Is a sincere criticism of capitalism even possible in our post modern world via film? This movie cost 40 million dollars to make, and made double in profits. This whole flick was insanely dishonest and left the taste of disgust in my mouth after a viewing. It was filled with cliche and cultural memes we've seen hundreds of times in past works. Political messages destroy all potential artistic merit.

what are you talking about? it was pro capitalism

The whole premise is that the capitalist 1% use police to keep the "little guy" down

and if you fight that order literally everyone gets fucked

That was the most dishonest part about it. There is no frozen hell hole threatening humanity at all times

> There is no frozen hell hole threatening humanity at all times

> he doesn't understand late stage capitalism

>posted from my device built with child labor

Yes, but also that if you derail capitalism you threaten being exposed to the true state of nature which is absolutely brutal and objectively worse than being the poorest in a capitalist society. Even the lowest class people in a capitalist society indirectly benefits from what capitalism brings, not to mention free gibmedats.

The frozen environment represents the raw state of nature, which is an environment which humanity has not developed through capitalism. The threat of regressing to this savage environment is always present (collapse of civilization) so the movie is pretty smart to make that metaphor

> implying a critique of capitalism is only valid if it comes from outside the system
wew lad. keep licking those (((banker))) boots

You're like a guy chomping down a cheeseburger while complaining about how horribly the cattle in slaughterhouses are treated.

shit analogy

the user here was trying to hand-wave the criticism of capitalism because electronics are made by borderline slave labor in china implying i have no leg to stand on

its called hypocrisy

there's no ethical consumption under capitalism kiddo....................

frick off ricky

how's it a shit analogy? do your research on business practices and don't buy from exploitative companies, don't just sit there on your iphone or samsung and bitch about it.

Korean movies are annoying.

Characters do weird illogical shit with weird timing. Like the whole axe battle where everyone decides on a temporary truce because of the new year, or when they wash off the blood immediately after they win. Do koreans think this kind of thing is badass just like their animes?

They're tonally inconsistent, edgy garbage.

i never said there was

this is impossible because ALL phones literally are exploitative, samsung itself makes memory chips for other phone companies. they all use chinese labor. which proves that late stage capitalism is a long term detrimental. this isn't an endorsement of communism either, which is a meme

doesn't have a problem eating babies, but doesn't want to eat crickets

Tonally inconsistent can be applied to almost all asian movies. What is the deal there? Is their literature based on a tradition of mixing up tones? Do they not understand what tone even is in writing?

Dumb movie. Stilted dialogue. Some original set pieces were it's saving grace. But it felt as if it was written by some autistic alien.

Maybe there sense of humor makes it seem strange compared to our own?

fuck off, cheeseburger walrus bobandy.

then don't buy into the system :^)
do you really need one user? do you really need a laptop? what do you do with your devices that justifies such ruthless exploitation of workers? you put money into the pockets of the capitalists so you can look at memes on Sup Forums?

>There is no frozen hell hole threatening humanity at all times
Yes there is. There's the freezing winter nights. What keeps you warm through that season, where do your clothes come from, what keeps your gas on? There's mass starvation, there's disease, there's other predators (including other humans), there's so many basic protections we have and take for granted. When all of that is stripped away you're left with what we call the third world. That's the frozen hell hole we're in constant danger of becoming.

Well it was written by a Korean, so close enough

corea dogs are fucked in the head

The CGI in this film was fucking atrocious.

It had little to no internal consistency in parts and that always pisses me off in movies trying REALLY hard to be smart.

The source material is a French comic, which I had to look up and found that there is a part 3!
