Obscure, Discontinued, or Slow-Updating Webcomics

Hello Sup Forums, I thought I'd list a few webcomics that I don't think I see often being discussed around here. As I said in the subject, a lot of these are discontinued because, if nothing, I want you to hurt as much as I do. Also, feel free to post any similarly-obscure webcomics of your own. The first is Verloren Hoop. mr-culexus.deviantart.com/gallery/12423238/Verloren-Hoop

Next up is 'Demon's Mirror'. tapas.io/episode/66199

Followed by an additional story coming after Demon's Mirror, by the same artist, called 'A Better Place'. tapas.io/episode/87972

Daily reminder that the Emperor was cunt.

Here's one I'm confident most haven't seen, and it's as good as it is dead as a doornail. 'Uncreation' by the artist Noontide. uncreation.comicdish.com/index.php?pageID=1

Platinum Grit is one of my favourite webcomics that I've ever read. Honestly, I thought maybe I just liked it because I first read it at an overly impressionable age but I've gone back several times and the writing is incredibly tight: it's still really funny, the characters have great and clear voices, the conversations flow incredibly well.

I was so into this comic and where it was going - it's one of the only webcomics I can think of that successfully shifted from a primarily gag set-up into something still comedic but also successfully dramatic and engaging - and bam, over.

Trudy Cooper is now way more famous for Oglaf than she ever was for this, which is fine. I like Oglaf. But if you like Oglaf and haven't read PG, you need to understand Oglaf is like shit you scrape off your shoe in comparison.

For a change in tone, there's 'Love Me Nice'. It's 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' but focusing on the slice-of-life of being a cartoon. lovemenicecomic.com/comic/001.php

A mons-styled comic that's generally light-hearted, but not afraid to get rather dark, 'Monsterpulse'. monster-pulse.com/comic/monster-pulse

I'm an idiot. I forgot my picture.

An interesting story with a terribly tsundere secondary main character, 'Chapel Also Ran'.

I'm actually a little reluctant to post 'Pandemonium-Wizard Village' because it's pace is slower than 'Paranatural', without the excuse of exploding wrists, but there are enough waifus in it for everyone. hi6sho.deviantart.com/gallery/54200336/pandemonium-wizard-village-chapter1

guess who's an idiot?

And 'Dragon's Burn' in which you'll for the dragon chick and stay for the highly entertaining character interaction.

Action Hospital. It explored how healthcare would work in a world where superpowers, magic and superheros existed. It was quite enjoyable, and I wish it was still going

hero by night was a pretty stock standard super hero story. it was a webcomic. both of those statements are facts

MY GUY
MY BROTHER

I don't wanna say that it was bad, it's not. I liked it at the time, it's just that it didn't really stick in my memory.

I thought that this was Dan Hipp for a second.

'Awful Hospital' is rather more mainstream, but it's fantastic, anyways. bogleech.com/awfulhospital/001.html

this cannot be coincidence

Oh yeah, I remember that. There was a thread about this one on my first day as a newfag. It's got some interesting character designs, too.

I know, right? But it was one of the first webcomics I ever read. I remember the bit when the ring stopped his heart, when he took it off, and then some other stuff happened and it was gone. But it still holds that small, precious place in my heart.

Wow, I can already tell they're a huge Berserk fan.

>it was one of the first webcomics I ever read

Me too! we're probably around the same age. given the age of it. I wouldn't be suprised if it hadn't aged better than most of the other webcomics i had read at the time. at the very least it's probably more coherent than Sluggy Freelance

23 posts and no mention of would-be space-elf porn comic Outsider yet. Amazing what posting new pages can do to the community mindset.

Oh wait, it's updated again! - that's an entire 10 pages this year now!

You have no idea. Apparently, he doesn't like the comparison, but, really, can you blame them?

I'm tipsy, but I meant to write > If it *had* aged better

'Travelogue' is basically a gentle, journal-style webcomic, but it's quite charming.

Did you ever read 'Purgatory Tower'? Now THAT is one dead comic.

>'Purgatory Tower

nope. Looking it up now.

>Now THAT is one dead

last update may 2008. oh yeah it's dead.

it hurts just ended. It was genuinely great and I'm glad i was able to see it reach a conclusion.

Yeah. I want to make my own comic, but my imagination is so out there, I'd have to go to an art school in order to do it justice- that, and some of the things you see on businessman's acid are really hard to reconstruct.

