Alcest was never really black metal, and a lot of people "liked" Peste Noire because they were semi-related. They were wrongly grouped into that post-black metal scene by association.
Newer PN is more experimental, but their first album isn't artsy at all.

My favouriter Peste Noire Song. Audrey is great in this song and I love how it feels like a classical piece of music with highs and lows. The gunshots in the beginning is edgy and cringe but it matches well with the theme of the song.
