but fucking stop.

>The guardian is dead, Aku destroyed all the time portals. Move on.
>Aku got rekt by a bunch of elementals Jack beat the shit out off
>guardian beats the fuck out of jack

>thing is bad because it doesn't fit preconceived formula

kys my man

Well yeah, pretty much, shaking things a little is never bad but in a finale of 10 episodes it's more questionable

>co-dependant
How, Jack's guilt is clearly his current driving force which was established in the first episode of the season and Jack is only a catalyst for Ashi's development which again has already been shown, as for your other "point" there hasn't been an Ashi centric episode yet, 4 and 5 developed her character but also developed Jack by playing off each other, not leaning on each other
Just admit you have an autistic poorly grounded dislike of her and I would respect you more instead of your transparently trying to make it about something else

I don't know, to me Ashi is above the sidekick label.
A sidekick would been the Scot, since he was there to battle baddies and shit. Ashie will be playing a very different role, a la the saviour of the saviour. So yeah, there's the co-dependant factor that will be arising soon, but this is ignoring the fact that Jack has literally lost everything. Having him pull himself out of the hole would make it unrealistic and probably Genndy had two choices. Keep the season more light-hearted so Jack isn't so deep in the hole, where Ashi would be an unnecessary addition, or go deeper and have someone help Jack out of his misery.

Supposing he is to become King as per the Guardian episode, he would need some sort of aid other than the merry people he saved. He would need to recruit an army of sorts with more people, this might be the reveal in the end. That Ashi was his right arm to become king.

The guardian appears in the next episode but as a brief cameo. He doesn't have any significance to the story. Will upload image of the area, don't have one of the character them self, but just the area. It is during daylight, but you should be able to recognize it.

>there hasn't been an Ashi centric episode yet
How was episode 4 and 5 not about Ashi AND Jack? This isn't about Jack taking a back seat, it's about another character unrelated becoming a main character, which is the main point of the complaint.

And you can't see why some people don't like that? Again, a story of self-recovery is what many expected and didn't get, so comes Ashi as a plot device rather than a character to make Jack get back on his foot.

...

>another character unrelated becoming a main character
You mean like the Scotsman, you're just being autistic about Ashi

It IS a story of self-recovery, but apparently you and others think that you have to pull yourself out and it's somehow unacceptable to have anyone around you to help you.

>Ashi as a plot device rather than a character to make Jack get back on his foot.
Actually she's playing both, Ashi's actions make Jack question whether is alright to leave her to die or kill her like he killed her sisters. Ashi made Jack remember nice about his past, not just the guilt that consumes him.

The Scottsman was a main character in like 8 episodes of 50, though. Not 7 out of 10 in a single overarching plot season.

So, he still had a story arc just like Ashi has a story arc
>b-but 10 episodes
Not an argument since these 10 episodes are written with her in mind and she's not even a badly written character and is developing
Your argument is literally "I don't like her because she exists" as proven by the fact every other straw you grasp at is quickly shown to be false

>Not an argument since these 10 episodes are written with her in mind
This is the problem to begin with.
>not even a badly written character and is developing

>"Man it's been 50 years, I have no hope, aku is so evil"
>Foolish samurai Aku is actually the good guy!
>"No he is not!"
>Oh ok

10/10

I don't know why people are surprised, Samurai Jack was never that good. More than half of it was just plain stupid.

>it's a reductionist argument episode
Thanks for confirming you can't back up any of your points besides "I don't like Ashi because she's Ashi"
I'm sure this is what happened when you tried to claim other people blew you off for being a nostalgia fag
Wear a trip autist

>implying it wasn't hinted her nature was good from the beginning
>implying it wasn't shown she was curious and repressed from the beginning
>implying she didn't spent like 80% of her on screen time trying to kill Jack
>implying she still doesn't really trust Jack
Ok then

Genndy's a good writer, I think Ashi has way more significance to the plot than we realize. We still don't know who the High Priestess is, how the cult was formed, or who the father of the daughters actually is. If I know anything about story structure Ashi will serve some greater purpose that complements Jack. Also Jack is like, DEACADES older than her and there hasn't been any romantic tension between them so I don't understand where your getting that from. Looking at too much fanart perhaps?

Jack has to get back to the past somehow. I highly suspect that it's going to go the path of Jack going back to the past to save that era from Aku while Ashi stays in the future to save that era from Aku.

>Guardian is dead
He had been defending that portal for centuries. Do you really think Aku hadn't tried to take him on before? It required a deity to show Jack where that portal was in the first place.

>First episodes are great but feeling uneasy because there's a lot of focus on Ashi

So far only episode 5 really focused on her. episode 1-3 were exclusively about Jack, and episode 4 gave her more attention yet always shifted to Jack's inner monologue about whether she should help this girl or if she's lost.

The "focus" is just the story shifting to Ashi's perspective because Jack is just as much a mystery to us as he is Ashi. I find no problems with the story so far, I didn't come expecting for Genndy to do the exact same thing as last time.

What's your opinion on the final episode of the original run?

Do you think you'd deep down prefer Samurai Jack ending on that note instead of this extra finale season?

