What is the best Corto Maltese story, and why is it pic related?

Also, /bd/ general

it's pic related

and why is it pic related?
Because it features everyone's favourite mad baron

Never read Corto Maltese, what's it like?

Corte Sconta is my favorite, although it's been a while since I've last read Ballad of the Salt Sea. Probably because I like the setting and the whole "One last glorious charge" theme a bit more.

On an unrelated note, I've just finished the Incal, and I'm a tinge let down. While I love the art and some of the imagery, I wasn't really fond of how the story keeps having these supposedly important characters pop out of nowhere, be built up, but then not really do anything. I'm thinking of picking up Arzac next, but how close is the writing style to the Incal?

There's also the cartoon series. It's a nice one, way above average level, but they draw Corto very softly, like a younger version of his comic book counterpart.

Her voice was so hot

>the Duchess shooting Corto dressed as a secret spy instead of wearing a giant fur coat

The fuck is this shit!?

That's not Fabula di Venezia.

Arzach is written by Moebius, who is less extreme than Jodo.

>falling for the Jodo meme
Anyway, Moebius is based, although is best work is, undoubtely, Blueberry

Does Les Nombrils count as a bd?

requesting storytime

Corto Maltese is the quintessential Corto Maltese story, but I don't think it's the best. I think It's Ballad of the Salt Sea.

Does anyone know which story this quote is from?

Are there any more caps of her? She's honestly the best corto girl.

I bought this
on Sup Forums's recommendation. It's pure shit.
If you like crude b&w artwork, nonsensical story progression, stereotyping and lame "plots", you might be Euro enough to fellate Corto Maltese.
No one will storytime it because it would break the illusion that Corto Maltese is a "good comic".

Too easy, newfag. Corro Maltese in Siberia. Just after the visit of the Red Lanterns that tell Corto that SHE is in Hong Kong, and right before Corto beating the shit out of Rasputin for saying that Corto makes the puritans laugh

I'm at least able to enjoy the Fletcher Hanks stuff as the oddball efforts of a madman, but Corto Maltese is about on the same level storytelling wise.

Fuck everyone who recommended it. And I say this as someone who loves GOOD European comics.

I knew it was Siberia, fuck. It's been too long and a friend sent me it asking me if it was Pratt's art.

>He didn't read it in Italian or French
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

>Stereotyping
Ignoring your comment on the artwork, let's assume you're not bait/retarded for a second. Where did you get this feeling from in Ballad?

>IDW still haven't translated it, because of shenanigans with the last company who translated Ballad i.e. the same company that fucked with the page sizes and COLOURED THE DAMN STORY LIKE THEY'RE TED FUCKING TURNER
Still mad

I want them to hurry the fuck up, Ballad of the Salt Sea is one of the best Corto stories and that fucking mess of a translation and CROPPED FUCKING ART was terrible.

>muh Polinesian sailors speaking in broken English and having tattoos

Let's just ignore the fact the Cranium or Skull or whatever you call himm was one of the smartest characters of the series, Taki Jap and Rasputin did not fall into any stereotype of Japanese and Russians, and who was The Famous Sbrindolin?

Anyway, that is surely bait. You shouldn't have given him a you

>that pic
Nice bait. 7/10

You bought the wrong thing. Basically that publisher was garbage and released an upscale of the digest version of the story. So not only were panels rearranged and modified but it made the artwork look all jagged and blurry.

>Anyway, Moebius is based, although is best work is, undoubtely, Blueberry
I like you user.

Blueberry>>>>>Incal>Parable

Crude artwork?! Whilst Pratt may not have the most refined drawing style his grasp of figure drawing, composition, page design, motion, action etc are second to none. You know how many other great cartoonists he's either influenced directly by teaching or indirectly through studying his comics? I don't understand how you can have three volumes of Chew (I mean, presumably you like the art) and then diss Pratt how you did. No disrespect intended but those two shelves do indicate someone with pretty basic, conservative taste in comics, just sayin'.

>capeshit
>Watchmen
>Akira
t. casual

He is baiting, you fools!

he might not be, the edition he bought is actually literal trash
such a shame

Not that i've found yet. and I totally agree

I really fucking hope so mate
I know that one gets some flack but you can still see his art properly

>the best corto girl
That is actually Soledad Lockhart, or whatever her name was

Heard they were gonna make a new one, did it happen?

Not many screens from the movie, I'm afraid, but there's always the comic's character concept art.

...

I'm tempted every so often to just e-mail IDW and ask them when the release date is

Don't they have a schedule somewhere on their website? Because I bought the first two they released and they're done pretty good so I hope they don't fuck it up.
I might have to buy it and take my own screen caps then.
