Just turn your brain off

That's true, I should have been watching the version without women.

Whatever happened to
>"I like/don't like this thing"
>"I respect your decision, let's just agree to disagree"
Why do people just screech like autists when they're confronted by opinions that they don't agree with
It's getting fucking tiring

where do you think you are?

>Stop watching movies wrong

>go into a movie expecting everything to happen exactly as you thought it would
>throw a hissyfit when the director throws a few curveballs

Ann is right, expectations ruined this perfectly fine space adventure film for millions of """"adults""""

Go back to r*ddit pleb

was this another one of those "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG" or "THIS IS HOW YOU SHOULD FEEL ABOUT THIS" liberal brain-bullying articles aimed at women?

>Go in expecting a good movie, made competently, that shows respect for the base material

>Get a bad movie instead, shot incompetently with about 6 pointless side plots, and slapping the face of anybody that liked the original trilogy.

Whoaahhh what a curveball they really subverted my expectations

She's right. People should just shut the fuck up and like what Disney tells them to like.

>order steak and a bowl of soup
>waiter brings me a turd and a bowl of diarrhea
Really subverted my expectations there

>food analogy
>shit analogy

Welcome to the 2010s, and it looks the 2020's will be even worse at this rate.

This whole "lets blame the fanbase for our terrible product" trend is such bullshit. Imagine going to a popular restaurant and ordering a meal then all the customers get food poisoning, so you complain to the chef, but the chef just calls you a nazi and doubles down on the claim that his food is the best and that all the customers just don't know how to eat.

>expect food analogy
>get shit analogy
EXPECTATIONS SUBVERTED

>Paying 20+ bucks to watch a movie
>OH NO SILLY YOU WATCHED IT ALL WRONG ANYWAY

The sooner the industry crashes and makes these ''commentators'' jobless the better, the beast needs a good starving.

10 thousand years of hyperdrive technology, from Old Republic to the current movie timeline, and no one ever made a hyperdrive equipped torpedo or missile.

Wat. And the best plan is to yell at the male character for not following orders when said orders were to run the fleet out of fuel and THEN do the kamikazi move.... you know what? just fuck it. If I had been educated with Common Core all of this shit would make sense.

>lucasfilm ltd./lucasfilm ltd.

>2000 - ??? maybe 2030 people will wake up

Going to go down as the dark ages of PR and Marketing

It's true that we do have cynically high standards though

>HRMPH! How could Rian fuck this up so much? My theory said nothing about a subplot involving comedy theatrics and heavy handed morals about capatalism!
>Oh my gosh, I am super offended that he just did a hyperspace jump that makes no sense and is dumb in context, my version was much cooler whatever it was!
>Really? They're inserting in a pointless romance between two chemistry-lacking leads who look really uncomfortable? My artwork had none of this at all!
>Titty drinking from a sloth!? I specifically wrote down "Twi-lek!" Don't you know the canon at all!
>NOT training to become better, but just getting better instantly!? This is so offensive to the lore of this obscure book I'm huffing in anger!
>I can't believe they just reset the whole state of the galaxy to A New Hope at the end of the movie! I wanted it done in the middle damn it, that would've been better!
>But they wholesale copied a bunch of stuff from the other movies and holy shit, putting Hoth AFTER Return of the Jedi!? I never saw that coming, that was amazing!
>It was like the other stuff from before but worse in ever regard!

This is the board that still thinks The Room is redeeming, try again.

we really don't

The agenda must be defended at all costs

Opinion is mixed on the prequels. They're not that high.

TLJ was just a bad film unless you have no standards whatsoever

what? no we dont
stop believing every meme you read on Sup Forums

>It's true that we do have cynically high standards though
All we expect is a film that doesn't fall flat on its face. As soon as the FO comes out of hyperspace and begins attacking the Resistance ships we're told that the FO fighters have to pull back because the Supremacy cannot offer them cover at that distance. It is never explained why the FO just doesn't release more fighters and continue to destroy the Resistance fleet.
Then the FO fleet starts to chase the Resistance fleet and never just hyperspace jumps ships in front of them from a different area. Again, no explanation is given for this, they just don't so the plot can keep going.
The entire foundation of the plot of the film doesn't even make any sense. It is not a "cynically high standard" to expect a film to make sense.

...

just hand over your shekels and shut up

Like I’m going to listen to a woman womansplain how to watch a fucking Star Wars movie.

>He didn’t turn his brain off

>pleb
wanna know how i know what website you're from?

No, the mistake was underestimating the audience, who dont appreciate being talked down to or treated like dummys, they are generally intelligent people who respond well to quality entertainment.

