meh

Not sure why. They are just better.

this movie would have been good if the main coward actor was replaced with chris o'dowd

I loved this film.

It was okay, maybe a 6/10

The focus is on the horror not the perverse lust for blood and gore.

It's almost a carbon copy of Blair Witch Project. As usual nothing original from the Brits, they just copy whatever comes out of Hollywood... years later and with a blacked cast

weren't these both directed by americans though?

Who were all them little mummy fellas?

>Blair Witch Project
>60k budget
>independent production
>hollywood

Meh yourself faggot
We need more werewolf movies

>it's another horror is a metaphor for grief/anxiety/depression episode
Yawn. I've seen this film a million times before.

When is there actually going to be a good horror film released this decade? And I don't mean tryhard horror like The Witch

Presumably earlier villagers that were still being kept alive by the Jotun, they seemed to be chanting and worshipping him still but couldn't move anymore.

The current villagers seemed to be from the mid 19th and early 20th centuries, but the worship in the forest probably stretches back over a thousand years.

Did you even watch the movie? There was an actual monster you dumb cunt

ugly brits

The Ritual in particular dealt with masculine fears.
>weakness in numbers
>guilt over cowardice overwhelming reality
>Dom’s injury (which by the end of the film feels genuine and not faked); appearing weak in front of others.
I really liked this film, some of the weaknesses performance wise were more glaring on the second viewing, but it’s truly enthralling.

are you retarded?

Where'd they get all those nuggets and 54r? Wasn't the blonde woman the one from the 1984 tent?

literally this, it was maybe slightly above average.

take that back

>>Sup Forums

>the most handsome brit is a paki
of course

The gun Rafe Spall had at the end was a Kar-98K not a nugget, we can assume some Wehrmacht ran afoul of the Jotun. That would make an interesting prequel actually.

>implying the main character didn't go there by himself
>implying his friends weren't just representations of his irrational guilt complex
>implying them dying and him surviving the woods wasn't supposed to be a metaphor for forgiving himself
It was all a metaphor bro. In fact, if you truly believe there was a real monster it actually makes the whole film worse

1>3>2>4
If you wanna get gay like that

>good visuals
>shit horror
>shit characters
>shit dead friend guilt story
So it was mostly shit

>carbon copy
>there actually is a Lovecraftian supernatural horror that is confronted, a monster and worshippers to explain what is going on
>as opposed to college kids consumed by their own inability to successfully camp
>carbon copy
Plagiarism is a-ok with me if you show the "original author" what he should have originally done.

Is the cast diverse enough for this film to be eligible for a BAFTA?

>implying the beginning actually happened
>implying it wasn't some office workers fever dream of an excuse to go out innawoods

Brainlet detected

im gonna bet that the guy on the right dies first, guy on the left, second, back guy survives till the end but then dies, the middle dood lives

Yes but not diverse enough to trigger thinskinned Sup Forums caucasoids to post about it.

They had a big stack of 20 rifles

>if you wanna get gay like that
you know i do. nothing is hotter then watching straight men have sex with other straight men

Anyone got a pic of the monster to share?

does anybody know the name of this movie i watched with some years ago

it was like a horror comedy or satire of like slashers or something i cant quite recall it. came out sometime between 2012-2014, i tried google but couldn't find it

Just watch it. I guarantee you'll enjoy it more than spending 2 hours on Sup Forums

what makes the english so much better at comedy than americans?

youtube.com/watch?v=DYcVtCV6qI4&t=9s

Wow, twenty? That's almost but not quite enough for one guy to go shooting in the only casino-hotel in Vegas where they absolutely will not open your bags or ask intrusive security questions.

Either way you want to look at it, the events didn't actually happen. Its not reality. If you take things literally then the main character wouldve probably just killed himself at any point in the film as it was all his fault they were there in the first place.

The film was obviously supppsed to be a metaphor for him confronting his demons if you can't see that ur the brainlet

It's either Behind the Mask, Tucker and Dale vs Evil or The Final Girls

lack of sunshine

I actually enjoy brainlets trying to discuss the film on Sup Forums more than the film itself. It was pretty boring

>the main character wouldve probably just killed himself at any point in the film
Stop projecting your weakness unto others.

>It was pretty boring
What was boring about it?

Is it still on netflix in the UK?

not even close, my boy Gendry is about a mile ahead of everyone else. The paki and other guy are second, fatty is last

The characters, the story, and when I saw where it was going, the horror

Watched this on a whim because Netflix had done decent horror with Gerald's Game and 1922 but I thought this was trash. It was just dumb lads getting cold and crying in the woods because they made bad choices until they're gored offscreen by the goofy elk muppet

>The film was obviously supppsed to be a metaphor for him confronting his demons if you can't see that ur the brainlet

He was actually confronting his demons, there's no reason to think it was metaphorical

>there's no reason to think it was metaphorical
Nobody can be this retarded

Yeah this was pretty obvious. The whole navigating the convenience store nightmare over and over again until he finally "escapes" was pretty simple to pick up on.

The fact that they actually showed this village and the demon thing makes me wonder if there's another layer to it that I didn't pick up on though.

that flick was so fucking garbage. Main actor is terrible. Supporting actors are worse than terrible, with the exception of the glasses guy.

If you at any point felt suspense during this, you might be emotionally retarded.

