The true hero of Black Sails

I'm just entering the fourth and final season. Does it hold up until the end?

Great show so far. Don't know why I missed it.

Rundown? Don't know anything about it

Treasure Island prequel that started out as a decent enough GoT knock-off with pirates then accidentally became one of the best shows of all time.

Isn't the main character a faggot? Was going to watch been saw clips he is a queer. I know it ends with him kissing some dude on a beach. Couldn't take the show seriously after that. Sounds like sjw forced shit all throughout

You sound like a faggot. The Wire had homos and it was the best show of all time.

There are literally two gay kiss scenes across 4 seasons.
Flint is probably the best gay character in all TV, making him straight would fundamentally change the entire character

It's shit.

Agree. It really grows.
Yes, he's a faggot. But the faggotry is kept to a minimum and it doesn't define his character. Captain Flint is a badass even though his mental torment and battle with conscience gets a little boring sometimes.

Legitimately one of my favourite shows ever. Was heartbroken when it ended, meant no more pirate kino :(

>tfw love Treasure Island
>tfw love anything nautical themed, especially period and colonial-era, films/books etc.
>tfw love pirates/piracy as a setting/theme in general
Season 4 is every kind of based user, one of the best season finales of any recently produced show. It had no right to be anything like as good as it turned out to be.

OP here. The only thing I really find it lacking is a great villain.

You haven't seen S4 Woodes Rogers yet

Butt Pirate is one of these underated pearls, like Spartacus. From far away it just seems like tits and fight, you start watching it with your hand on your semi flaccid cock and you end up realizing you've been fucking caught by the show and root for its characters.

Really missed not having new episodes of Black Sails this January.

One of the best shows I've watched, No idea why Sup Forums doesn't talk about it more.
Only heard about it when Billy Bones was in GoT and everyone here pointed it out.

>No idea why Sup Forums doesn't talk about it more.
Because it dared to have a gay character and any discussion on this shit board gets totally derailed

Looking forward to it then!

>it turns out Sup Forums likes something you like
Feels pretty good

There were weekly threads about it. We don't need shitty circlejerk generals to appreciate something.

This. Turned into a fucking soap opera.

i fucking caught you penguinz0 you fucking fag

I don't even know what you're refering to.

It has too much of a happy ending for my tastes, and there should have been more forshadowing to some events in the final season. Aside from that I loved it.

It got heavy on the exposition and betrayals became a running theme. but was still a good binge.

One of the best series in recent memory.

Best opening theme.

>it doesn't define his character.
Did you watch the same show? I was prescribed into the movement by gayboy wiles. His entire motivation is to carry on the dream of his thought to be dead boyfriend. He abandons his cause when imprisoned with thought-to-be dead boyfriend.

Flint bad ass and he did bad ass things, but his motivation was entirely inspired by fudgepacking.

First series was pretty average. Second and third were fucking fantastic, fourth was good but not great.

I watched it every single episode.

One of the best ways to identify whether or not someone is a closeted homosexual. Imagine a movie about let's say Superman, where midway through the film he just decides to have anal sex with another man and passionately make out with him, then the movie goes back to being a regular Superman flick, but you start to notice there's a lot of dudes without their shirts on for some reason. That's Black Sails.

I think he just meant the sexual aspect of his character wasn't what defined him. He never mentioned it besides the time he told Silver, and there were no gay sex scenes.
But yeah I agree, him being gay and the way England treated him because of it was the entire motivation for his character. Taking it away would ruin him.

The only thing I didn't really like was Long John Silver, to me he was never a hero, just a bit of a snake, I was always Team Flint.

It's just jews trying to fuck with classic white stories. There's a lot of degeneracy and race mixing, but it's a pretty decent story. Redpilled about woman's nature tho. Bitches always out for men's approval

They're all villains, user. That's the point. They're all horrible people in the end.