What stage are we in? Last damage control i read was "TLJ being pulled early from Chinese theaters is good. It will boost theatre averages!!!"

We passed "TLJ is pulled from all Chinese theaters, but Star Wars doesn't need them anyway"

Soon only registered users with 2 verified viewings on their account will be able to review STAR WARS for the low cost of 4.3 disno-bux, additional fees may apply.

That's what you fags get for opening your mouse

>tfw """expectations""" is now expecting a coherent plot that doesn't insult your intelligence and has internal consistency with its own series

Fuck off. You have nothing to contribute to this discussion but mouse buggery.

even like that it's still terrible

The entire foundation of their ego rests upon their ideas, to attack or disagree with them is to deny them validation, and since they are so shallow even a slight cut sinks in deep.

In the world where people are made out of paper everyone must hold their breath.

someone should do a compilation of all these articles and showcase each author's connection to shandy

forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2018/01/22/box-office-6-reasons-the-last-jedi-grossed-750m-less-than-the-force-awakens/#7e6676ae3432
Scott Mendelsoy in another article explaining away why it underperformed
>H-h-hollywood just flooded the market with family friendly films
>I-I-it’s “harshly topical”

*Disney not shandy, wtf

The thing that gets me is that the hyperdrive ram isn't even consistent with The Force Awakens.

In TFA, Han activates hyperdrive for a split second to get past Starkiller Base's shields. If it worked the way it did in TLJ they would have pancaked.

i sure do love being told I'm wrong for not liking corporate product by the corporate entities that made it.

Also, the First Order are supposedly the "bad guys" so why didn't they think to just hyperspace kamikaze a couple of their ships into the rebels? Surely they wouldn't think twice about sacrificing a few henchmen for a decisive victory?

>In the world where people are made out of paper everyone must hold their breath.

Fucking KOJIMA was right again and I hate it.

>In TFA, Han activates hyperdrive for a split second to get past Starkiller Base's shields. If it worked the way it did in TLJ they would have pancaked.
A wizard did it.

They don't even need to hyperspace ram them, they could've detached a couple of Star Destroyers to jump ahead of them and pincer the Raddus, but at no point does this ever occur to them. But then again these are the people who had to be told explicitly by a random third party to watch for lifeboats and transports that might be trying to escape the last obstacle to their galactic domination.

You not liking thing is hurting the bottom line of the uncomfortably ubiquitous monopolizing multi-billion dollar corporation, and getting in the way of vapid hyperconsumer husks enjoying the comfort of uncontested comformity (who are, hypocritically enough, some of the loudest "socialists/anti-capitalists"). The Last Jedi damage control is a really unfortunate example of the human spirit being so completely broken that it goes full crab-in-the-bucket because it's absolutely terrified of the nuance and uncertainty that comes with dissent against "the way things ought to be." These corporate mouthpiece journos and everyone like them are damaged human beings. Two hours of entertainment every episodic Star Wars release, every Star Wars release period, every Disney/MCU release period, whatever, has come to be a major lynchpin of their hobbies, social (media) interaction, livelihoods, sociopolitical agendas (dae think first order = wypipo???), and generally just the glue holding together their entire identities. It's basically a religion to them and you're blaspheming.

>There are people who have TFA/TLJ tattoos

This is a profound analysis that explains this whole thing perfectly. It boils down to the essence of bugmanity

Even in the strawman you can't make the real thing sound good.

Is that better or worse than the Mark of Shame?

>TORtanic tats
I've never done anything that might incite that level of regret.

>cynically high standards
We liked kung pow. So no, we dont have standards.

I, for one, am glad that Sup Forums celebrates, nay, even encourages, dissenting opinions.

Sup Forums is basically a dissent factory, which is why it’s so hated by normies.
Dissent is important because it exists to poke holes in ideas that are seemingly airtight. So when you poke holes in their “infallible” ideals they get very testy

uhh hur hur hur

>"was it pol that broke Sup Forums?"

Libshits are the ones that cant meme. If you notice, lately Sup Forums posters get triggered easily if you mention women issues, Trump, etc... Tumblr and r/gaylife/ has infiltrated Sup Forums
Creativity lacks in lower IQ Elliot Roger mindsets like that. If you remember, Elliot Rodger was a sjw white knight soyboy that couldnt for the life of him figure out the most basic things, which is why I mention him

>Jumanji
>Minimum 10 times it's opening weekend final gross

>The Greatest Showman
>Minimum 15 times it's opening weekend final gross

>The Last Jedi
>First Star Wars film in history to not gross at least 3 times it's opening weekend

How come audiences know how to watch Jumanji and The Greatest Showman but not The Last Jedi?