Give us some reasons it was metaphorical then you literal genius

>dude it was an allegory lmao
>no it’s a monster movie with subtext
>Hurf
>derf
Imagine being either of these fucking morons

It was the monster playing tricks on him. Why do you think that dudes wife showed up out of nowhere?

>we will never be able to enjoy a movie again without these pseudo-intellectuals looking for layers in it

Is this a new Netflix movie or something?

>lovecraftian

Well for one, evil spirit monsters don't exist dummy

To make it eligible for a BAFTA

What was Godzilla a metaphor for?
After all giant radioactive iguanas dont exist.

It’s a remake of a Canadian film, though.

The destructive side of nature

Are you sure? Seems like it’s based on a novel by a brit horror writer

I think one of the producers is the novel's author

>my boy Gendry
Are you faceblind? The actor's not even in this film

>first half, super into it, spooked and engaged
>second half, don't give a fuck, bored, not scared at all

why is it so hard for horror movies to stay scary through the end?

>It's either Behind the Mask, Tucker and Dale vs Evil or The Final Girls
No but I forgot to mention they were British or atleast had that same accent so maybe Aussie

>the monster takes the form of whatever it perceives to be your greatest weakness
>it chooses people based on the amount of pain they have inside them
>the monsters "followers" are also marked and cursed to stay in the woods forever worshiping it
>you can only escape the monster by leaving the forest since it can't leave
>the monster, the followers and the forest all represent people in grief, unable to move on and leave their perceived struggles behind, choosing instead to remain in the forest trapped under the power of the monster and it's deceptions
>the main character triumphantly makes it out of the forest and shouts at the monster, signaling that he's left all that behind

Also, monsters aren't real, retard. They're usually used as a metaphor for something else unless its just schlock

I'm guessing you prefer the suspense to the payoff user. Would recommend this film

>Also, monsters aren't real, retard. They're usually used as a metaphor for something else unless its just schlock

Please stop. I can only handle so much stupid. Godzilla is one of the worst examples of a monster without a metaphor you could've possibly come up with

Thanks user. Kill List is one of my favorite movies.

good film but its a horror comedy, very different genre and tone to it

>It's almost a carbon copy of Blair Witch Project. As usual nothing original from the Brits, they just copy whatever comes out of Hollywood... years later and with a blacked cast

literally the opposite

Few films have left me so unsettled. I still don't get what the film was about. I read it was all a ritual to bring on the antichrist but that might just be fan fiction.

bus turds is funnier 2bh. It sounds like something somebody would actually say, not a fairy spell from Harry Potter

>I don't understand basic film theory
>I also don't understand basic etymology of monsters and myths
How stupid can you be

I've read some interesting takes here and there, the one that always stuck with me was that the film was a surreal, extended metaphor for military service.

It's just a monster you stupid faggot nerds

>Just schlock
You shut your fucking whore mouth when you're talking about my favourite genre

>It sounds like something somebody would actually say
>bus turds is funnier 2bh

Imagine being such a brainlet you add stupid metaphors to everything to try and look smart.

What makes the English so much better at music than Americans?

>the monster takes the form of whatever it perceives to be your greatest weakness
I guess? Why did Phil start worshipping chicken legs then? Why the fuck trick Dom into seeing Gayle and then just scare him as a monster anyways? The idea that the film is an analogy for guilt top to bottom is flawed.

You understand that this beginner’s analysis (as if the first fucking scene in the film doesn’t spell out the guilt in Luke’s life) doesn’t extricate the film from being about a big fucking monster and a bunch of creepy hillbillies, right?

Why do people try to force films to be more fulfilling instead of just living well enough to enjoy and analyze things rationally?

I was agreeing with you. Monsters are way scarier and thus make for better horror films than "it's all in yur brain dood"

We've seen our land polluted by shitskinned subhumans.

>>there actually is a Lovecraftian supernatural horror that is confronted, a monster and worshippers to explain what is going on
>show the "original author" what he should have originally done.
fuck off, retard

American accents make everything cheesy

Dadrock faggots are the niggers of music appreciation

I figured out the "mysterious connexion" between the guilt/pain and the monster when it marked Luke's shit like Tina Fey's chin so that it could find him later.

>The most recent Census in 2011 highlights that in England and Wales, 80 per cent of the population were white British. Asian (Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, other) 'groups' made up 6.8 per cent of the population; black groups 3.4 per cent; Chinese groups 0.7 cent,Arab groups 0.4 per cent and other groups 0.6 per cent.
HAHAHAHAHAHA

My whole argument was that I said I was tired of horror films being metaphors for depression/grief and some idiot said i was wrong because "there was a real monster" in it

How does that make me the stupid one? Im making the most surface level points here and its making people upset. It's not even that hard to see

Yup. My bad

Those stats sound flawed, how does it count immigrant Uighers?

>uses the term dadrock

how is it being a 14 year old teenager these days?

His grief is a subplot at best dumbass

He still beat it at the end, the same way niggers beat Jigsaw in those Saw shits. Doesn't mean there wasn't a Jigsaw. Doesn't mean there wasn't guilt or pain

Led Zeppelin's entire discography is literally built on the plagiarism of American music

There is no such thing as English music. Doesn't exist. Every song every Englishman has ever composed is an imitation of hip hop, rock, R&B, blues--black American music.

No English musician in the history of popular music has ever had an idea for a song that wasn't done first by an American