>I didn't come expecting for Genndy to do the exact same thing as last time.
this

The idiots who wanted more of the same are incredibly entitled.

Fuck no you dumb fuck

Exactly. The entirety of Samurai Jack has always been two kinds of episodes. The episode where you finds something cool to fight for thirty minutes or the episode where he meets someone cool. Though Ashi isn't as cool as say Scotsman it's nice to have a character carry through the story rather than have five different characters who don't show up again.

I said it once, I'll say it again
Jack works as a great foil.

>adding more women
user, i swear to god, i want to agree with you on the ashi thing, but you sound like your about to make fools out of us both.
the way you talk about this makes me think that...
oh jesus fucking christ im about to go full tumblr
the way you talk about this seems more like you have an issue with female characters.

GIRLS RUIN EVERYTHING ):

Female characters do ruin media. They're always presented as how they've never been. Sup Forums looks at the Scotsman's daughters and go "Yes amazonian powerhouses and snu snu!" Realistically women are not only weak but abysmal warriors and combatants.

And guys simply love the stupid ass fantasy of a woman that can kick their asses. Of course they omit the part where a woman who kicks your ass doesn't want your beta ass in the first place. Women don't like nice guys or weak men. Yet here's Sup Forums spamming their waifus ignoring with sheer delusion that if they were real and adhered to reality? They would be disgusted with all of them, even the furry ones.

Aku has as much or as little power as the dramatic needs of an episode demands.

I wouldn't be surprised if Aku's power is literally based on his mood, but it ultimately doesn't actually fucking matter. Aku accomplishes based on the needs of the story, not on definite capabilities.

Arguing over whether him killing the Guardian is feasible is like arguing over the physics of Gurren Lagann or the biology of Godzilla. It's fundamentally irrelevant to the kind of story at play here.

>disscution

I want foreigners to leave.

>even the furry ones
You take that back right the fuck now.

Even if we were all in agreement with your views on real life women, that doesn't matter much with fictional characters. No man can jump good like Jack, or have the stamina and discipline to fight off a horde of zombies plus Aku, or the skill and reaction time to defeat a team of bounty hunters coordinated in an ambush in the span of time it takes a drop of water to fall without doing any fatal damage, not even to the one he threw bombs at but these impossibilities are not worth complaining about because Samurai Jack is a work of fiction that does not attempt to present itself as realistic.

>tartakovsky is going to straight up ignore The guardian for Ashi

Faggot, please. Genndy specifically said he remembered The Guardian, which means the character (and the time portal) will show at some point in the last five episodes.

>tartakovsky is focusing on jack getting his dick wet

And...so what if he is?

I get it, I do. You wanted the exact same kind of show you saw when you were a kid, rather than the slightly more mature take on the property that Genndy and the [adult swim] crew have delivered. And I understand the disappointment; this is not the revival you were promised back in 2015. But the problem is that you had a specific expectation for the show in mind. That is your fault, not Genndy's. He is delivering his vision of the ending to a story he created. Why should he somehow be blamed for not delivering your vision of a story you did not make?

I will admit that Ashi's arc seems a bit rushed; such is the nature of trying to flesh out a major supporting character in a ten-episode season of half-hour episodes that intend to end the series proper. That said: The only reason to actually dislike Ashi as a character is her slightly rushed arc. She is not that bad a character in all other regards.

And so what if Ashi gets some focus? Would you really have accepted a filler episode where Jack visits places from the first four seasons and flashes back to when Aku had not destroyed them all? Ashi serving as a central character for a couple of episodes gives us an "in" to a nostalgia-laden filler episode while giving her the perspective necessary to bring Jack from the brink of his breakdown. Ashi is as important to Jack's arc as he is to hers. If their relationship becomes romantic, yes, it would feel as rushed as the rest of Ashi's arc. But what would be the big deal otherwise?

A lot of y'all seem mad that Genndy decided to do the show his way instead of your way. I suggest getting over that pain; the next five episodes are his, not yours.

How about you try looking?

idiot.

user. Someday you will get laid and you will realise WHY this was important.

The funny thing is they would have no problem with her if she had been a guy or a little boy. But because she's a woman they have to scream boogeyman.

Women are NOT good for anything except fucking. So taking offense to presenting twats as everything they have NEVER been is perfectly justified you mangina.

You're right, he ruined the series. Jack doesn't even look like the old weathered bad ass he did in that episode and tartakovsky has gone full GRILL POWA feminist with that dumb asian cunt ashi.

The guardian episode was the most bad ass episode in the whole show and he fucked it up. Season 5 is the new legend of korra for samurai jack. It's finished.

He forgot he only remembered when someone mentioned it in the questions

t. Henry VIII

The real question is how much of this season Jack is going to spend in a loin cloth, his pimp suit barely lasted 5 minutes

>one person

What is with all the fucking morons shitting on the new season over -episodes that havent even aired yet-?

>Well, every single episode has been great so far, but I know he's just going to fuck it up next episode!

You faggots have been saying that three episodes ago, and were wrong every time.

Fuck off with this stupid bullshit.

Keep talking, your bullshit is fun to read.
