How can you make a Green lantern movie work?

How can you make a Green lantern movie work?

Its impossible at this point

>How make Green lantern movie work?
Good writing, good casting, good direction.

I liked that rumor a few weeks back

Lethal Weapon in Space

How the fuck is it impossible? No, seriously. Explain to me how any superhero is "impossible" to make work as a movie.

make it a fun story starring Kyle

>THIS
>kyle rayner is the solution

No

He means people will associate it with the shit one with Ryan Reynolds. But that's as simple as changing the title. Just call it "In Brightest Day."

But the whole problem with that was nobody saw it, so nobody really remembers it.

>Fun + kyle
GL isn't fun unless there are more than one GL there to be each other's foils/wingmen.
Besides, Kyle is the depressed one.

EZ, just pull a Marvel timelinefuckery and do Alan Scott

Use Kyle Rayner and make his artistic constructs cool looking. His 90s costume and GL logo is perfect because otherwise there's too much green on screen.

First film is just the intro shit--you don't fight fucking Fear incarnate then, save that for film three.

First film should be some local native threat on Earth. Learning the ropes and all that.

Second is the intro of the GL corps and space cop nonsense. End with fighting Sinestro.

Third film is Parallax being unleashed either by Sinestro or the whole "yellow impurity" in the Power Battery.

You're not supposed to save everything that's cool and interesting about your character for the later movies.

Guy is too hot-headed and John and Kyle too boring to connect to. That and more than one GL would make idiots wonder "why are there two superheroes with the same ring?" never underestimate the stupidity of normies.

So we're kinda stuck with Hal or Alan basically.

Training day, but in space.

Buddy Cops in Space starring Guy and John. Hal can be their direct superior. Second movie can have Jessica as the newb that's assigned to shadow them so she can learn the job.

Don't have him fight Parralax or any other entity in the first movie. It should focus on world building the different Corps. I'd be okay with a mission where Hal has to gather people from each Corp for a suicide mission. Or it could be more focused on the Green Lantern Corp in a more intergalactic cop style movie.
But either way the Corps are the heart of Green Lantern and the camaraderie between the Green Lanterns should be first and foremost in any movie. From Ch'p to Mogo every Green Lantern risks their life for their sector and the bond that risking their life for the good of others forms is one of the greatest sources of strength the lanterns have.
Also goes without saying but apparently Hollywood doesn't fucking get it yet.

Cast a hot Hal Jordan

Let Michsel Bay direct it. Keep the plot relatively low threat. Like Bad Boys plus Armaggedon with a side of 13 hours.

Have Hal & Jon already be a Lantern for sometime, and Guy as a rookie for comic relief.

Bookoo bucks.

Don't over do the CGI. Make models, get make up, use CGI to cover up stuff that needs to be covered.

Don't focus too much on Earth. Earth has pretty much been the background. You really need to build up the character. Open with Hal Jordan crashing his jet as the GL ring finds him, taking him to Abin Sur.

Abin Sur talks to Hal for a little bit, giving dialogue from the comics, before dying. Spend maybe 10 minutes of Hal learning to use his ring & doing super heroics on Earth.

Then introduce Sinestro & GLC. Have a good chunk of the film basically building up relationship between Sinestro & Hal. Then the final act will reveal how far Sinestro has fallen.

That's when you get the third act of Hal vs Sinestro. The ending would be a cliff hanger. As Hal Jordan goes back to Earth we see Sinestro in the Anti-Verse. Here he's greeted by one the weaponers of Quard with his Yellow ring. The ending would be him putting on the ring & smiling at the camera.

Second film would be about Sinestro building up an army. We're doing Sinestro Crops War. Split it into part 1 & part 2. Part 1 would focus mostly on Sinestro & building up a new Lantern Corps. Also it would be about teaching new recruits on Earth. This would be great time to introduce Jessica & Baz. Just skip Guy & Kyle.

Part 2 would be about the actual war. With Sinestro coming in & attacking Earth. Hal has to fly off to stop Sinestro. While he fights in Space, we see Jessica & Baz defending Earth. The final scene would be Parallax possessing Hal Jordan.

Third film would be death of the GLC, with Jessica & Baz taking over Kyle's role as torchbearers. As they'll be the last remaining GLs. We see Hal just decimate the GLC, destroy Oa, and Mogo before dying thanks to Jessica & Baz double teaming Hal with Ion. Ending would have Hal as Spectre.

>Just skip Guy and Kyle.
How can one decision ruin a whole franchise so quickly?

The complaint I heard from normies when the first GL movie came out was they didn't understand the point of Hal as a superhero if there are literally hundreds of other Green Lanterns. To them, it's like "why am I watching Batman if there are hundreds of Batmans, it makes him less special." I don't agree, obviously, but from a casual perspective, I get it.