The lady who played Rogers' assistant in the final series is actually Flint's real life wife.

thanks for the spoiler

vane did literally nothing wrong

The gay character was unnecessary. Men can have close relationships without being butt buddies. It was just shoehorning in some jewish bullshit into a classic story

Flint was shot by Silver. The plantation scene was heaven

I was expecting him to be just that based on his character in Treasure Island.

>Men can have close relationships without being butt buddies.
Yeah like the one between Flint and Silver, literally the main pair in the entire show.
Besides, Flint's entire motivation came from his backstory, I'd like to see you come up with another backstory that would have the same level of impact.

>Taking it away would ruin him.
Men don't need to be butt buddies to go on a world destroying rampage over their deaths.

>classic

again, see

A show with a decent number of good characters, Vain, Flint, Teach, Rackham, Silver even De Groot and that guy with the glasses.

fuck yeh good show. all seasons were consistently great. i didnt like the last ep, ended too abruptly for flint who was my husbando. i didnt really give a shit abt the resolution for silver and the other pirates. i was all hype for the final fight and then the writers fucked up the orgasm w that weak ending. i was happy for best boy flint tho, he survived and got his husbando back. silver a shit

>same level of impact
Instead of them running things from England they actually go out and fight side by side for years. No bonds stronger than those forged in combat together.

>implying Treasure Island isn't a classic
WEW LAD

Was she /ourgirl/?

Rackham actually turned out to be my favorite character, and that was after thinking he was just a massive shit the first couple seasons.

Fight what? And why would the son of a governor be out fighting with the military?
And then what would cause Flint to become a pirate after?
You're just trying to change the fundamental point of the show because you think gay people are gross, pretty pathetic desu

she had the best tits and was a pirate bro so yes, white traitor bitch and frenchie were annoying

i felt likewise, calico jack was based

>whore
>anybody's girl
pic one

>fight what
Does it really matter? Flint became a pirate because the family fucked over the guy because of "civilization" and sheit. It's not about being gross, it was just unnecessary to shoehorn it in on a character originally thought up when that shit was not on anyone's mind.

>Flint became a pirate because the family fucked over the guy because of "civilization" and sheit.
yeah but my point is how do you see that happening without them being gay
There is no other story. It wasn't shoehorned because the entire show doesn't make sense without it.

>You and I were neck and neck in this race right till the end.
>But, Jesus, did I make up a lot of ground to catch you.
BASED

Max ruins the series for me. I stopped watching when season 3 ended because of how fucking annoying her character is.

>Gets away with literally everything she does
>Gets raped and becomes tough 2 minutes afterwards
>Survives everything and anything
>All roads lead to Max

God she is an awful actress and her character is worse. The only good thing I can say is that she's a 10/10 in the looks department.

>when that shit was not on anyone's mind
You think being gay is a modern "invention" or "discovery" ?

He's gay only for one dude, he's hetero 90% of the time.
Even if the balls touch it's not gay if it was in a MMF threesome

>implying men can't become fueled of murderous destructive rage without being gay
You know nothing of male relationships.

It wasn't open. There's people in history that went their entire life without ever thinking such a thing is even possible. That thought never crossed their minds because it was just that much of a taboo

>>Gets raped and becomes tough 2 minutes afterwards
Because she's a half black former slave. She's been raped all her like m8. Nothing changed beyond her fairytale ending with Blondie was shattered and she was woke.

This intrinsic detail evades plebs.

It was so weird when I watched it. It was like GoT with a smaller budget yet much more epic, a thousand times better written and actually good.
It weirded me out

Master of bants

Everytime I see him. I just can't get that image of him being such an awkward doofus from shameless out of my head

That scene in Boston where the girl asked him about Rackham really got me. Fuck, how was this show so good?

I hated Max but loved how much I hated her.

Did you honestly even watch the show? You seem to have missed the point of Flint and Thomas' characters entirely

Max almost made me stop watching but the show was great in many other different ways so I kept on, and I'm glad that I did. The production value was out of this world, too.

