He's too fucking good for this series

I actually like it. I wasn't in the mood to read the book, but the comic give me a chance to know Thrawn.

Pretty shit all things considered.

I am still mad Thrawn Trilogy was THRAWN out of canon, and yet Disney can still use the character and profit from it.

They got Zahn to consult for Rebels and he still wrote the novel this comic's based off of.

I know that.

I am just VERY mad Thrawn trilogy was replaced with the shit trilogy.

What the heck is going on with the mods? They just deleted a vader thread just because it is star wars.

I don't care because I don't read shitvel

I don't like the "lel mythological warrior species" that they're making the Chiss into
Was that always the case?

The Thrawn trilogy had a lot of crap in it like everything to do with Mara Jade, clone jedi, and everything Leia did cashing in on being related to Vader.

I think the Thrawn Trilogy is a little overhyped and is seen as the Big Untouchable of the EU because it was one of the first entries that didn't have some ridiculous fucking 'better than the death star' superweapons that kept popping up early on.

I don't even remember if the Sun Crusher was in it. Fuck that ship.

EU before Thrawn Trilogy was, what, pulpy Marvel comics? Zahn kickstarted the old EU as we know, for better or worse. I agree on it being overhyped though

That was all Kevin J. Anderson. I don't think Thrawn ever used a superweapon.
EU before Thrawn trilogy was the Marvel comics, some radio dramas, and Splinter of the Mind's Eye.

Thrawn Trilogy was in a perfect spot where enough time has passed since RotJ for people to crave more Star Wars that wasn't an endless rehash of the OT, but prequels were still years away

Who cares? All of it is made invaled and irrelevant by The Last Jedi.

None of it matters.

...You realize that the Thrawn comic is set before ANH, right?

Your post doesn't make any sense. How did tlj made anything irrelevant?

if you don't care how come you care that the last jedi made it irrelevent.

aren't star wars threads banned, you faggots?

And by the time TRJ is done. Absolutely nothing of what Thrawn believe or cares will matter. "Kill the past if you have to" Remember?

Star Wars is nothing but Nihilistic bullshit.

Because none of this matters. Whatever sacrifices were done, are undone and everything becomes void. The rebellion? Meaningless. They changed nothing and did nothing for the Galaxy. Might as well, left Palpatine alive.

Because i'm angry and sad at what Rian Johson and Kenedy did to the saga.

Fucking hell.

Nah, that's just Rian Johnson being a dick. He's not involved in the next movie.

How it was different from EU? At least ST had peace for 30 years and going to have it again soon.

>ST had peace for 30 years

Star Trek? When did they go that long without an entry?

The sequels.

>crap
>Mara Jade

Okay, user.

As a Legends fag with zero interest in Disney's shit I'm interested to know if anything in it explicitly or majorly contradicts his Legends backstory? Same with his novel from Zahn.

t. soyboy

Closest thing to a superweapon was a cloaking shield plus Battle Meditation Force ability.

>shitting on Mara Jade
I bet you like Rey.

user, Trek never went that long without someting in the movies or on TV.
This is the same story as the novel, just done as a comic book.

its the same story as the novel

Nope, Rey is boring. I like Daisy Ridley, but Rey's writing is beyond bland and annoying.

I was terrified that it was going to be terrible and cheap, but other than Marvel's standard incredibly disposable toilet paper printing (thank goodness for free digital copy), the art is AMAZING. Ross knows how to use those red eyes and black backgrounds like a BOSS.

So Zahn was fine with them having Thrawn get thrown into hyperspace by giant squids?

He mean "sequel trilogy", not star trek.

Zahn has no say. He's been very diplomatic, and honestly, he killed Thrawn himself, so I think he's probably happy that Thrawn's still available for adventures in the unknown regions.

Especially after what they did to Mara.

Very likely. Filoni and Weisman worked on Rebels and both of them plan things years in advance, so Zahn probably came in and learned exactly how the show would end and how Filoni plans on having Thrawn appear in his post-ROTJ series.

Assuming that Zahn isn't going to write a book about that.

Filoni never planned shit.
I've never heard of Weisman's involvement.
I mean aside from the Curse coming into effect

Oh, well same question I guess, anything in the novel that majorly contradicts his Legends story?

So you cannot just ignore TLJ's existence?

You realize that he was the producer of the first season, right?

not really

And?
What did he contribute?

There are a few differences here and there. The new Thrawn is slightly naive in the novel (or at least, he's playing it up to get a better grasp on the Empire) and cares more about lives in general rather than just discarding everything like scraps off his plate.

The reason for his exile from the Chiss is also different.

But other than that, he's pretty much the same.

no one likes Rey

He wrote three episodes of the show, two mini-episodes, the Kanan comic, and edited the story for the first season.

Sad to see him stoop so low
The show was shit with near zero continuity
Weisman loves his continuity.

>I didn't watch the show

I did. It sucked.
The characters are exactly the same from beginning to end
The plots are nearly the same too
Ezra is stupid and goofy and almost gets everyone in trouble with the dastardly Empire, who are like Scooby Doo villains

Ever 1/20 episodes they remember they're doing a series and not a collection of shorts. So they actually try. Like when Ezra was for an episode sorta edgy after reading the Sith Holocron. But then he's back to being smiley and goofy.

Compared to TCW, Filoni's last show, it was extremely disappointing. TCW was basically an exegesis of the Prequels.
Rebels was about selling lunchboxes.

This is why /swco/ was banned

these really hit the mark

>Especially after what they did to Mara.

Something worse than erasing her?

Kylo likes Rey

They had Kylo Ren's first version, Jacen "Darth Caedus" Solo, kill her off with a cheap trick.

I am displeased.

It's used well. It's a way to adapt a lot of material quickly.

Nah
There's very little horizontal transfer. Things from comics/books very very rarely show up in movies. Yeah, Chopper and Hera were in RO, but those were briefest of brief cameos.
Actual roles?
Never

I forget the exact phrasing Zahn used, but at ECCC last year he said that he essentially wrote Thrawn, Outbound Flight, and the Thrawn Trilogy with the intent of having all of those works be in continuity with one another, which having read all three, I can see being the case.

Apparently the opening of Thrawn where he's discovered by the Empire is also a retelling of a short story in Legends that covers the same event with some retooling, but I haven't read the short story and therefore can't affirm how true that is.