What did you think of the ending? I loved the comic, but the ending made me feel outrage, like, if that's honestly, 100%-guaranteed what the world was like... it'd be better to just get rid of it, I felt. What's the point of anything if it's all just entropy and harmony discharging agonized universes into existence?

Go for it, my dude! I'm working to get good enough to make my own comic, but it'll be years before I get anywhere! Nevertheless, I'm still hacking away at it. I'm garbage now, but maybe one day I won't be?

seconding these two.

I'm also going to recommend A Miracle of Science project-apollo.net/mos/

The art is... acceptable... but the story is bretty great. Hard sci-fi story, detective trying to track down a mad scientist, Martians with nanomachines... is good.

> if that's honestly, 100%-guaranteed what the world was like... it'd be better to just get rid of it, I felt

I came to the exact opposite conclusion. for two reasons firstly, They went to hell, and it was fine. things are never as bad as you can imagine they can be.

secondly because they characters had a real arc and improved themselves despite their individual traumas. Pasqualo matured and helped untold billions of civilizations throughout his life, It's tempered by the horrible stuff, but it goes to show that things will never be perfect but that a better world is always possible

See, now that it's done, K6BD has filled the whole 'weird character designs and interesting waifus' niche for me. It's ironic, because I started reading Paranatural around the same time, so I was able to watch Abbadon's gradual improvement into a Abrahamic/Buddhist version of Martin Handford, as well as Zack's slow descent into a lighter version of Aaron Diaz.

> things are never as bad as you can imagine they can be.
Alright, that's fair. I get what you're saying.

This comic is 'Apothecia'. A girl discovers a galaxy-terrorizing slime monster has landed on earth. Very good, AND it's finished.

>Start reading it
>See this shit
The picture is from the long dream Junji Ito story, isn't it?

I'll give it a look man, thanks for the recommendation

Look, it's about universal cancers and reality-eating monstrosities. I'd read it even if it were in braille.

Don't get me wrong I'm loving what I'm reading, I just thought that was a neat thing. Are there things like that sprinkled throughout?

Things like the blood stain? Yes, constantly. Things like the spoilery image I posted? Not quite. Those are saved for the right moments.

'Handplates' is a superb Undertale fan comic with the premise that Dr. Gaster created Sans and Papyrus and relentlessly experiments on them. zarla-s.tumblr.com/post/139516306171/okay-i-get-a-lot-of-questions-about-what-order-the

Next up is 'A Tale of Two Rulers' which basically depicts what it would be like if Zelda and Ganon married in order to end their nations' hostilities. Great art and brilliantly executed. figmentforms.tumblr.com/post/139806271367/a-tale-of-two-rulers-archive-post

>Love Me Nice

I like that webcomic too bad it's been on hiatus for so long.

Cool thread OP.
Thanks for sharing.

Another obscure comic BUT it's ongoing! (Though for how long is anyones guess. It's slow to update). It basically details a Deprived Run through Dark Souls 3. endrianmanga.tumblr.com/post/148409196138/deprived-a-dark-souls-story-prologue-chapter

Just read through all of this, and it's really good. Reminds me of It Hurts!! sometimes.

My pleasure, user.

This I'm sure most of you know. It's 'The Abominable Charles Christopher', wherein the main character is a kind of sasquatch in the days of Gilgamesh and Enkidu (-ish). It's "mainstream", but it never updates, so it's viable. abominable.cc/post/44164796353/episode-one

I've not read 'Powernap' in a long time, but it's about a world where no one needs to sleep, except for one poor man who's allergic to the anti-sleep medicine. powernapcomic.com/d/20110617.html

(As a longtime lurker, I am finding these recaptcha protocols hell on my soul).

I didn't understand the ending at first, I thought that Pasqualo had just rebirthed himself a girl.
Once I figured it out the comic lived up to it's name once again though.

And last-off is an oldy-but-goldy: 'Dead Winter', a zombie apocalypse story with a highly endearing cast, and a plot that's more focused on human relationships and interaction than the zombies. Maybe you don't like zombie stories, but at least there's no Dale Horvath here. deadwinter.cc/page/1

That'll be all for me, everyone. If anyone has any more recommendations they're welcome to them, but I'm off to bed. Take care.

There's a whole storytime of Uncreation on Imgur.

imgur.com/gallery/GaUKt

this is probably the best fan comic i've ever read. It's still continuing too. thanks

I enjoy 'It's a hard life'; it's based on a pokemon nuzlocke run, hand-painted and somewhat dramatic. I thought it was dead but when looking for a nice page I discovered the author is back on it
