None. Most people who try to be "experimental" really don't know what they're doing.

I always saw it as infantile rage. Crude and powerful.

> Elaborate drawing
> infantile rage

Kill yourself.

I thought they were drawings from shinji's childhood, trying to show that he was always a little disturbed.

Same reason they left shots up for 2 minutes at a time.
Anno and Gainax were poor ass bitches. Good thing they put in all those cool sounding Greek and christian words so otaku could think they were smart and cultured.

How are these elaborate? It's just violent smears. Are you that bad at drawing, user?

I don't even fucking know and I'ma big fan.

Very very effictive visual shorthand. Immediately evokes a mentally damaged child.

They are quite demure.

it depicts the 2 dimensional image we immediately create of everyone we meet, rejecting qualities we don't like and accepting/enhancing the ones we do.

you're demure

Newfag btfo. That's why Pollack is so great. Emotion condensed, Stylized in spite of his being. It brings us a message of hope. This vessel is shit and it is an unrightful prison but what can we do but bare our teeth at the grim reaper. It's the only form of protest we have. It is both hostile and inviting. Humans are the niggers of this milky way. We will continue to eat shit until our day comes. And then you will envy us for our position. Just as you do now.

It signifies Shinjis reaction to bitcoin prices plummeting.

Didn't this happen when the budget ran out?
I haven't seen this in almost two decades

Well, it's a robot show for kids so it's only natural to reference those drawings from old 70s movies intros and endings.

Did they even redo the drawings for the Blu Ray release?

they will in Eva 4.0 or 3.0+1.0 or what ever they are calling it.

The crayon drawings are actually original concept art by Hideaki Anno included as an easter egg.

Why would they redo the drawings? They can just scan the original film at a higher resolution

weren't they drawings from some abused kids irl? kind of fits the message that comes during the instrumentality scene

I thought they were allegedly drawn by disturbed/abused children?

Collapse and regression of his psyche

This is from the movie and Anno finally had the financial freedom to do whatever the hell he wanted

>Anno and Gainax were poor ass bitches.
The image in question is a split second flash from the movie. The kinda thing you'd have to go back and watch frame by frame to catch. They had a drastically higher budget to work with than the final episodes.

You have

They represented the childlike fear that the children had to experience.

I also assumed they were drawings Asuka made as a kid.

>5 months and lee still doesn't know about this image

You want to know the real reason?
Anno is a huge fan of Dezaki and that scene is inspired by one from Ashita no Joe, with Joe having a mental breakdown.