Which is why Kyle as the Last Green Lantern would make for the best movie. He has to figure out what the deal is with the Ring, and finds out he has to fight the "original" GL who went crazy and killed the Corps who now wants to restart the Universe according to his own whims. Average moviegoers can get their head around the whole "chosen one/destiny/last chance hero" angle and having to beat a more powerful ex-superhero.

Carol

First Film is just intro shit, MC Hal learns to control the ring and saves the city from a local threat, nothing big.

Second film is GL Corps and Space Buddy Cop movie with Green Lantern Hal and Sinestro. Ends up nice but with Hal returning to earth.

Third movie is Hal learning about Yellow Lantern Corps and how Sinestro turned Yellow and goes back to space to fight him, both promptly die.

Fourth Film is about Kyle, or Guy.

>Which is why Kyle as the Last Green Lantern would make for the best movie
Or Alan as the only Green Lantern.

>How can you make a Green lantern movie work?
>Its impossible at this point
It's only ONE bad movie, and one that with easily fixed flaws. There is nothing about Green Lantern that is hard to film, I mean it is basically the plot of The Last Starfighter.

The film failed not because of the hero, but because it suffered the same issue as BvS in having at least 3 films worth of plot squeezed in there. That's retarded. Just focus on ONE story, one that give focus to the protagonist, and only use a minor villain that showcase the hero's powers. The original film was never going to succeed with the script it had. Just get a better concise plot. It worked for Wonderwoman.

>He means people will associate it with the shit one with Ryan Reynolds
People went and paid money to watch Reynolds playing Deadpool a 2nd time, despite Wolverine Origins. The film just need good reviews and good marketing.

I think they need to go all in. Start with jordan as spectre. By the end have him back as a lantern. If they only get points for it being accurate to the story and do the action right, it becomes a fan fav and then maybe down the road a sequel can be made.

Here's my thought:

Movie opens on OA. Abin Sur and GL powers are established. Abin leaves on mission, the entire Corps falls under attack and Abin crashes to Earth and passes on his ring. Hal is essentially on his own against Abin Sur's killers.

Sequel takes Hal to OA for Lantern boot camp with a few Veteran Lanterns training the newbs. Sinestro goes off the rails and has to be taken down.

Yes you fucking are. This mentality that you have to throw every idea into your flick to make it work is what's killing the movie industry. Save that kind of shit for other media like vidya.

Either make a Kyle movie or, more simple, skip the origins and have a Space Cops movie

Police procedural in space.

Seriously, did everyone at DC just flat out forget that the GLC are cops? They're literally cops. Let the fuckers do cop shit for fucks sake!

It's like you forgot who's making these movies.
WB wants all the success NOW they don't want to build up to shit.

Because it's WB making the movies, not DC. And because Batman isn't a cop. Their ONLY "original" idea is "Make it like Batman."
Never, ever forget that they thought the problem with the Green Lantern movie was that Hal wasn't dark or edgy enough.

To be "fair", why the hell should WB give a shit about quality? Consumers still eat that shit up like the brainwashed thralls they are.

Seriously, Arkham fans. Fuck you.

>Hal Jordan
>dark and edgy
Yeah, cause history shows that worked out SO well. Hell, Parallax was even in that piece of shit, I'm surprised they didn't go full retard and have it posses him. Why the fuck not at that point.

With the 2007 film souring the milk for a human Green Lantern, why don't we try something different.
A good old buddy cop movie in space with Abin Sur and Sinestro tracking down Atrocitus and discovering the prophecy of the Blackest Night. Finally ends with Abin crash landing on Earth.

Make it cosmic. Go full GotG but less jokes.

>How can you make a Green lantern movie work?
give it to marvel

Drop Hal as MC, do Green Lanterns for muh political relevancy. have Hal be instructor Hal.

This but give it to Edgar Wright and make it Hot Fuzz in space.

>tfw didn't actively hate the Ryan Reynolds GL movie
If it had been made before Iron Man and the MCU started it would've been forgotten rather than hated.

Fucking this. Hal and Kilowog takin down alien arms dealers with Sinestro as the hardass cheif. End the film showing Sinestro ordering around some of the goons fought earlier on in the film and glancing at some of the stolen weapons.

What is the green lanterns kryptonite?

>What is the green lanterns kryptonite?
It is entirely will-power based, so mentally weaken the Lantern would weaken their powers. Depending on what kind of Lantern, you can possibly weaken them just by insulting their mother.

make it animated.

Yellow pre emerald twilight, electricity since it can weaken concentration and psionic attacks since it can weaken concentration as well but if you're a top tier GL you should be fine.

they both look too young

have him fight something other than a smoke monster and a guy with a head tumor.

just make a copy of Training Day, but in space and with Sinestro and Hal.

which First Flight sort of already is.

Make it about the best Green Lantern.
