imdb is a popularity contest rigged by Nolan Fans. Ever wondered why Shawshank is on top? Nolan Fans tried to upvote TDK and ruined the rating.

shawshank is a fine choice for #1 and i wouldn't argue it. i don't think i'd argue godfather 1 or 2 either. swap dark knight for rises because baneposting is objectively the best thing this board has ever done. 12 angry men, haven't seen, torrenting now to get an opinion. schindler's is fine, it's both pro- and anti-pol, so it deserves a spot. pulp fiction isn't really better than the sum of its parts, kill bill is better but i don't think any of tarantino should be here. best LOTR imo is the extended cut of 2 towers, has by far the most emotional resonance, swap rotk with that (which substituted cgi for emotion too often). GBU is just a great movie, no complains. fight club is forgettable. no arguments with fellowship. forrest gump has a degree of both simplicity and heart that really makes it succeed, i have no issues with it there. ESB i think is slightly inferior to ANH merely by the virtue that ANH did it first, and ANH change the genre like few others. inception is entertaining but not even nolan's best (that goes to the prestige, which i would put on this list). TT already mentioned. haven't seen cuckoos nest. goodfellas is entertaining but i dont know if its great. same for the matrix. haven't seen seven samurai. same comment as before for ESB. city of god is great kino, love that pick. same for seven. silence of the lambs is interesting because so much of the appeal is lector, but he's only on screen for 20 minutes, it feels like wasted opportunity rather than greatness. wonderful life is....eh, nostalgic, i guess. life is beautiful is really moving, like that pick.
suggested substitutes: lawrence of arabia, alien, the thin red line, amadeus, the fountain, the big lebowski, raiders of the lost ark, dr. no, la confidential, layer cake, snatch, grand budapest hotel, babel, pan's labrynth, 3:10 to yuma, and spaceballs

12 Angry Men is must watch
Evan Ward
Polanski should be; >Rosemary's Baby >& Chinatown instead of Schindler's list
Tokyo Story should be on there as well & Psycho & Texas Chainsaw Massacre & if there's going to be any action/ adventure blockbusters it should be Mad Max 2
Thomas Price
>haven't seen 12 angry men >one flew over the cuckoos nest >seven samurai
user... step it the fuck
Elijah Gutierrez
I agree with Psycho and Rosemary's Baby. Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Mad Max 2 aren't that good
Ian Stewart
Fury Road is better than Road Warrior, dont be a contrarian
Leo Reed
IMO, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is THE definitive/best horror film, if you discount The Shining & Rosemary's Baby as psychological thrillers.
Caleb Nelson
Mad Max 1 is the contrarian position (that i'm actually inclined towards). Road Warrior is the objectively correct position held by everyone that had seen Mad Max films before Fury Road. Fury Road is the newfag position. Thunderdome is the meme position.
Mad Max= Mel Gibson. He's 100x more interesting in 1 & 2, than anyone in Fury Road.
Fury Road is a flick. One of the best flicks ever, but a flick nonetheless.
Anthony Martin
BR2049 is quintessential reddit neocinebuff fare, and it's a laughingstock to have it on the list instead of BR, which is not even a lock on any top 25 list.
FR is a glorified stunt demo with stupid, cliched characters and basically nothing but stunts. Cameron does stunts in the context of an actual movie with decent characters (sometimes), so there should be Cameron films, not video game-tier stunt fests.
Zachary Hall
TDKR must be 1st, no matter what, swap with avatar to add >Revange of the Sith - almost all the time it's brought/memed >American Psycho, for dubs >No Country for Old Men, anton threads needs some mel gibson movies
Henry James
Return of the king should not be on there at all, the scenes with the ghost army and legolas are too goofy. Remove forest gump as well, jenny is a whore and it discusts me. Instead of goodfellas i prefer A bronx tale. I suggest adding Last of the mohicans and Goonies Remove Avatar or ill kill you

empire strikes back and pulp fiction is shitty reddit core. move american psycho up and avatar, shawshank, and raiders down/out of the list
Ryder Wood
Every star wars ranking I've seen on here has put esb first
Agree on RotK, Forest Gump, and Avatar. Goonies didn't age well, though
Brandon Brooks
>avatar, shawshank, and raiders down/out of the list i agree with this but >empire strikes back Is still great whether reddit likes it or not dude I still say avatar sucks ass and goodfellas is overrated. A bronx tale is far better
Juan Diaz

seriously, how many people here have seen 1957 12 Angry Men? That list is terrible, this might be an impossible task.

I would say more than 60% of the board has seen that movie you child
Julian Reed
>empire strikes back and pulp fiction is shitty reddit core Star Wars has gotten more discussion on here in the last 5 years than any franchise ever. Like it or not, It is quintissential Sup Forums-core. Would you prefer nu-wars on the list? Because it has to be one of them.
>glaring ommissions Ozu (Tokyo Story) Ingmar Bergman (The Virgin Spring) Herzog (Fitzcarraldo) Woody Allen (Annie Hall) Wes Anderson (Grand Budapest) Lost in Translation Miyazaki (Mononoke) Polanski (Rosemary's Baby & Chinatown)

John Roberts
A Bronx Tale is just the movie version of that picture of De Niro and his black kids with afros
Jace Mitchell

remove: Lord of the rings (all of them) Star Wars

You seriously overestimate Sup Forums, it's probably more like 10% of people that have seen it. You'd end up with a list worse than reddit or imdb if you had to put films Sup Forums had seen though.
Colton Scott
"no" Fellowship is amazing and only an edge lord would say otherwise. same goes for ep 4 and 5

i literally said the first 20 minutes is the only decent part, which is what you posted a clip from. after the kid grows up the movie is fucking garbage.

This is fucking stupid and the actual end result list would end up being 25 films no one's ever heard of 15 of them won't even be in English and everyone will jerk off about how much amazing taste they have over the unwashed masses.

I vote Vanilla Sky. EWS is just meme of the week because it's on Netflix this month
Why don't you make a poal poll? It's easier, faster and it's harder to commit proxy faggotry on it.

polls are bad, people re-vote it last time in 2017 movie woting 1 guy push Spiderman Homecoming into top by voting it 30 times
