Will the long break in between seasons hurt the show?

depends if S2 is better No, if its the same shit no one will care anymore.

>long break
I thought they got cancelled. Why do americans do this? Is because the producers are gauging the audience interest and doesn't want to film a bajillion episodes per season?

unironically surprised it got a second season, i'm expecting a tiny budget for the second

>one of the most viewed shows on Fox
>cancelled
Why would you think that.

it only got a second season because macfarlane has credits in the bank

This half-season/baby-season with long breaks meme needs to end.
>inb4 but we can make higher quality if we do fewer episodes
This hasn't been true for a long time, if ever. When it takes 7-8 years to do 5 seasons with a ripoff episode count then it's getting out of control. I liked The Orville but nothing in it indicates it's benefiting from a lower episode count. They've all just gotten lazy. If you can't make full seasons then you don't have something that needs to be an ongoing TV series.

will adding this beauty as a regular member of season two hurt the show?

You are right. One point must be made thou. Half seasons are a result of bad ratings or lack of trust. I hope the latter applies here as this show is quite decent. I see a lot of lost joke potential thou

Fox has a tendency and historical record of axing good and watched series's on a whim.

half seasons are actually common on networks these days. they're starting to copy cable with the shorter seasons.

We know that. It's just that it's not a good trend because it's mostly not justified. Most of these shows are not a higher quality or benefited in any way. If anything they make themselves more prone to cancellation because people lose interest during the nearly yearlong (in some cases more) wait. Just make real seasons again for regular shows. I'll take a couple of filler episodes or duds. Shit, we still seem to get that with the baby seasons.

Years ago I was one of the ones pushing the "they should follow the UK example of short seasons instead of 22 with filler" but that's gone to shit. The 10-13 episodes seasons are still the same quality as the full 22. I wonder if this is their way of going against the "peak TV" theory. Although by the time the Orville is back in September/October, it'll have been 10 months since the last episode aired. Timeless was something I was watching last season, and by the time the new season starts up it'll have been 13 months or so since the last episode aired.

Doesn't it always?

After moving them to Friday at 7pm for a month.

>Sup Forums hates quips
>loves a show that revolves around quips

what did Sup Forums mean by this?

I miss Alara!

deadline.com/2018/02/the-orville-jessica-szohr-cast-series-regular-season-2-fox-series-1202284734/

You ever notice Jillian Janson looks just like her?

who?

Porn actress

>le 56% face

what?

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

i looked it up and she does a lot of IR

that doesn't seem like Alara

The short season hurt the show although it appears they're only willing to shoot 12 per season. Alara leaving the show will also hurt it as her waifufags will never shut the fuck up about it when it happens.

...

I really like Seth's taste in women.

I am still amazed that Fringe managed to survive all the curve-balls Fox threw at them.

Why is Alara leaving?

she isn't

Keep telling yourself that. She's going to bail for a career in movies just like Denise Crosby attempted to do.

ok

She's still banging Seth though, what's the point of banging your boss if you're walking away?

Seth can't keep a woman, she'll just be the latest to leave him for something better.

Probably. Ratings were already pretty shitty so a year long break certainly doesn’t help. I watched every episode the day it aired and I honestly forgot about the show until you reminded me with this thread. Season 2 when?

the show is surprising good

>Ratings were already pretty shitty so a year long break certainly doesn’t help
nigger you what? ratings were great

Wasn't her last boyfriend of a different species?

Were they? Cool my mistake

Just don't engage him, he's switching tactics.

It doesn't mean they did anything.

Alara is pure!

How long until Taylor Swift guest stars as a Xeleyan friend of Alara's who used to bully her but learns to respect her?

...

Or I was just genuinely misled by “critic” reviews trashing it or the general lack of discussion outside of maybe 1 or 2 threads

worst TV show I've ever seen. I can't think of a worse one I've watched for any reasonable amount of time.

>Sup Forums is one person
Orville sucks balls and id never waste time on modern broadcast tv

I love this show, it's friggin cool.

...

Are there any lesbians in the show?

Critics fucking hate Seth for some reason, sure Ted 2 was pretty dire but he's produced some consistently decent stuff that gets demolished and some great stuff that gets panned while lesser "talents" get praise.
I think its because he survived 9/11 and they resent him for it.

>Why do americans do this?
the Orville is shit, nobody likes Seth MacFarlane

Still better than STD

true

Family guy seasons 1-3 are unironically great

Serious question; can she act?

I think he found his knack with this though. Fucker's watched so much tv and old star trek he can recreate it's comfort level pretty effortlessly.

He's still the worst character on his own show but it's probably his baby so who would take that away from him.

of course

>On November 2, 2017, Fox renewed the series for a second season,[8] which is expected to premiere late in the 2018–19 season.[9]
Man, that's some BBC-grade delay.

>nobody likes Seth MacFarlane
yet has 3 shows on air

Reminder that she's being killed off and replaced in S2 because apparently behind the scenes drama issues between the actress and the rest of the cast.

>The Orville is shit
Fake news, it's fucking great
>Nobody likes Seth
Yeah I'll give you that one

one year is pretty normal

that's changed apparently

Explain

Nigga, MacFarlane is literally banging her
archive.fo/V3sJP

Did you read that in People magazine?

I buy it. Slap some make up on her and she can do Alara cosplay porn.

I miss /orville/

If you're going to type nigger at least commit to it

How can the guy who played Cutty and Tyrone be such a bitch?

Yes. It almost always does. I don't get why people can't produce 22+ episode seasons every year anymore. Lazy fucks.

All of his acting is in the eyes. He's perfect for it.

Anna Torv is Rupert Murdoch's niece or something. Most likely had something to do with it. Great fucking show. Based John Noble made the show.