>that scene where flint demands Peter Ashe tell him the truth about why he betrayed his butt-buddy
>that quiet rage
>that scene later in the episode when he orders the man o'war to turn its guns on the city itself to send a message

I fucking love Flint, so many great scenes

Max and Elanor are both huge cunts.
Elanor at least go what she deserved
Max got away clean and it's a travesty but that pussy game ridiculous

Is Flint a poofter in the book?

its good until they turn the main character into a fucking faggot

Flint is dead before the book starts, you never meet him

This shit gave me a fetish for pirate whores. Literally one of the hottest sex scenes ive ever seen

I think he's actually supposed to be bisexual.

Not even best girl

It's strongly implied

We see him have sex with Miranda once and he looks totally uninterested in it. He also turns down Eleanor when she throws herself at him.
He's 100% gay

flint is a parrot

he was always a faggot, pay attention

Fag. The black stocking and white pale as fuck skin on Hannah are better

quality tits

charles vane def was the true hero. went out like a boss. also agree that the show was way better than it should have been.

>they cant hang us all

It's strange, at the beginning it seemed like it was just going to be a series of gratuitous nudity and violence, not unlike GoT plus Michael Bay as executive producer only fueled my cynicism. However towards the end of S1 it improved and followed up with two brilliant seasons.

vane was bro beyond bros. i felt bad for jack, who took his death the worst and had to deal w the lies society told abt his friend

I'm surprised and very happy to see Sup Forums loved this show as much as I did. It blew my mind how good it got after the first season, it's like it turned into a whole different show.

Toby Stephens might honestly be one of the best actors alive. I wish he'd do more movies/tv instead of theatre

his death scene was the best moment of the show in my opinion. the speech, billy realising what hes doing, the lead up with the priest and his "confession". 100% kino

Agreed, Satan. He's going to be the lead in the upcoming Lost in Space series.

here,
Exactly this, at first I thought it felt like a pirate version of Pirates but then they just stopped doing the awkward, tacked-on sex scenes and the writing took off into the fucking stratosphere.

>pirate version of Pirates
Brain what
I meant to write pirate version of Spartacus.

Eleanor is a prime example that Hollywood hates strong women who don't obligate themselves to the male fantasy.

Yet another dead gay killed because she ran her own life and didn't let a man do it. Yawn.

Meanwhile we're supposed to be cool with Flint murdering relentlessly for no reason and waging global war over his married boyfriend.

You're not entirely wrong here, I must say

Why is the High Seas such a criminally underrated and underused setting Sup Forums? Outside of major films like Master & Commander, and relatively obscure shows like Hornblower and Black Sails, there really isn't much in the way of notable examples of it being used.
Apart from god-tier porn parodies which I'm suddenly reminded of RIGHT AT THE START OF LENT FOR FUCK SAKE

To be fair, I'd argue the show actually makes that point to an extent. She tries to stop the needless bloodshed, gets sidelined by her pig-headed husband and dies as a direct result of his actions. As a cherry on top, he then uses her death as a justification for increasingly brutal vengeance instead of facing up to his own guilt.

>pirate version of Pirates

Steady on old chap!

see
GOT PIRATES ON MY MIND

>the last 2 episodes of season 2

they are just absolutely incredible, watching that fucking city burn was glorious

Literally only women would see it that way.

>Finds out her father has been working with Pirates his whole career and hates him for it
>Moralfags the fuck out and loses everything
>Realizes that running the island was the only thing that made her any different from a common harlot
>Instantly becomes a piratefag and throws her "morals" out the window
>Throws her best friend/secret lover under the bus and sells her into being a rape slave
>See's the pirates getting btfo
>instantly becomes an upstanding woman of the crown and marries the new governor
>eventually dies due to the shitty situation the island that she was throwing gasoline on from both sides
>During all of this she acts like she "earned" her position on the island when in reality she was just given a fluff position managing one of her dads assets
>Every other position she held was literally earned by sucking the dick of an important man

She was one of the most hypocritical and unbearable characters in recent memory, and a pretty good example of the female mindset.

>Isn't the main character a faggot?
He's bi, sleeps with a woman 95% of the show. has a couple of flashback scenes with a male lover. No gay sex.