Did the ushers provide better instructions on correct viewing techniques for Jumanji and Showman?

Perhaps Disney should have printed pamphlets or conducted a pre-show education event to teach people how to watch Pew Pew Space Adventure 8.

>j*urnalism

>The Empire Strikes Gag

Welcome to modern comics.
Welcome to modern video games.
Welcome to modern card games.
Is the music industry fucked yet? Last I heard, rappers were still calling women “bitches”. Maybe there’s still hope.

The music industry has its own fucked up problems.

You missed the obvious sarcasm. This site enforces its own set of norms.

>Sup Forums loves the prequels and hates TLJ
honestly, opinion on this site is just edgy contrarianism. I get not liking the latest action space wars, but thinking any prequel is worth viewing just shows how broken your brain is

How is one supposed to watch a movie, according to this article?

>Like I’m going to listen to a woman womansplain
Amen brother!

Probably were, Brain Genius
>>muh theories!!!

That's not the opinion of Sup Forums alone, that's a pretty widespread idea. The prequels are bad, but they're not full of nauseating propaganda, completely broken story conventions, or a soul-draining feeling of disillusionment permeating through them.

People who see "politics" in anything should reconsider their life choices.

>that's a pretty widespread idea
>the prequels are good
>they are bad though
so what is it, you fucking idiot? the prequels are garbage.

Where did I say the prequels are good? I just said the idea that they're better than TLJ is not one endemic to /tv. You can find normalfags all over Youtube saying TLJ is worse than them.

Unironically the correct answer.

To speak against the agenda is to speak against the 'right side of history', no matter how obviously backward, monolithic, or hypocritcally crafted the material being spoken against is.

Make no mistake this is not just a religion but a fundementalist religion where deviation in virtually any way from the constantly shifting rules cannot be tolerated.

I really dont understand the world at all anymore.
It seems everyone are completely and utterly out of their fucking minds.

The defence arguments just get more and more pathetic.

Of courshe. But there's not an "accepted general opinion" in any way whatsoever, since everyone loves to be a contrarian, it's what makes Sup Forums so """great"""" and why we immediately identify Reddit's circlejerk culture.

>1 porg point has been deposited into your account

Narcissism. People take a differing opinion as a personal attack on them.

yeah lucky the tpm don't have any nauseating pro-
>totally evil, spineless bug-eyed bureaucratic, imperialist capitalists blockade and invade Naboo
oh ok, well at least it doesn't have any completely broken story conv-
>the movie relies very heavily on exposition to push us through an overly complicated plot with many irrelevant sections hastily edited together
oh, well at least there's no soul-draining feeling of disillusion-
>movie is so disappointing it turns away practically all viewers, fans and critics in droves, all so that Lucas can include Jar Jar and 'state of the art' cgi special effects

whatever if you like it, but don't go thinking that tpm or any of the prequels are actually good or in some way better than the disney/original trilogies

How hard do you faggots look to find these no name reviewers employed by no name companies

Except there are good curve balls and bad ones. TLJ was the latter.

You're right, I was going into this movie expecting it to be good and it threw a curveball at me by being shit instead.

You haven't been on Reddit lately I'll wager.

>beloved franchise banking on nostalgia
>nominal box office success but heavy fan backlash
>toys/other merchandise flop
>shills blame "toxic masculinity"/something something Trump
Where have I heard this before?

Generic political strawmen are different than on the nose allegorical references to contemporary politics. One is lazy writing, the other is propaganda.

The storytelling conventions of the prequels are a mess, but they don't utterly shatter the audiences sense of the fourth wall in how utterly and completely irrelevant they are. The prequels miss their mark, TLJ purposefully shoots in the opposite direction.

And that carries over to the feeling of disillusionment as well. A shitty movie is an accident of bad circumstances killing interest and love. TLJ actively courted this with it's overlying message of iconoclastic destruction of anything traditional, conventional, revered, or established. It destroyed its own consistencies, characterizations, and conventions on purpose through an act of progressive-induced celebratory self-destruction. It takes pride in cannibalizing its previous foundations, which is one of the reasons so many people had such a visceral and instinctive reaction of disgust and hatred for it.

The prequels aren't good, but they're better than TLJ in that they aren't actively and knowingly attempting to self-immolate. And that's not a controversial opinion. Again, you can find Youtubers saying TLJ is the worst SW movie they've ever seen all over the place.

I liked Speed Racer and Judge Dredd

Sup Forums is one lonely autist

And what the fuck are you going to do about it, faggot? If humanity has chosen this to be the way things are going to be, you can do NOTHING about it.

Judge Dredd unironically has a much more charming and immersive universe than Dredd did despite Urban being much better in the role.
